We've read nine of the novels; I also started pretty late. x )  Have fun with the likes of Rincewind, Granny Weatherwax, DEATH (of all, um, people - I guess), Great A'Tuin, and an ever-growing cast of interesting characters.

At the mo it's bedtime reading so probably going to be slow - but the comedy is really good.
