Never wrote a Fan Fic before, NEED ASSITANCE

Hello, I've had an idea in my head for a while for a few possible fan fictions, However despite how much I write in my English class on a regular basis, I've never actually written one before. I have a few questions about this that I hope you guys could possibly help me with.

 

1. Should I make a page for a Fan Fic on FIMFiction before I write it?

 

2. How long does a Fan Fic typically last?

 

3. Where can I find someone to make cover art for my stories?

 

4. Can a Fic be one big chapter or do I have to make multiple chapters?

1. That is up to you, you could do that but I don't really see much a point. If I were to do that it would probably be a sequel to a fic I have already written as a sort of sneak preview of it.

 

2. It depends on what you are writing, there are fics that are long enough to be novels and some even sagas with multiple sequels and some that are short one shots. I have a general idea on how long I want my fanfic ideas to be depending on the concept but have no definitive "I am going to have x amount of chapters in this or that" because you could be in the middle of writing and maybe come up with a few ideas that sound great but don't really work out or maybe come up with some better ideas to improve the story.

4. If a fic is longer it is probably a better idea to split it up into multiple chapters as to make it easier for people to read as not everyone has the time to sit down and read one very long chapter with multiple pages of content. I personally think a good length for a longer chapter would probably be about 4,000 or 5,000 words or so although I have read some fics with longer chapters myself. People have written fics before with one long chapter instead of multiple smaller ones but I find as a reader for it to be much easier to remember where I left off with multiple smaller chapters as opposed to one large chapter. That is not to say certain chapters can't be a bit long but some authors are a bit ridiculous with their chapter lengths.
