 Scribbles Brush's chains rattled as she walked in line, her cuffs connected to two lines of other cuffed ponies, from behind and from the back. Her mother, Brush Tip, struggled behind her, her eyes low to the dingy ground. Gears, Scribble's father, walked somewhere in the stallion line. Scribble's cuffs were a bit to large for her, as she was a filly, and she could slip out of them if she wanted, but she could not bear to leave her family. As she walked on, she saw with relief they were being walked to their chambers. She could rest in her own chamber, next to her mother's. She heard a blood-curdling scream, and turned to see the executer swing his ax down a while away on a wailing mare's head. She turned away from the horrific sight and hoped it was no one she knew.
