This is going to be a new thing I do from now on when I read, I'll leave summaries here for those interested.

In the same vain as the Silver Standard, we have the point of which Spoiled Rich and Filthy Rich meet for the first time. Important to realize that Spoiled Rich in this line of fics, is Diamond's stepmom.

Spoiled Rich gets a lot of undeserved hate. On the surface, you can easily hate her. She is mean, snooty, and obsessed with control. That is what you see on the surface in the show. But when you delve deeper into these sorts of fics, you begin to see that she has a legacy she was born into, her name was never her choice, and this is the life she grew up in. She's trying to navigate and find a relationship because all of her other connections went off and got married, got foals, and she's here floundering in the wind at the pit of it all trying to find a way to climb back up and get a successful relationship. Both because of social status, and that she wants to move forward in life. An admirable, if normal goal to have. Get a family, have kids, and pass on the best of you. At her age, 41, time's only getting faster and the available pool for her to choose from is only getting smaller.

Filthy Rich's wife left him, for whatever reason we cannot see - the two did not work out, and in that environment, Diamond would not have flourished. Spoiled sees Diamond as a younger version of herself, that she wants to mold the "right" way so that perhaps Diamond can have a better life than hers. Spoiled latches on and dives deep within the span of a few minutes, with someone she's not had much connection with. She's like a hawk, who knows what she wants, and knows how to get it, to sink her talons in and dive into her desires. Of course she's in it for the money as well, that's always part of it. Spoiled Rotten - quite a name to give a foal and she isn't happy with it.

Spoiled sees Diamond as a tool, but also as someone to care for. It is both yin and yang with her, she is a bit creepy with how she looks at those photos and is already thinking about plans with her, with someone she's never even seen before in person, from only photographs. But it is what she must do, to advance her life forward. Spoiled is just someone with a given set of circumstances, finding her way. Just like anyone else. She isn't a mean pony for no reason, she isn't a bully. Filthy Rich would know better than to pick someone like that to be his wife, as he probably has been through many relations, and knows what to look for in someone to raise his daughter alongside him.

Spoiled Rich just happened to come along, and boom, we got what we got in the show. Would make an interesting AU if Spoiled Rich was never brought into the fold, and Diamond grew up differently, how would that have shaped her view on things, as well as her relations with the CMC, Silver Spoon, etc? Would she even be recognizable? All good questions to ask.
