Halfblood 364 March 4, 2012 Share March 4, 2012 (edited) Name: Vergilius Age: 20 Gender: Male Species: Hippogriff Personality: Despite being relatively tolerable to any creature that he interacts with, Vergilius maintains a very cynical frame of mind. His mixed ancestry has lead Vergilius to become shunned by the many races that inhabit Equestria. As such, he is quick to distrust anyone's intentions, even if they are being genuinely kind towards him or another. The only solace he can find is in the flights he undertakes alone in thunderstorms. He is quiet, intuitive, and determined to find others like himself. Backstory: Vergilius was born in Cloudsdale to a young Pegasi mother and a Griffon father, a union that was kept secret from the community. His birth was inevitably discovered by his mother's family, to which they insisted Vergilius's father take him away. His mother was torn, but decided to fly away with Vergilius in tow to a distant solitary mountain where Vergilius's father resided. With both of his parents being ostracized by their family and their community, the two both raised Vergilius in seclusion up until his mother passed from, what his father speculated, her " interminable sadness". The death of his mother took its toll on Vergilius as a young Hippogriff, but it had an even worse impact on his father. As the years progressed, Vergilius's father's health waned. The only friend he and his father ever had, a traveling donkey apothecary named Basil, tried his best at curing whatever ailment that ravished the hardy Griffon, but noting seemed to prevail. The following winter, Vergilius's father succumbed to a severe form of pneumonia. For the years leading to Vergilius's 16th birthday, Basil and his family took care of the young Hippogriff. During his time with Basil's family, Vergilius developed his negative outlook on Pony/ Griffon society, believing their intolerance for his parents' love as the cause of their deaths. One night, Vergilius fled from his home with Basil, undergoing a blind journey to search for other Hippogriffs. To this day, his search continues.
