Why do i still play Tekkit?

So apparently the new build of Tekkit is the best ever. By that i mean, they changed engines in a very interesting way. They no longer work.

They apparently have switched to a new form of energy, and machines no longer accept the old kind, but instead of removing the old engines, or making them use the new kind, they just made it so after you create the thing, you find out it burns up coal, but does nothing in return.

And as usual the site has little to no information, so there isn’t any way to find out how to get better engines. I tried going in creative mode, but the only thing that worked was bio-fuel, which A. Is very late in the game, you are going to want to actually use machinery before you have gone that far (which is no longer possible), and B. When i used it, the interface for the machine became horrible glitched, red, and basically there’s no way this is just a change of style.

So in short, THANKS FOR NOT WARNING US THAT THE NEW BUILD A. Will make your old world stop working - even if you go back to an older build, and B. Doesn’t work for shit.

The volcanoes and marble are cool and all, but all machinery in the game becoming obsolete, as well as the removal of my entire world (which quite a lot of time was spent on, and i WASN’T DONE WITH YET) isn’t worth some white and black rocks.

And yeah for anyone that this applies to, i would strongly recommend to hold off on this build if it isn’t too late, or at least back up your save file first.

I never really used the engines other than the redstone engines and electric engines, though I use FTB so they may use different engines. But even when I used Tekkit, I only used the 3 basic starter engines. I never upgraded them or got far enough in my worlds to want to upgrade them.

By the three basic you mean, redstone, stirling, and steam right? Yeah, those are the ones that no longer work. You put them down and they face up, and cannot be changed for direction. If you plug on into a machine, put in fuel, and pull a lever it burns the coal, but it doesnt pump, or do anything to the machine.

Yeah those 3. I don't know why they'd do that. I mean I could understand them changing them if it was cause of another mod or something.

Yeah i could understand taking them out and replacing them, or having them produce different energy, but instead you just find out you wasted the materials.

This may not help very much now, but from personal experience, I can highly recommend not trusting anyone with software upgrades - not even the software vendor. Take a working backup before your next upgrade; it'll save you a lot of grief if and when it doesn't go as planned. ;)
