Prologue

Fluttershyfan1286

It was a peaceful night in the land of Equestria as the moon of Princess Luna illuminated the evening sky. In the small town of Ponyville, all of the townsfolk were asleep in their beds, except for a certain timid yellow Pegasus. While her animal friends were all asleep in their own little homes, Fluttershy lay in her bed silently gazing outside her window toward the star filled sky.

The light of the moon reflected in her sky blue eyes that stung with quiet tears as she let out a calm sigh. She let her head hang low as a frown formed across her face. Oh, how I wish I could have a filly or colt to call my own. I know I have Angel, and all of my other animals to take care of, but it would be nice to have my own son or daughter.

She rubbed at a foreleg with the other. I can see the joy on the faces of my friends when I see them with their families. Twilight has Spike who is not just her loyal assistant, but more of a son or little brother to her. Rarity and Applejack have their sisters, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom to look after. Pinkie Pie takes care of the Cake twins, and Rainbow Dash is like a big sister to Scootaloo. Everypony has a family except for me. She blinked her eyes as a tear fell upon her pillow.

She closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh. She raised her head up and gazed at the moon once again. “Oh, precious moon of Princess Luna, I ask for you to grant me this wish I wish tonight. One day, I wish I can become the mother or big sister of a little colt or filly.” She let out another deep sigh as she wiped away a stray tear with her foreleg. She tucked it back underneath her, laid her head down on her pillow, and closed her eyes softly to sleep.

In the kingdom of Canterlot, Princess Luna was standing on the balcony of Canterlot Castle watching over all the land. Suddenly she heard the mind of Fluttershy as she turned her attention toward Ponyville and at her cottage. She closed her eyes to listen carefully to the pegasus’ thoughts. After hearing the wish Fluttershy made, Luna let a lonely tear fall from her eye.

“Do not worry my dear friend Fluttershy, for thine wish shalt be fulfilled in time,” she thought to herself as she smiled warmly and gazed up at the evening sky.

On Earth, night has also fallen upon the small community of Willow Creek Falls where a young child by the name of Toby Mason lives. He is a six year old boy who has a genuine caring personality, and he is also a young soul who has already endured a great loss in his life. While heading to pick him up from school, his mother Ashley Mason was in a terrible car accident that took her life. This was one year ago.

Toby sat on the edge of his bed with his head hung low facing the floor. Tears streamed down his face after having his heart shattered by his own father a few minutes ago. Toby’s body shuddered with heavy sobs. He was unable to speak after his father James Mason entered his room and started verbally assaulting him with hurtful things. James called him a weak and pathetic little brat, but worst of all he blamed Toby for Ashley being gone. Before he left to go to his own bedroom, James smacked his son across the face and spat on the floor.

Toby allowed the last remaining tears to fall from his eyes as he carefully took off his eyeglasses and set them on the desk beside his bed. He sniffled as he raised his head to look outside his bedroom window and gazed at the moon.

He stood up from his bed, walked toward the window, and clasped his hands together as he closed his. He let out a deep sigh before speaking softly to himself.

Star light, star bright,

first star I see tonight.

I wish I may, I wish I might,

have this wish I wish tonight.

“Oh, I wish I had a new home to live, and a new family that would love me and never be mean to me.” He bowed his head and kissed his closed hands as he looked up at the moon one more time. “Goodnight mommy, I love you,” he whispered to himself as he walked back to his bed, climbed in to cover up, and closed his eyes softly.

As he was sleeping peacefully, a sudden white light appeared and surrounded his sleeping form with a warm aura. The light suddenly engulfed him, and in a flash he was gone from his bed.
