Entry N:o 2

Early evening

Behold, the flaws of human nature! As I go to school today, I see dozens of bikes parked incorrectly simply because someone parked theirs in the wrong place and everyone followed the example. Why can't people use their own brains?! Bloody hell!

True story.

On a lighter note, I recently got my first and only top comment on YouTube. Apparently I own the Internet now.

Lately, I've become interested in quantum mechanics. It's a bit odd, because I'm not really interested in classical physics or, indeed, mathematics. I should delve deeper into this...

I don't like it when people greet me with "How are you doing?" or "What's up?" Answering those types of questions is always awkward to me: what kind of an answer are they expecting? I hate using cliches like "Nothing much" or "All right". It's just silly. Maybe it's just me, though.

It's interesting how much language has to do with human intelligence. Children who grow up out of contact with civilization and don't adopt a language will have a hard time learning even the most basic skills and knowledge later on, when brought to society. Even if you're very "visually intelligent", it won't help you in understanding complicated, abstract concepts. You can really only learn advanced things such as philosophy by reading and having conversations.

I borrowed the fourth book in a series of H. P. Lovecraft's short stories a few days ago from the library. I really like them! I've been thinking about what exactly is so attractive in those kinds of stories: they mostly tell of horrifying and depressing things. I suppose it's thanatos; the counterpart to libido; the passion for death and stagnation. As repulsive as that may sound, it's something all people experience at some time or another. It's the feeling of looking down into a deep abyss and having the desire to jump. It's stronger in some people than in others, and doesn't necessarily correlate with depression.

It's weird, but fascinating.

Hmm... let's finish with some wanton randomness.

Just because I can.
