Confusion among the schools

As most of you are aware, December's tragic school shooting has left a deep impact on all of us. The being that came in and fired on all those kids and teachers, the thoughts that many of them would never be able to make it to Christmas spurred many reactions from rage to sadness but also confusion. As such, many precautions have been made to prevent things like that from happening again. Obama has issued gun laws which (your mileage may vary on this one) should help reduce the risk of shootings. And most of all, teachers and other school faculties everywhere have been on high alert for the all too real chance of another incident like that one....

So much so that they see the threat in even the most stupidest of things!

Let's start with the most recent of overreaction which happened in Maryland:

Some kid had the balls to chew off his pop tart into the shape of a gun (he was trying to make a mountain) and making some shooting noise.

That's right. This piece of pastry caused a boy's suspension!

I guess that this sort of thing might cause the innocent mind of the child to think that shooting people is fun. You know, unlike arcade games. Hell, a first grader was even suspended for pointing his finger like a gun! Ban that thing, that finger is lethal!

But enough about about guns. Let's play a bit of Fresh Prince of- oh wait. That song is apparently a threat.

Apparently, a receptionist in Pennsylvania never heard of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and when she heard the song, she thought that he was "shooting some people outside of school".

To anyone who's heard the song (or has a fully functioning pair of ears), that line goes "shooting some B-BALL outside of school". You know, like BASKET BALL?

But anyways, this caused schools in Beaver County to go on lockdown until the dangerous man was found.

So yeah. I understand the threat of a school shooting (especially after a girl was murdered in back of MY school on my first year) but that's no excuse to give up your common sense for paranoia.

While it IS true that the chances of another shooting are low, it's the results of a shooting that they're trying to avoid: hundreds of dead bodies. The chances of a nuclear meltdown or a plane accident are also low but the results are the same. Hell, I even thought the chances of a murder around me would be low but wouldn't you know it, a murder happened behind my school at the beginning of my first year of college!

Safety precautions would prevent the body count from going up. Doesn't mean none of them are stupid (nor make sense)!
