Is the MLP CCG suffering because it is in fact MLP related?

One thing that has irked me about the CCG is the lack of spread it has, I have played very few games and those games have been at Brony meets. Because only bronies seem to have the cards. What am I getting at do you wonder? Well I'll explain my stance on the card game. I love it not because it is MLP but because in general it is a clever and actually well thought out card game, sure it has some balancing issues but what CCG doesn't?

Now why do I think it is suffering? Well I'll tell you, I live in the capital city of Wales and know 4 local stores that specialize in CCG and Board games. I have been to each one of them asking if they will ever stock the MLP:CCG and I've been met with ignorance to it's existence which is probably down to poor advertising or the fact that the advertising is very poor for it. I was also meant with "No." when I asked why they replied "Because it's a brony thing." Needless to say I was flabbergasted by the rude response and left the store almost immediately.

But then it got me to thinking, is it the fact that it is an MLP related product that could be making the card game suffer a bit. I took it to one of the stores to actually ask them and told them about the rules and the cards and I'm known at these stores cause I by board games and CCG's all the time. So when I asked about what they thought of it, they were actually impressed by how in-depth it could get and the tactics you could use. Eventually though we all agreed that this game would of probably been better off if it ditch the MLP licensing and made their own game based on these rules.

Only one store stocks the CCG at the moment and have literally admitted that they only keep stocking them because I buy most of them and the rest sell here and there. It's hard to determine whether or not the card game is suffering via the MLP licensing but judging by that one stores rude statement, I think that it may be.

I'm actually very surprised to hear this! From what I can tell, the MLP CCG is doing very well over here in the states. I see it in every wal-mart, game or "nerdy" store, and my local comic book store even hosts meetups to play it in addition to selling the cards (or at least it did/does periodically). Basically, around here if you find a place that sells trading cards, it's almost a definite that it sells MLP cards. There were even tournaments for it at Boston Comic-con this summer!

Maybe it's different in the UK, but in the US it seems that MLP:CCG is taking off because of its licensing, not in spite of it.

As for that store that was so rude, I'm appalled but not very surprised. It sounds like you just wandered into one of those "nerd-elitist" venues, the same kind of place where an employee would see a woman walking in and make an unsolicited comment about where she can find the girly princess games...

Well this same venue banned Vanguard games because the players were to loud and eventually they kicked out MTG players too, this is the same store I used to be loyal too, I don't know what has happened to them in the past year or so but you are correct, they became very elitist.
