Guns from the 1870's and the 1940's!
So, I was going to a gunshop to get some black powder (we're rolling rounds like the devil in preparation for the 150th Gettysburg), we decided to stop by a gun store we don't usually go by for some reason, probably because lots of the stuff we need is at a closer gun shop.
But nonetheless, we entered! And that store had a gold mine of guns!
In the selection, there were three that stood out to me:
A 1916 Spanish Mauser (Bascially a k98)
A m1903 Springfield
And my personal favorite: An 1870's Trapdoor Springfield!
The Trapdoor springfield is really interesting. After the muzzle loading rifles, the trapdoors spring was one of the first breach loading rifles. It was also one of the first, if not the first, gun to use the bullets we think of today, brass tubes with a charge in them.
Bascially, the bullet goes into that little chamber there. Then you close the breach, cock the hammer, and fire! It didn't even need a percussion cap! It was one of the first "modern" guns, if you think about it, though these were soon replaced by bolt action rifles.
(Why am I getting so worked up over this? XD)
Here's a pic of the Trapdoor:
