Not A Bad Christmas Day

I gave quite the wall o text about Christmas Eve now it is time for Christmas Day. Christmas Day is usually spent either at my place or at my Aunt Judy's place and this year is Aunt Judy's place. Unlike Christmas Eve I never had a problem making it to Christmas Day because of work as Christmas Day is the one holiday the store I work at is closed on. After spending a late night at my Aunt Lina's house for Christmas Eve I was pretty tired the next morning, my Mom was up early to make the finishing touches on my Great Grandma's roast beef recipe for Christmas dinner which she cooked the other night. The secret to this was to let the let the meat slowly simmer on low heat in the gravy for several hours, just letting the oven do its work. She didn't have to worry about anything else though as another one of my aunts was handling all the other food.

My brother came over to my place around 11 and we had a light breakfast of quiche and in my case ham and scrambled eggs (I don't like the texture of quiche) to tide us over and opened some presents. Since my Mom and no one else knows what I want because I already buy what I want I don't tend to get much but that is okay because I already have what I want, have a nice family, plenty of food and a roof over my head. I got a calendar like I do every year (last year was a Star Wars calendar from my brother) and this year was a Simpsons Calendar, a new jacket, a backpack and some cash. My brother being the big San Diego Chargers fan is probably the easiest person to shop for in my family so A Chargers jacket for him and he is happy.

Around 12:30, 1:00 or so we loaded up the food and the presents and went over to my aunts house. Since we were the first ones there I just chilled out and played Mario and Luigi Dream Team for a little bit until everyone else started showing up. After some "Merry Christmas's" and a bit of visiting we opened up presents and then it was dinner time. My Mom much to her dismay had the roast for simmer for too long and some of the gravy dried out, but the meat was still as tender as always and it was all around a good dinner. I didn't eat nearly as much as I did on Christmas Eve but still ate my fair share as my Great Grandmas roast beef has always been one of my personal favorites.

Through some more visiting I found out that one of my cousins is into Alex Jones who is a radio talk show I have been listening to for the last few years now which gave us quite a bit to talk about. My Uncle Nick brought on Obamacare on a rather sarcastic manner after seeing Obama make some statement where he thought that families should discuss it with each other during Christmas. The conversation was heated but still remained civil, I of course gave my 2 cents as I nearly always do when politics is brought up and it was decided then that it would be a good time for dessert.

We had this yule log which as of last night is now of my top ten list of favorite desserts ever along with caramel pumpkin cake (wasn't really my thing) and some cheesecake which I can of course always make room for. After visiting for a bit more my Mom saw that I was struggling to stay awake in part due to the lack of sleep from last night and partly due to the fact that I tend to go bed and wake up fairly early and it was then that we wished everyone a Merry Christmas and went home.I ended my night by checked in on here for a little while, watching some TV and then getting some much needed sleep.
