Economics

I think I've taken one economics class in my life and I didn't really understand it, but I'm gonna give my input anyway.

I think people who act as if there's one end all be all way to manage an economy are kind of stupid. There's plenty of economic strategies that work. On paper. Yes, thousands of economic plans that work on paper.

Well the truth is economic plans and strategies are bound to have ups and downs, its inevitable. Not only because there are so many contributing factors that make controlling and predicting the highs and low's of an economy effectively impossible but because economies are dependent on people - which are even more unpredictable.

Lets talk for a second about communism. Communism is dependent on people doing their jobs and giving and taking their share as is determined by the government. Well, there's a couple problems with this that I see: 1. It is dependent on everyone doing their job effectively and being satisfied with what they're being given in return; and 2. That the morale of the people is upheld

If not enough is being produced because people are not happy with what the're receiving for their work, or because the masses do only the absolute minimum of what is required of them, and in turn everyone is given scraps because what is given is according to need - then the people who work the hardest will stop or slow down and progress will come to a stand still. Once the collective is going down hill being fed scraps after all I hardly think any single man is going to start working harder

Now lets examine the near complete opposite side of the spectrum: anarcho-capitalism. Lets assume for a moment that everyone is getting along and not killing each other in the streets. There will be people who have a harder time making it while others sit comfortably on top. This is the harsh reality. But there is undoubtedly more freedom and opportunity to help yourself. People produce and innovate and work harder to make a better life for themselves, and as long as they do this the overall economy will thrive

There are a hundred thousand different economic philosophies inbetween, and the overall outcome is completely dependent on the mindset of the collective. It's easy to say "if everyone just does their part it will work!" on paper, but when people are working hard and getting little in return you can not expect them to continue purely out of duty on behalf of someone they don't even know, especially when there may be much more simple jobs that demand less work and give the same benefits.

So in conclusion, there is no one economic strategy that will bring prosperity to everyone, and anyone who think's that there is is stupid. Prosperity demands hard work from everyone both in mind and body, and there is no strategical shortcut that will ever change that
