Part 2: The accident     By now the weather had indeed taken a turn for the worse, brilliant white streaks of lightning could be seen racing across the sky accompanied by the almighty roar of thunder. As the bursts of lightning became more frequent the wind also picked up to almost gale force, ripping the branches off the trees and sending birds fleeing out of their nightly roosts.
