So, yesterday was the day download codes were sent via email to get the free Mewtwo DLC on Smash Brothers. I did all the registration stuff and guess what, it didn't send me the code. I can't see that I did anything wrong but the download code was never sent to me.
I don't get it. I just don't get it. Why is DLC even a thing? All it does is allow game companies to milk more money from people. If you want to add stuff to your game, either release it with the game or add it in a system update. Don't just wave something popular in our faces and then go like, "Oh 5 bucks."
Yes I get it, they need money but your games already cost around 60 bucks and already sell decently. Not to mention you guys sell out of Amiibos and Gamecube controller adapters quickly and never restock. The excuse is, "Oh, they're in high demand." That should just be an indicator to make more.
Yeah, as you can tell, I'm not happy at Nintendo right now. I could talk about how broken their Creator Program on YouTube is, but that could get a rant on its own. Just know that it is more broken than YouTube's copyright system already is.
I don't hate Nintnedo. Their games can still be good. However, some of their business practices I kind of question.
So, this rant is kind of a response to a current event.
So there is this show on Nickelodeon called Oggy and the Cockroaches. I've never heard of this show, but a quick Wikipedia search told me it was made in France. Anyways, there is a controversy going on over a blink and you'll miss it moment. In one episode, there was a shot of breasts for a second or something. Basically, angry parents got angry over this one second shot that's probably a blink and you'll miss it moment, dubbing it "boobgate." (How many gates are we gonna have. There better not be a Pinkiegate :okiedokielokie: .)
Our of all the things to complain about on Nick, they chose that. So let me get this straight, there can be an episode of one of their sitcoms involving one of the kids thinking he's pregnant, a cartoon about twerking ducks with one episode revolving around date rape, and an episode where Spongebob, THEIR FREAKING CHANNEL MASCOT dates a sandwich and looks at it kind of seductively. However if there's a shot of that for a split second, that's instantly the worst possible thing? May I remind you that the aforementioned scenes I mentioned were entire episodes dedicated around this?
May I remind you that this show wasn't even made by Nick, but in France, you know, where the censors are more light. Honestly, why are the censors so light here in the States? I mean, they show edgy content in kids shows made in other countries. Just look at the Pokemon episode Beauty and the Beach, or the Total Drama series made in Canada. Heck, when the first season of the latter show was airing in the states, they had to edit down so much dialogue, that it made some scenes come off as jarring. Would show you one edited clip I'm thinking of, but I can only find the uncensored version.
The reason why we're so scared of edgy content here in the states is all because of angry soccer moms who think that this stuff is gonna scar kids for life or something. We can't even have a scene of a clumsy pony named Derpy without someone getting offended? On a side note, was anyone who is actually mentally handicapped offended by that scene?
They seem to get angry at scenes that don't even effect the story, and not stuff that do or entire episodes, making them come off as extremely hypocritical. In a nutshell, make up your mind and stop speaking for your kids.
I know what a second Civil War would be over if there was one. It will not be over political parties. It will not be over religion. It will not even be over gay marriage. No, it will be over who is best pony. Because, that's what will easily start a flame war in this fandom.
Now, I believe that people have a right to choose who their favorite pony is for whatever reason they feel it's best. If they think Rainbow Dash is best pony because they find her hot, whatever, that's their views. What I don't like, is people starting flame wars, just on who is best pony.
First off, best pony is a subjective point of view. There is no objectively better pony than the others. It's just whoever the viewer in question seems to prefer. People's reasons for liking said pony, are entirely subjective. It could be due to readability, looks, what they did an episode, or even something they said.
It seems like whenever someone asks a group of people who is best pony, people seem to start arguing over it, which leads to flat out insulting people. Heck, it feels like whenever we have some best pony tournament on this forum, we do get a result, but only after serious fighting and insulting.
I compare this to a civil war because it feels some fans of each pony hate fans of other ponies like this is some weird territorial war or something.
If there's one thing I wish would happen, is people just accepting which pony they like the best, instead of mindlessly attacking others for it.
Welcome to my new blog series, A Vine Whipping rant. In this series, I will go on a rant about stuff that bother me. So lets start with the first rant, 90s kids.
Now let me get this out of the way first, I'm OK if you are a 90s kid or get nostalgic over your childhood, it's human nature to want to go back and relive your childhood due to how stressful life is when you're older. Heck, even me at 16 sometimes wish I was younger again so I wouldn't have much homework and life felt more innocent.
However, what I don't like about some 90s kids is how elitist and arrogant some of them act. They will constantly talk about how the 90s was like "TEH BEST DECADE EVER MAN!" and everyone respected their parents, nothing bad happened (uh LA Riots and Columbine shooting anyone?), and how everything in existence was much better. And when they talk about the 2000s, the usually talk about like it's some post apocalyptic wasteland with constant war going on, and every kid is just some spoiled brat raised by Justin Bieber. See what I mean? Now let me just say that I was born in 1998, so I qualify as what they cal a 2000s kid, you know the spoiled brat they would think I am. If you know me on the forums, do I act like that? No. They're just generalizing everyone my age as if they're screwed for life. They will sometimes even tell them this on the internet in the most elitist way possible. Yeah, they say this to people who are much younger than them. What if they did this in real life? That sure would make you look mature *sarcasm*
It doesn't help that people around my age (aka people born in the late 90s) try to say how much 90s kids they are, without even remembering a second of the decade. At least I don't deny I'm a 2000s kid. Also, 90s kids usually wonder why they do that. Do you wanna know why? It's because you guys preach that the 90s was like heaven on earth and that their childhood was like hell on earth, so then the younger ones will think that and start wanting to be 90s kids. So in reality, it's your fault they do that. Even I fell for this at one point. Then I realized how stupid that is, and valued what I did have in my childhood, especially since I grew up in the early to mid 2000s, when people really feared terrorism.
Also no, networks can't bring back the old shows, especially with new episodes. The way networks make money is making new shows, not being stuck in 1994. I will admit that the networks aren't as good as they used to be, but do I think bringing back the old shows is the solution to improve them? No. Making new and creative shows is the way to go.
Also, they say that people like Justin Bieber and One Direction are bad (OK I agree with that) and that their music was better. Uh, they still had pop artists that sang virtually the same things as they did like Arron Carter and the Backstreet Boys. Also, isn't music taste largely subjective? So don't act like just because someone likes those stuff, they're stupid. I don't like those people, but I don't say that to fans of them who don't act stupid. I know some people who like them, and hey, they're not like that.
Finally, they say that kids are just hooked on electronics. Uh. you guys had stuff like Game Boys, Tamagachis, and video games in general. Also they say how much modern tech sucks, on Facebook with their iphones. Hypocrites much?
Overall, I'm OK with someone reminiscing about anything in their childhood. It's just if they act like an elitist prick to people who didn't grow up with their stuff, then I have a problem.
Here's a funny 90s kid story. I was reading a 90s kid Facebook page out of boredom and they posted a picture of an older My Little Pony. The comments were saying about how this is so much better than the new one and how it's mlp before it got so annoying. Did you even watch G4?
