My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rarity

How did you find MLP Forums?: On internet, of course

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: My grandson is a proud brony, since he was 1 and discovered the show on the hub. I, of course, knew of the ponies from way back in the 80's.

:DGreetings Everypony

I am Beadsparkle Petals, and I am a granny pony. My grandson is a very proud brony, who has been a huge fan since he was 1 and able to understand the show. He is now 5, and a bigger fan of the show I don't believe is out there. He takes his ponies everywhere, and will start up random conversations with anyone about his beloved ponies.

I have come to love the show also, as I have seen every episode at least a dozen times with him. I love the message that the show provides and also the quality of artwork and story writing is beyond compare. Wolfie(my grandson) has almost every figure out, and for his 3rd birthday, my sister sent him 40 ponies from the 80's that she bought on e-bay. To say my home is covered in ponies is an understatement. But, I love it and look forward to new figures almost as much as he does.

I do have a question for the older bronies out there. Were you this young when you became bronies, and how would you help me to counter the comments that I get form some people who say we need to nip this in the bud. Usually I tell them I don't care what he plays with and that the show is teaching him to be a loving, caring child..instead of a angry, destructive boy that I see everyday at school and playgrounds. But, even though I have no problem, I don't want him to get beat up at school. The girls love him, he has so much in common to talk to them about, in fact most of his friends are girls. But boys just don't get him. Does anybody have some advice for me?

I am glad I discovered this website. I am also an artist, crafts woman and dedicated granny pony. We(baby and I) would love to find other bronies his age, and hopefully meet some who live in the Orlando, Fl area.

And as Pinkie Pie would say..."Yea, new friends are the best"!!!

Most people on this site were far older than he is when they got involved in the show.  I'm 21 and just graduated from law school.  I didn't get into the show until a few months ago.  You have to be 13 to join this site, and almost everybody didn't get involved until this particular series started a couple years ago, so I think the youngest most of the people on this site got into MLP would be about 10 years old.   That being said, I think you'll find most of the people on this forum got involved in the show late in their teen years or in adulthood.

As for people saying that you need to nip it in the bud... honestly I can't believe people are so ignorant as to act like it's some bizarre thing for a little boy to like a show meant for little girls.  If someone tells you that you need to change your son, I think you should just tell that person, "Oh I'll figure it out on my own" and ignore what they have to say.

I would fully encourage him watching the show, as it appears you have been doing.  Unlike most boys shows out there which start exposing them to violence at a young age because that's what boys are supposed to like, this show encourages really amazing character traits that everybody, boy or girl should take with them and put into their lives.  You should be nothing but thrilled that he loves the show.

@@beadsparkle petals,

Hey, welcome to the forums. Glad to see the show is even an influence on older generations as well as us young 'uns

To answer your question, I would say he's doing nothing wrong. I'm 24, and I started watching the show this past fall. Now, I'm not really open about it, but I would say there's nothing wrong with liking the show, or anything about it. I know quite a few people who are my age/gender and love this show. It's more about what the show teaches than anything. As long as you're a good human being, who cares what you like? If anything, I think more people should be accepting of bronies than they are.

This is one of the most heart warming things ive heard in along time, I only became a brony this Christmas time so I can't really help to much, and if he starts to get bullied then you should tell the teachers if it is a good enough school then they will sort it out straight away! Welcome to the forums  :) nice to see the older generations like the show too.

Welcome to the forums!

I believe that there is nothing wrong with boys liking MLP. It is not just a show for little girls anymore, contrary to any beliefs of others who are treating this as a epidemic. Those people are just displaying their ignorance of the show and what it promotes as far as friendship and acceptance.
