Hello! I am working on a school paper and have a question: does anypony know if there's a count of officially recognized mlp fim ponies (or characters in general)? I've been able to find partial lists, but what I  really need is some sort of number I can cite. My paper only covers seasons one through three of the show itself, so a count through then would be amazing! But any sort of reference you can uncover would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everypony. I was hoping to find something a bit more concise, but I guess I can work with it. 

 

My next best option is probably a screenshot of a pony crowd. Does anypony know of some good ones? Most of what I'm finding was made by fans. And while I love fan art, the paper will be more credible if I stick to official sources.

 

The assignment is about learning to write professionally styled articles in LaTex (used by scientific journals and other publishers), and the professor has offered to host any articles we write on the university website. I've decided to use this as an opportunity to try to sway some minds and open people up to the idea that a show made for young girls can actually be good!  And while universities are generally more socially liberal than their surroundings,  a great many of my fellow students (and even a few professors) appear to be steadfast conservatives. So any techniques I can use to have them take my article seriously are going in there!
