Planning on trying Music Commissions - Need some opinions!

Hey everyone!

Silver Arrow here, and we all knew this day was coming, but I'm going to talk to Feld0 soon about starting commissions for music compositions!

However before I do, I need some opinions on a few things. I need to determine some prices and I'm not entirely sure what would be good. Here is the layout I have so far.

Every minute to the song is worth $5

Each Instrument is worth $3

Example: 3 minute song with strings, brass, choir, flute, and solo violin totals to $30

NOTE: Tracks are not equal to instruments. For example there may be multiple strings tracks, a bass, lead and a harmony. For example, Feld0's theme here has 3 different strings tracks with brass in the background.

NOTE: I am not limited to orchestra.

Some examples of my work (primarily short songs with only 2 or 3 instruments) can be found here:

http://mlpforums.bandcamp.com

and

http://frozenfire.bandcamp.com

NOTE: The frozenfire bandcamp page is out of date and does not contain very high quality/professional compositions.

Silver also plays the Violin and Piano live! (I have a friend with a professional recording studio.)

Live Violin and Piano prices will be determined based on complexity and/or difficulty of the song you're asking me to play. Minimal price for it will be at least $5.

I will take up to 3 commissions at a time.

So what do you all think? Too expensive? Too cheap? Other opinions?

Actually, this sounds like a fun idea, I have some questions.

If I were to ask for a song that I wish to use on a YouTube channel which may very likely receive money for views, do I get the royalties to use the music or do I need to pay more? Am I allowed to use it?

Still I'm interested and I'd bite.

If that's the case you are completely free to use your song in your video's. As the song technically belongs to you from the start I'm simply making it for you. The only catch is I would like you to include credit to me as I did make the song.

After all, in a sense it's a win win situation. You get a song and money from viewers, and I get free advertising! :P
