Theories On The Jedi And Sith Codes

I just saw these interesting Youtube videos from this guy posing an alternate take on the Jedi and Sith philosophies saying that the Jedi aren't as perfect as the movies often portray and that there are parts of the Sith Code that actually make a lot of sense even if they are violated by a lot of Sith.

Those were very good videos, however I have to disagree with him. The Jedi were aware that emotions were corrupting, and indeed Anakin became a murderous childish moron when he fell in love. The Jedi Code encourages you to seek the truth rather than to do what you feel is right.

While I wouldn't go so far as he did to suggest that the Jedi are "evil" I do quesiton certain parts of their philosophy and agree that they are not as perfect as the movies often portray. Their view regarding "attachments" is particularly flawed because it denies their human side stunting their emotional growth and making it more difficult for them to properly channel certain emotions when they come up. The Jedi are incorrect about emotions being inherrantly corrupting, it is not emotions themselves but merely how they are channel that makes them good or bad.

Even anger which is seen as a negative emotion if properly channeled can be made into something positive of course there is a difference between anger and blind rage. Many of the Sith seem to go to other extreme and let their emotions rule them, they are correct that emotions can be channeled and should be but the way many of them do makes the emotions control them instead of the other way around.

Aversion is just as bad and limiting as Attachment. The traditional Jedi way does stunt emotional growth. Emotion must be faced and dealt with head on in order to learn how to handle it. The Jedi leave their self weak to handle emotions, through their aversion, so its no wonder they become so corrupted by it when the emotions do leak through.
