Pokémon Gold and Silver Review!

After the huge success of Red and Blue and all things Pokémon, Game Freak new what had to be done; a sequel was in order. The sequels, labeled Pocket Monsters 2: Gold and Silver were set to be released in late 1997. This did not come to fruition; the game was delayed, and it finally hit Japan in June 1999, and it came to the rest of the world a year later. Does it improve on the last game, or is it a bad case of sequelitis? Let's dig in and find out!   STORY The basic story is the same: you'r

First Impressions: Smash Bros. 3DS Demo

So, the Smash Bros. 3DS demo is finally here; the general public's first taste of Smash 4. What do I think of it? It's really good. I was worried about playing Smash on a small screen, but it plays really well. It's smooth and it's fast; the fighters move at a constant 60 FPS. The controls are perfect; every action is mapped to the right button. I had a little difficulty pulling off smash attacks at first, but I've got it down no. Overall, it's a ton of fun, and SSB4 could be the best Smash yet

Mini Review! Pokémon Yellow!

Check out my Red and Blue review here!: http://mlpforums.com/blog/589/entry-12908-pokémon-red-and-blue-review/   So, at the same time that Red and Blue came stateside, something else did: the Pokémon anime. Arguably more iconic and well known than the games, the Pokémon anime was a smash success. Naturally, our old friends at Game Freak wanted to capatalize on this success, and what better way to do that than to make a new version of Red and Blue with elements taken from the show? Actually, th

First Impressions: Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

This isn't gonna be structured like my normal reviews; I'm just gonna be spouting thoughts as I think of them.   And what do I think of it? I LOVE IT. This is my first real foray in to the Zelda series; I dabbled with Ocarina, but it wasn't my cup of tea. This game, though? It was exactly what I wanted. The super open-ended nature was really cool (though I admit to using a walkthrough). The fact that you could go anywhere at anytime was awesome. The dungeons had really clever designs and puzz

Pokémon Red and Blue Review!

"Welcome to the world of Pokémon!"   Welcome, indeed. In 1995, two games hit Japanese store shelves; Pocket Monsters Red Version, and Pocket Monsters Green Version. These games, which were all about collecting, trading, and battling 150 different monsters, launched a phenomon in Japan that is nearly without compare. And so, Nintendo and Game Freak knew it had to be shared with the rest of the world.   Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version were finally released in the US of A in 1998.

Should I move my reviews somewhere else?

So, here's the deal: I put a ton of effort in to my reviews, but they seem to mostly be falling on deaf ears. So, I'm thinking it may be a good idea to move reviews and any future projects to somewhere else, such as Blogspot or Tumblr. What do you think?

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Album Review

"God only knows what I'd be without you..."   Hello, readers, and welcome back! Today, we're covering my favorite album of all time: Pet Sounds.   First things first, yes; I am skipping an album. That album would be Party!, an acoustic cover album from late 1965. I'm skipping it because there really isn't much to say about it.   Second thing's second: I will be taking a break from the Boys after this review, to focus on some other projects. Don't worry, though. One of the projects I want t

"I wish they all could be California girls..."   Boy, I really ought to do these more quickly. These have been coming out on a monthly basis! Sorry.   Hello, and welcome back! Today, I'm covering The Beach Boys' second album of 1965, Summer Days!   HISTORY After the shift in style seen on Today!, Capital asked Brian Wilson to make more "Beach Boys style music" for the next studio album. Despite the album's carefree, summer-y themes, reminscent of All Summer Long, Brian produced complex,

Winds of Change

Farewell, friends. I figured I'd just be blunt with it. You may have noticed my lack of activity as of late. I've felt...disconnected from ths community; like I don't belong here.   To be honest, I don't know why I'm making this post. It's not like anyone'll miss me. Still, I figured it'd be the right thing to do.   This place was home for me for quite some time. I had so much fun here in 2013, especially in the summer. I felt like part of the community. But I just don't feel as invested no

"I built all my goals around you, that someday my love would surround you..."   Salutations, and welcome back. This time, I'll be covering The Beach Boys Today!   HISTORY After the end of a stressful 1964 for the Boys, they decided to look past surf rock, wanting to avoid becoming stale. They began work on new songs. However, early in the sessions, Brian Wilson suffered an anxiety attack. He asked the Boys if he could stop touring, to which they reluctantly agreed. Bruce Johnston took Brian

"Check my custom machine..."   Hello, and welcome to my Beach Boys album review series! This time, I'm covering Little Deuce Coupe.   HISTORY: Now, you may be saying "But Callie!
