Horrific Fun Facts of the Living Dead: EVIL DEAD II: DEAD BY DAWN

Hey, I have an Ash avatar, and I'm feeling it. Let's do it, baby.

And if you haven't seen Evil Dead II, or Evil Dead I or Army of Darkness...

...do that now.

-Bruce Campbell almost did all of his own stunts, minus the scene where Ash is thrown down into the fruit cellar (stunt double) and when he is thrown through the car windshield (dummy).

-Speaking of which, that specific car (the Oldsmobile) has made a cameo in every one of director Sam Raimi's movies.

-Also, the POV shot of the evil entity crashing through the windshield after Ash was achieved by sticking the camera on the end of a pole and ramming it through the car.

The movie is frequently mistaken for a remake of the original, but it's intended to be a direct sequel that picks up the exact moment the first one ended. The filmmakers just wanted to add a recap for anyone who hadn't seen the original, but the copyright issues meant they couldn't use footage from the original, and only two actors were available. So, y'know, screw continuity.

-The sequence in which the cabin is flooded with blood from the hole in the wall was the last one shot, as it rendered the set unusable afterwards.

-The director's brother, Ted Raimi, played the part of Henrietta, the demonic hag that does battle with Ash. Unfortunately for him, the suit used for his scenes did not gel with the 100+ F temperature the movie was shot in. There's actually a few shots in the movie where you can see his sweat, mixed with makeup powder, pouring out of the character. It only got worst when a mishap left the back of the suit torn open. Without the time to fix it, they had to continue shooting, and thus, you can sometimes see Raimi's back when Henrietta flies through the air. He is wearing red underwear.

-In the original Evil Dead, Sam Raimi included a torn up poster for The Hills Have Eyes, as a little in-joke towards the film's director (and his friend), Wes Craven, saying Evil Dead was scarier. Craven responded by having the main character in Nightmare on Elm Street watch Evil Dead on TV. The response to that was for Raimi to steal one of Freddy Krueger's claws from the set of Dream Warriors and hang it in the cabin where Ash gets the chainsaw.

-Actor Dan Hicks was cast simply because he could remove one of his teeth, which made him look like an authentic redneck.

-Stephen King, a fan of the original, helped fund the sequel.

-The movie was filmed in the same area and time-frame as Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple.

-In real life, director Sam Raimi is squeamish around blood. If you've seen the movie, you know why this is hilarious.

-Bruce Campbell is one of the baddest asses ever, but you already knew that.
