Are nerds really all nice guys? Are jocks really that much worse? (rant)

So, I always hear people say that nerds are the "nice guys" and that the jocks are the "douchebags" but is that always the case? When I was in high school a few years back, a lot of the nerds I interacted with were complete assholes, no offense. This one guy would do nothing but say "no shit, dumbass" to me every time I said something. The nerds, from what I could tell, tended to be smart asses and really cocky. And this one guy thought he was so fucking cool cause he played Dungeons & Dragons and he was all showing it off to the hot girls in the class and it was just so funny to me lol. And there was this other guy who was just a complete dick to everyone and he thought he was the fucking shit because he was like the smartest kid in the school lol. Not that all nerds were assholes, but when they weren't being assholes, they were just annoying most of the time...except for this one guy that I was pretty cool with. And I'm not saying jocks aren't douchebags a lot of the time either. They are so fucking full of themselves because they play sports and get all the hot cheerleader chicks, and they think they are better than everyone else because they are popular and whatever. They also tended to be pretty rude to anyone who wasn't one of them, as if people who weren't popular were beneath them. However, I knew one guy who was a jock cause we had been friends back in like third grade, and he was a pretty nice guy, actually. So, my point is, I hear people act like nerds are all the nice guys and jocks are all the douchebags, but I knew both nerds and jocks who were assholes, and frankly, I knew more asshole nerds than I did jocks. I'm not stereotyping and saying all nerds/jocks are like this, but it's just something I observed back in high school. I didn't associate myself with either nerds nor jocks, I just hung out with my friends that I knew and got along with. But I don't like to put labels on myself, so yeah. And again, I know most people aren't assholes, especially people here on the forums lol, I was just talking about people at my school that I knew. I'm definitely not saying all people are assholes lol.

I think the smart guys are just getting cocky. I got a C in Math once and this guy saw my grade and he tried holding in his sniggering. I felt like stepping on his foot, but I didn't. Oh well. Not everybody is a nice person >.<.

I mean, I'm a smart guy, but I'm not a cocky asshole like a lot of guys are. This one guy kept calling me a retard and a dumbass just because I didn't know how to use some code for web design, but it was my first time taking the class, so how the heck could I know how to do it when I had never learned it before??? He was such a dick.

I know what you mean. Actually, I've found a lot of jocks to be real nice guys. It's not just playing [insert sport] that makes them popular, it's their personality. A jock who's a complete asshole won't be nearly as well-loved as a genuinely good guy who just so happens to be athletic.

Likewise, I've run into my fair share of unpleasant, rude-ass nerds. Worst I've ever run into was a raging weaboo in a Japanese class I was taking. In addition to constantly proclaiming Japan's superiority over everything, the guy was a total prick in that he would always laugh out loud ("Hurr hurr, what an idiot!") whenever the sensei corrected a student...and yet the guy could NEVER pronounce a single word right whenever the class was so graced as to get to hear him stutter his way through a sentence.

I always wanted to say something to him, like "Pretty high talk for someone who can barely spell his own name in katakana." Never did, though...just didn't like making waves, I guess.

Did I start something?

If this is about Shining Armor, I didn't mean anything by it. I just thought he was a nice guy because...well, we've seen he's a nice guy on the show lol.

You just made me think about the fact that nerds get seen as the "nice guys" when that's not always the case. But yeah, Shining Armor is a nice guy. I always saw him as the kind of guy who was a jock, not a nerd, but was a good guy, as opposed to a douchebag like a lot of jocks are.

There was this guy in one of my classes who would constantly rudely interrupt the teacher and correct her about things...He would be like "Actually, blah blah blah" and he would have the most cocky smirk on his face the whole time.

I think you're making this way too big of a deal. ._.

Eh, I just remembered about the annoying assholes who got on my nerves in high school, so I decided to rant about it.

Twice.

The other rant has nothing to do with this. The other rant is about my personal head canon being obnoxiously destroyed.

So we can love and tolerate haters, but not change and cannon? :P

If I've learned anything over the past couple of years, is that pretty much any group of people, be they nerds or jocks, can have assholes.

I'd be a cocky smart ass too if I was talking to somebody who laughed at other people's misfortune.

I don't laugh at other people's misfortune, what the fuck are you talking about?
