If you Have a Youtube Channel, Please, Read This (CIRCUMVENTION POLICY)

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well and I wish you all a Happy Christmas and New Year 2026. Sorry but unfortunately, i'm here to give bad news, but it's also very important for everyone here to understand this, at least those who have a Youtube channel and like to upload videos, those who care about their own content.

I used to have two channels on Youtube. One that already existed for years, and the other one was more recent. I started the older channel making original content, but as time passed, I made a lot of videos with copyrighted content, but I did my best to avoid copyright strikes. But the efforts were worthless and a few years later, I received multiple copyright strikes in a very short time frame, leading to the termination of the channel.

In the new channel I would be reuploading my original content and also upload more original content, but unfortunately, the termination of the older channel doomed this new channel. The older channel was deleted in March, 2025. The new one, in September 2025. So it took 6 months for Youtube to get rid of my most recent channel. Remember this.

What does the termination of the older channel have to do with the termination of the newer channel?

Well. This:

This is the email I received back when my most recent channel was deleted. At first, you may think that it doesn't say anything, but once you try clicking the part written in blue “Circumvention Policy” (this page: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802168) you'll understand the disaster.

“Circumvention of channel termination

If your YouTube channel is terminated, you are prohibited from using, possessing, or creating any other YouTube channels. You are also prohibited from letting others whose YouTube channels have been terminated use your YouTube channel to bypass their termination.

This applies to all of your existing channels, any new channels you create or acquire, and any channels in which you are repeatedly or prominently featured.”

Also, Note that at the end of the email, part of this explanation is already present there.

So with this, we can get to a conclusion.

My Old channel is deleted —> Youtube Prevents me from using or creating any other new Channels —> My Newer Channel is deleted

So my newer channel was already being considered for this new policy, created in 2025. And I have to tell something that is also very important. Unfortunately, it also doesn't matter if you created your new channel before the termination of the older one. My newer channel was created in 2023, 2 years before YouTube deleted the older one.

So for Youtube, it doesn't matter if your newer channel was created before the older one disappeared. Just the fact that the newer one started to exist after the creation of the older one is already a reason for them to consider the termination of the new channel as well. Yes, your new channel is deleted just because it exists. Not because of copyright, not because of its content, no, only its existence, and Youtube dooms it, because you had a channel previously deleted by them.

Now you may wonder, this is so terrible, why is no one talking about this?

Well, to be fair, there are a lot of people talking about this actually, but…

Screenshot_20251216_003137_YouTube.thumb.jpg.947871a9180bce816845bbe47fc1e4e4.jpg Screenshot_20251216_002946_YouTube.thumb.jpg.0d8603f1ba1622b9d51b670abcff9411.jpg

For some reason, they are all Indians only. This is a recurring topic in the Indian bubble, but it just doesn't get out of there, I have no idea why, but they're the only ones talking about this new policy on the platform. I did see some American people and people from other regions talking about it, but it just can't compare. The rest of the world is almost completely unaware of this as far as I know.

I can't explain why, but I believe this happens because, excluding the Indians, people see the email, read “Cricumvention Policy” and its meaning, and believe that what happened to them, makes no sense, so they believe that Youtube has deleted their channels for no reason, that it was a mistake, because indeed, it's not people's fault for believing that there was no reason for it, Youtube doesn't especifically say “this happened because you already had a previously deleted channel that violated our guidelines”, it only says that you violated this Circumvention policy and can no longer create new channels. This can easily confuse people, because they won't make the connection between this event and a channel that they had in the past. A channel deleted years ago could be the reason for this, after all, this new policy was introduced this year, 2025, only, as far as I know. So the users definitely can not be blamed for this, it is a clear communication problem from Youtube.

And of course, people will think there's no reason for it. The reason exists, but it's absurd.

To write this post and make sure that this was still happening, I kept an eye on certain channels, to see if any of them would be deleted.

One of them was deleted, and his friend (a popular youtuber in my region) reported it. The guy created a new channel, and his friend shared this new channel for everyone to see. His friend said that he received a generic email from Youtube, not explaining what happened and why his channel was deleted (like I said, people can't make the connections due to YT's poor communication)

I tried to get in contact with these two, the guy who got his channel deleted and his friend. Fortunately they answered me. I asked if this guy had a channel in the past that no longer exists. Both confirmed that yes, a now deleted channel existed in the past, so yes, the guy was a victim of this new policy.

The guy told me that he would try to continue with the new channel despite this new problem in the platform. Well, he told me this in October, 2025. His new channel is now gone, I saved one of his videos in a playlist so I could keep checking if his channel was still okay, and well, I checked it again a few days ago, and now it's no longer there. Below a screencap of what's left from his channel.

Screenshot_20251215_234055_YouTube.thumb.jpg.5bbfcb87fe26ff62b8eb43ae12e48787.jpg

2 months, only 2 months after the termination of his previous channel. It took 6 months for my newer channel to be deleted after the termination of the older one, this guy only took 2. Youtube is shortening this process more and more. (I'm waiting to see his friend's reaction, unfortunately it's how it is, I told them that his new channel would be deleted in a few months, and it was shorter this time)

So you may wonder, there is no way to escape from this? Can't I find a way to create a new channel and avoid this?

Well, unfortunately, sorry, I can't do anything to help, I do have a few good things to say, but when it comes to saving your deleted channel, I don't think it's possible.

I watched some of the Indian videos, some of them give possible ways to solve this. And well, I can tell that their methods can work, but I repeat, CAN WORK, nothing guaranteed.

They mainly say that you have to make an appeal, saying that you won't make any mistakes and be kind when asking them to give back your access to your channel. And that's all, I couldn't find any other ways to solve it, and this one is definitely not guaranteed to work. I tried making an appeal myself, and no luck.

