"Puzzle Master": How my own character outsmarted me until tonight, and why it's ironic
Hello, everypony! :3
(By the way, I'm typing as "Night Shine"; if my name is "Puzzle Master" as you're reading this, then just consider this post OOC.)
This might be a bit shorter than usual (is that good, or bad? xD)--I was originally going to post it in a status, but it required too much explanation.
Anywaiz.
Since last November,I have been working on a fanfiction called "The Elements of Disharmony: Necessary Corruption". I wrote out an outline for the entire story then, and it's taken me quite a while to catch up on actually writing it, but I'm almost finished.
Here's a vague and brief summary of every (relevant) thing that's happened in the story so far:
An earth pony named Puzzle Master discovers the "Elements of Disharmony" via manipulation of his brother Soul Shade (who has become a nightmare-villain named The Shadow by way of Discord's magic around the time of Return of Harmony). He then assembles a group of Equestria's past villains to wield them, and manipulates events so that the only ponies who can do anything in Equestria are the Mane 6 and the villains, so he can sit back and watch the show. The Mane 6 not only win, but reform all of the villains they face.
I will now be even more vague, because this next part hasn't been written yet.
Anywaiz. Celestia comes to confront Puzzle Master after the Mane 6 have won, and....she finds herself in a dilemma wherein she cannot beat Puzzle Master by any means. This means that Puzzle Master won both the ideals battle and the real battle of the story (What's the difference? In "The Dark Knight", the Joker won the ideals battle even though he lost the real battle). Ideals-wise, Puzzle Master prevented her from using deadly force to subdue him, or getting any other characters to do so. Pragmatically speaking, Puzzle Master prevented her from getting the Royal Guards to arrest him and put him in a prison of sorts. I won't say how Puzzle Master managed this unless you ask, because spoilers. I will say that he is ridiculously persuasive, though.
And.....after I thought of this....I got stuck. I legitimately had no idea how Celestia or any other character could beat Puzzle Master, since I'd covered all of the bases I could think of. I'm pretty sure this was in January, by the way, when I thought of this. My own character legitimately outsmarted me.
It took me until about an hour ago to figure out how to beat him (again, I won't say how unless you ask, because spoilers). Which is, of course, hilarious, because tonight just so happens to be the night that I'm roleplaying as him here on the forums.
Lulz.
That's all, folks!
