Handing in a story about ponies for english yay or neigh

Well today we got told that tomorrow we must hand in a story it can be about any thing really as long as the central theme is growing up and learning important life lessons. Now i trust this teacher enough to know she won't tell people what i wrote and i was thinking i may do a story about a little filly who grows up and learns all the values of the mane 6 through life experiences. I am a good creative writer however i am wondering if i should do a pony story because

 

1)I mightn't have time to type up a story and give the protagonist rich character development  (i feel if i stayed up late i'd finish)

 

2)It may be a bit awkward maybe

 

3)There is a very small chance that others could find out about my story

 

So should i make the story about ponies what would you do. It also would help to note only my family knows i am a brony.

As long as it fits the requirements I don't think anyone will mind,  If you really want to you should go for it.
