Joke from the 1850's and a rant on politics

Chickens and corn

Guy 1: How do chickens eat corn?

Guy 2: I gives it up!

Guy 1: Why, by the pack! (pack ,as in a pack of wolves or something)

And now, for a rant on politicals. I am pretty tired of those crooked politicans that run the US. I'm sure by now their crookedness has rendered them beyond recongization as a human being. I'm hoping some one will invent regeneration. And not zombies, I mean full generation. I would bring Thomas Jefferson from the dead and let him work his magic. I am pretty close to the consitituion, with the amendments as well. But think both parties are stupid. We should just come together and work for a goal they both have, the future of America. (I hope it's a good future).

I don't mean to sound like a radical nut, but we're turning into a police state. I'm sure nowadays it's not so different from when Stalin ruled. Exepct they don't send you to death camps (yet) and you aren't required to have a portrait of Obama in you house (yet).

Cops using excessive force is the norm now. And if a cop is convicted of excessive force/brutality (Which is quite rare) they may get 2 years in prison, but they get out in about a week. A week! One freaking WEEK! it just blows my mind that we are doing nothing. London had high gas prices and high poverty rates, and they started blowing up police cars and smashing buildings and assulting riot police. I wanna see change..FOR GOOD!, NOT FOR WORSE!

Not to be a downer, but Thomas Jefferson was actually one of the most partisan politicians of his time. He frequently got into arguments with Alexander Hamilton over the size and role of the Federal Government. So bringing him back would only add to the political rhetoric we currently see.

As for our country, yes I want to see everyone work together, but the nature of politics is for them to disagree and figure out policy around those disagreements. With the police state I fail to see your point, probably because my liberalness biases me but here are a few things I would consider things common in a police state:

1. 24 Hour Tracking and surveillance. Practically unconstitutional according the Supreme Court. Police can only monitor in public places, which is common sense since anyone can monitor you.

2. National/Secret Police Force. Does not exist. The FBI and CIA are intelligence agencies and have limited range, especially on US Citizens.

3. Omnipresent Military. Our military is under civilian control and is designed to be that way. They are limited in what they can do and how they act. Plus it is all volunteers, who willingly give their lives for this country.

As for London, the British have always had issues with the Police, it's just in their nature to not like them. Here, not so much. We don't mind the police as long as they are limited in scope, which they are.

On a side note, the joke was funny.

You have some good points. But how come people are labeling militas as "Terriorists"? They're basically the national guard. They're not really part of the military but they're like resistance fighters

I love historical jokes :D I'm a total history buff.

I agree with you about politics, but sadly I don't see any change coming anytime soon. We do have a government which is ever expanding beyond its established boundaries, and our government has largely lost any sort of meaningful connection with the duty of serving the people.

I definitely see what you mean about the police too. I've been complaining about them for years.
