In the world of truck driving many great faces are often not recognized for the hard physically demanding work they do, UPS has a special way of recognizing the talents of hardworking employees.

Overview: ​UPS Drivers who go 25 years without a "preventable" accident are inducted into the Circle of Honor. A prestigious group of veteran drivers who have also achieved that milestone. Their name is added to the list of other drivers, a small ceremony at the office is held where other drivers will take a moment to acknowledge their coworker and finally the driver is awarded a special jacket and patches for uniforms which display their years of safe driving.

​Its important to note that in 25 years UPS Drivers may have delivered millions of packages and have dodged nearly all types of traffic and obstructions. Cars pulling out in front, inattentive pedestrians and stray animals could have all caused accidents.

UPS Drivers From Germany Inducted into the Circle of Honor

 


UPS has also inspired other companies to follow suit, FedEx, PepsiCo, also have similar awards for safe drivers.

UPS Driver Ronnie McKnight is often hailed as having the most impressive record, driving for 46 years in New York City and never having an accident while on his routes in the Manhattan area.

 

Of the 7,000 plus drivers in the Circle of Honor only about 70 have 40 years safe driving.

 

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters truck drivers union also help recognize the work of these drivers.
