About this blog

I'm not sure how active this blog will be, but it will now focus on concepts within MLP and other media.

A Farewell to Equestria, a Farewell to the Forums, and a Farewell to You.

What do I say about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?   It's a warm, funny, and relaxing show not afraid to tackle real issues. It has a character for everyone to relate to personally, as well as situations that accommodate for those feelings too. Everyone has presence, motivations, personality, etc. to make them feel alive. Most of us wouldn't have ever thought that we would enjoy a show about pastel ponies as much as we did. The show is only a fraction of what "MLP" means to me, though. T

Slice of Life may be the best send-off I could've asked for.

The 100th episode special of MLP, Slice of Life, has been generally well received throughout the fandom. I enjoyed it immensely, and I must say that it is a love letter to the fandom as a whole. It has so many little self-referential tidbits to the show and the fandom it created. Dark Qiviut, Nuke, and probably others have tackled this in detail. I recommend you check out their blogs if you're curious.   The episode shows what I love about MLP in general. We get a surprisingly well-crafted sto

Do Review Scores Have Any Actual Meaning?

I'm going to be very blunt about this, I don't like number scores. I feel like they take try to quantify a qualitative value, and inadvertently are opening their review to unnecessary criticism by doing so.   "What makes you like one six better than the other? If one is better than the other how are they ranked the same?" They shout from the comment section.   Here's the real question, though. Do these numbers actually hold any meaning, or is there more to it than that? I don't think I can d

Persona 4 Golden and the Amalgamation of Story and Gameplay [POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

It's no secret that Persona 4 Golden is my all-time favorite RPG, however I haven't really explained why. I think that Persona 4 Golden's Social Links are a fantastic way to combine a strong sense of story and gameplay progression. Join me as I take a look at a large part what makes this game appeal to me.   P4G starts off slow, it means to construct a framework for the story (such as introducing important characters, concepts, the setting, and the tone), however this also acts as an introduct

Mario Kart 8 Review: A More Balanced Karting Experience

Mario Kart is a fantastic game, in my humble opinion. It is not perfect, though, no game ever is. Let's get the bad outta the way first, so that we can talk about the good.   Every time you earn a gold medal you are rewarded with a random unlockable character (there are fourteen total), and you can earn customization options by collecting copious amounts of coins. Some people will likely be disappointed by both of these being random. For example, say that I want to unlock Rosalina and I didn't

My series-wide personal enjoyment scorecard about ponies and stuff.....but mostly ponies.

Here is my personal scorecard for all of MLP! It's just my personal opinions at work for the episodes, so don't take this as me saying "this is a be-all, end-all list." Anyway, without further adieu here's my list (posted in chronological order for each category):   LOVED IT!: Applebuck Season Dragonshy Swarm of the Century Winter Wrap-Up Suited for Success Sonic Rainboom A Dog and Pony Show Green Isn't Your Color The Cutie Mark Chronicles Party of One The Best Night Ever ----- Th

Reaching a conclusion on how I feel about certain episodes.

For a while I was on the fence about how I had felt about several episodes of the show, because they had slightly botched up morals. The three that come to mind are: A Dog and Pony Show, A Friend In Deed, and Trade Ya! I came to the realization that I don't really care enough about the execution of the moral to have effect my enjoyment after watching Trade Ya! yesterday and wondering "Why do I want to say that I love this episode, despite its unfortunate implications within the sentimental value

About Me (Originally a Response to Scarlet's Blog).

I suppose I've been on these forums long enough now to give some info on the details on my past, and my depression. This was originally part of a response to 's blog (which I recommend checking out), but I felt that this should also be shared here, in the most personal place I have on the forums. Anyway here's a brief look at my life, and why depression hit me so hard growing up:   "From as far back as I can remember until I was seven my mom and dad constantly were fighting, whether it be verb

My Long-Ass List of Anime Catch-Up

It's no secret that I've been out of the anime loop for some time now (I was never in it), so below's my excessive list of stuff I eventually plan on watching in the genre (in no particular order). Feel free to leave suggestions below as well. Please don't suggest long-running Shonen Jump animes, it's already going to take me eons to get through all of this.   Madoka Magica Princess Tutu Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (When They Cry) Gurren Lagann Attack On Titan Kill La Kill Spice and Wolf

Smashing News! (April 8th, 2014 Nintendo Direct)

Here's what to take away from the Nintendo Direct that just aired today (in a list format due to lack of time).   1. Four returning fighters were announced: Yoshi, Sheik (now a separate character from Zelda), Charizard (by himself) and Zero Suit Samus (now a separate character from Samus).   2. One brand new fighter was announced: Greninja (expect radical Mewtwo fans to be pissed).   3. Ridley and Yellow Devil were confirmed as boss characters.   4. A Master Ball from Pokemon is now a se

Some nerd gushing over the retro tracks in Mario Kart 8

I just watched some footage of Mario Kart 8 from IGN and GameXplain, and as a long time Mario Kart fan, I am ecstatic that it basically confirms that all returning tracks will have an added twist to them. This is a huge step in the right direction for the series in my opinion, because sure there was some track tweaking in its predecessors, but nothing like this. This is just goddamn amazing in my opinion, and I'm going to pre-order my copy over the next few days thanks to the gameplay footage of

I'm a filly, and what is this blog?

Hello everybody, I just wanted to talk about what this blog is, and how it will function.   In a nutshell, this will be an informal, unstructured blog about my thoughts on various subjects. It will not run on a concrete schedule and will be updated more on a "if I feel like it" basis. I often have other stuff to do, so I really can't run it on a consistent basis if I tried (which I did). My entries won't have a distinct format, but none of them should feel too alien, so it shouldn't be much of

Drymond Sentry is no more.

Alright, I can't go on with the charade anymore, despite April Fools Day continuing onward. I am going to end all the nonsense with my Drymond Sentry persona, but I had fun (even if 90% of my posts were ironic jabs at the characters I supposedly worshipped).   My personal favorite post of my shenanigans (taken from 's one status update): "I am currently making a Flash Sentry butter sculpture and putting it out in the sun. This will allow others to remember him as long as those touched by his