Some of these Indian videos also said that Youtube can use your IP in order to identify your new channel. I don't know if it's true, but just in case, maybe using a VPN could help, but I also don't think that's guaranteed to work and I don't want to take the risk of testing it, so I'm not recommending anything. 100% up to you.

So if you have a youtube channel, and had another channel in the past that no longer exists, and of course, that was created before your current channel, please watch out, your channel can be eliminated at any moment, not even a chance to warn you and give some days to save all your videos before the termination. No, backup everything as soon as you can and save it somewhere else.

If you have a youtube channel, and never had a terminated channel before, then you have more luck, but be very careful with your channel, do your best to avoid any copyright strikes or other violations.

I do have two positive things to say.

First, if you have a channel that has been terminated, but you have an older channel that is still active, then you also have some luck, it seems that this policy doesn't affect older channels, only new ones, so only new channels can be deleted due to the termination of an older one. The reverse can't happen. I am the proof for this, yes, my newer and older channels have been terminated, but I have an even older channel that still exists to this day. So this new policy only works upwards from the channels created after a specific one that would later go through a termination. So in case you end up being a victim of this policy and have one or more older channels, they can be your escape.

Also, for those who fear that you may not be able to use Youtube after the termination of your channel. Don't worry, it seems that you are only prohibited from uploading videos. You are still allowed to use the platform, watch videos, comment, you're just not allowed to post videos, probably live streams as well, etc. I created a new account, no videos uploaded, I only use it to watch videos and it's still here.

Of course, maybe Youtube is only taking longer to delete my new account, so in case my current account ends up being deleted as well, I'll come here to update you guys about the fact that you also aren't allowed to create a new account, even if it doesn't feature any videos uploaded. But so far, 3 months and still nothing.

This is something that made me really angry, and only shows how greedy Youtube became, how the site keeps getting worse and worse, more stupid decisions. I was so dumb for trusting that they would keep my old original videos saved, my new channel started as a backup for content made in my childhood. Now it's gone. Thank you Youtube.

This shows how comfortable they feel for having full control of the monopoly of videos and Influencers, because, there's no discussion here, Youtube is a monopoly when it comes to watching videos, live streams and following influencers. Twitch is definitely not a competitor, and other places such as Tik Tok, despite the huge success, do not work the same way. So Youtube can do anything they want, any decision that will be worse for its users and creators, and now, they are forcing their creators and users to leave the platform and create their content somewhere else. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but let's remember that the site has a big problem with fake and unfair copyright strikes. So they're also going to ban these people who made nothing wrong as well?

That's why I gave up on the platform, I no longer want to upload videos on it, I shouldn't have trusted it.

Uploading videos in other sites or platforms is what I recommend, because it's what will be left to do.

Such a disaster, that's how they treat the people that made them bigger. And there's nothing that can be done, unless they change up their minds, but I doubt they will do this, things will get worse.

I'm sharing this because I believe it's very important for everyone to see. I do not expect for this to change, but the more people learn about this, the smaller the damage will be, so I'm doing this for this reason. Though I do believe there's a small hope for one thing. With more people learning about this, with more people spreading this. Maybe, just maybe, a big number of people complaining about this could reach to the YT Team and convince them to stop with this.

I'm one insignificant soul and barely anyone cares about me or knows me in the entire internet, so a change can only happen with a large group of people complaining. Maybe you guys could help with this, but if you don't want to, it's okay, I don't want to ask anyone to spread or share this. But remember, if you have a friend with a youtube channel, go and tell them about this, it can help them avoid the headache of losing years of content.

Thank you for reading, have good holidays ~☆

Does this count towards lost YouTube channels too? I lost my original one because I made it when I was a kid and had my (no longer working) school email attached to it. My current channel is actually my second one.

I'm sorry to hear about your channel! :comforting-hug: The copyright strikes are out of control! Meanwhile, there's a lot of vile content out there that gets to stay up. :grimacy-posey:

I've owned several YouTube channels in the past and not a single one of them got terminated luckily, though I deleted my last remaining YouTube channel earlier this year because YouTube has been doing things that I've deemed unacceptable (specifically the anti-adblock policies and their failed attempt at encrypting their videos with DRM in an effort to block downloading).

I've noticed that the attached screenshot of YouTube's policies state that a channel can be terminated for "repeated Terms of Service violations", well they now claim that the use of adblockers violate their Terms of Service, so it will only be a matter of time until we start seeing them terminate channels for using ad blocking extensions.

I plan on migrating my content to the Internet Archive and possibly Rumble in the near future, though there's nothing too exciting for me to share since I mainly posted Emergency Alert System recordings which were among the only type of videos I made that weren't affected by the infamous YouTube COPPA update issued back in 2019.

With "lost" I believe you meant that you lost access to it but that the channel itself was not deleted, right? Then it's fine and you have nothing to worry. I believe it's also fine if you even deleted the channel by yourself. The true problem is when it's Youtube the one deleting your channel. I'm not sure what would happen if your first channel was deleted, if this would doom your current channel or not. Maybe the fact that you used a email that no longer works can prevent Youtube from detecting the connection between the two accounts (because they use your Google accounts as basis, also used to create the channels), or even if you used a different IP for the former. But no assurance, sorry.

Yup. For sure. I had a very active and thriving channel making content and money but it got sniped because someone downloaded my videos, reuploaded them and then flagged mine as copyright. Like, YouTube - what? I posted those video first? :Pip-giggle: Can you not see the dates or maybe have your automated thing not work if the date is after the original one? How does you explain this? XD

Either way, sorry you lost your channel, Angel. :c

Let me know if there is any way that I can help.
