Looking for advice for a Long Story

So if I am becoming familiar around these parts sorry, but I am new to this, but still this is something I want to do.

So I am in the process of a project which I had innotionally planned to do as a comic series.

I am still leaning on doing it as a comic series

(here it comes)

HOWEVER

The story of said plot is LOONNNG

(at least how I see it)

And I add at least how I see it because it seems long to me, when to others it may look kinda long.

 

Anyways this is a project that I have been thinking about doing for a while and want to do it.

 

So first of:

What are advice for creating long fics?

What I'll probably end up doing is writing it as a fic an then seeing if I want to make it as a comic format, as long as the story is in place the transition shouldn't be too hard. I am already learning on my own, but what are your advice

 

Second:

Should I ask someone to look at my plot for advice?

What this question means is that say I go to someone (or someone offers) to ask what they think about my story. The reason I ask is that I still want to story to be the way I want it to be (in iter word in my control) yet I still want advice and if changes should be made?

 

So in essence I guess the questions is for advice and if anyone wants to help get my story out there?

What are advice for creating long fics?

 

I have never written a fanfic before (although I might try to do so in the future), but my advice would be to write down or organize all the chapter titles in a file/paper. After that, write down a summary of what is to be depicted in each chapter. Doing this might make it easier to divide your work and monitor your progress. It also helps in keeping your ideas in check, for they are already listed down. You can also look or refer to the original plot (that you already seem to have) while looking at the summaries to have a clearer idea of what is to happen in the chapter. Doing this can also help you to focus on the given chapter and what it requires (according to what you have written down, prior to the beginning of writing the actual fanfic). 

 

And even if your fanfic won't have chapters, you can still do this for parts. Basically, you can divide your story into parts, so that you can focus more on each given part while you are working on it, instead of just continuously writing with the ENTIRE story as the focus. The more focus you can give to a specific event, the more detailed you can make it out to be. 

 

 

 

Should I ask someone to look at my plot for advice?

 

 

It is really up to you if you would like to do this, but if ever you decide to let someone read about your story ideas, just make sure that the person in question is a reliable and keen person. The person has to be reliable since you don't want him/her spreading/copying/spoiling your ideas, and he/she also has to be keen so that he/she can spot plot holes, inconsistencies, rough transitions, and other things of the like.

What are advice for creating long fics?

A long fic must have a lot of planning. This could range from planing the first few chapters to the entirety of the fic. Prepare files of importance to the plot (etc. Characters, locations, events.) However, you don't have to exactly follow what you wrote. Its your story and if you want to modify something, do it.

P.S Your planning is your guide not what you have to follow.

Should I ask someone to look at my plot for advice?

I say keep it to yourself unless you hit a roadblock. Only seek for help if it is ultimately needed. The opinions of others could affect your story greatly, this could range from positive or negative.

I've faced the problem (Not exactly becouse of my fiction was long, but also due to my poor english) and will give you one advice - get proof-reader as soon as possible. Some of ponies suggest to finish story before showing it to anyone, but sometimes large ammount of text can push them away. So better to get a proof-reader, who can work on you during the process of writing fiction.
