  1. If I'm feeling a lack of inspiration or I don't feel confident with my style, I will often write a simple short story to get the juices flowing again and then go back to the main story I was working on before. :) Writing prompts are great to give you a kick-start and help you come up with something interesting. :D e.g. pictures, quotes, an opening sentence. My inner fiction geek squeals at the thought. XD

My problem is that I work on too many stories at once and I lose my mojo for one or more of them. So I tend to focus my attention on one and wait for inspiration to come back for the others once I'm satisfied with something else. If that makes sense. XD

  2. I'd really like an episode centred on Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash, since they haven't had a full episode to themselves since Sleepless in Ponyville.

I'd also like to see Daring Do again! :D

one more thing: I'd like to see how the CMC getting used to their new marks and learning what they truly mean! Like, Sweetie Belle has a music note for example. Does that mean singing? Hopefully we'll find out. :D

  3. I honestly can't pick FIVE worst episodes since most episodes this series have been really good, although it's been a mixed bag of good and 'all right' episodes in my opinion.

My personal least favourites are 'Party Pooped' and 'What About Discord?'. 'Party Pooped' was just confusing; the storyline was all over the place and it didn't do anything worthwhile for Pinkie's character. 'What About Discord' I thought was boring, not as funny as it was supposed to be, and poorly written, although the moral was very relatable.

if I had to pick other bad episodes, I'd go for Slice of Life (simply because I'm not as obsessed with background ponies as most bronies, so it didn't interest me) and Canterlot Boutique (it was good but very forgettable).

HOLD ON I TAKE THAT BACK ABOUT SLICE OF LIFE, IT WAS ACTUALLY ONE OF MY FAVOURITES!! (sort of.)

  5. I'll be honest: the thought of the show ending forever makes me feel sick inside. I love it more than any other film or TV show in my life and it's been one of the things that's made my day a bit brighter in the past four years.

I've heard that it could end after season 6 and the movie, but it's not confirmed, so I'm reeeeally hoping that it will go on further than that; at least two more seasons (that might be a bit much to ask).

At the same time though, I've always thought that you can't drag a show or film franchise on for too long, otherwise the creators can run out of ideas and it won't end on a high note. But FiM is particularly special to me, which is why I don't want it to end yet. It does look likely that it will end soon, due to all the conclusions that have been happening in season 5 (Rarity getting a new boutique, Rainbow almost being a Wonderbolt, the CMC getting their Cutie Marks etc.), but I'm just hoping that the creators will keep it going for as long as possible since they know how huge the fandom is and it would be a shame to disappoint us.

That being said, when it ends, it should end on a high note, and therefore mustn't be dragged on forever, but I'm hoping we've at least got a few more years yet. Please!!! I can't live without my lovely ponies! :'(

  6. This episode has a funny place for me.

I've noticed a lot of this thread is just saying it's the greatest thing ever. To me, it kinda wasn't, but there's just something about the end that made me go from "meh" to "this episode is fantastic".

I'll get the negative stuff out of the way right out the gate: I think they handled Diamond Tiara's redemption poorly. It was way too rushed, and this suffers the same problem as Magical Mystery Cure; that is, it would've been better as two episodes so they would've been able to pace the resolution out rather than trying to cover up the fact that it was so obviously exposition-y with songs. So basically, the problems I had with Magical Mystery Cure apply here, and the solution would've been exactly the same. Kind of disappoints me that the MLP staff didn't learn since then.

I'm not against the idea of her being redeemed, far from it, although it makes me wonder how they're going to portray anything related to bullying and start that kind of external conflict from here. Then again, I suppose they've already tread that path already. Still, my problem with the episode is not in the idea, but rather in its execution. Heck, I don't even mind Diamond having an abusive mother; I kind of assumed there was some standard she had to live up to, anyway. One thing that does bother me about all these resolutions, though, is it seems like the show is trying to send the message that no one is truly actually nasty and they all have some sort of excuse to make them that way. While that is a nice message, it isn't a very realistic one. There are plenty of bullies who don't have bad familial situations at home, and to be honest, victims of bullying should not be taught to fix their bullies' problems. For the CMC it's fine because that's their occupation and their talent, but no one else should feel obligated to do so. Bullies should atone for their own actions. Diamond Tiara should have some reparation for what she's done, and that's why this quick resolution doesn't work right, because we don't get to see that in action, making her resolution feel empty and meaningless; it carries no weight, because just a few kind words and all the abuse she's carried out is fixed. It doesn't work that way in real life.

I understand that this can be primarily blamed on time constraints, but it having an external excuse doesn't mean that it's not still problematic.

That being said, I'm onto the positive things now. I really, REALLY like what they did with their Cutie Marks. This is far better than I expected them to be, not only because they still keep those hidden talents we thought they did, but their cutie marks also give a good excuse to keep the CMC as a group. I mean, it would've been cool if they got it separately and they had the question of "what will they do now", but I think this direction is a good one to take, too. I'm most happy about that song at the end; it feels like Celestia's Ballad, except much more upbeat, and Celestia's Ballad was definitely the highlight of Magical Mystery Cure. I love that the sisters chimed in, especially Rainbow Dash. It also shows how far Rainbow has come, since I can distinctly remember in Season 1 she wouldn't get involved in saying mushy stuff like the fact she's proud of someone, trying to maintain an image - but here, she's no longer insecure of that and is more than willing to show Scootaloo how much she cares about her and how happy she is for how much she's grown. This is not only a significant moment for the CMC, but for how far Rainbow Dash is in season 5 as opposed to when we first met her. How expressing that sentiment isn't a shameful thing in the slightest.

I think that's why the end sort of redeemed the episode for me. The Cutie Marks were a really impressive idea, that last song got me all feely, and Rainbow Dash shows in a subtle way how much she's grown (and Rarity, too, although her development is less of a surprise since in her case, she got it out of the way in Sisterhooves Social). I can see why people really like this episode. It has some good ideas, the CMC finally have their Cutie Marks, and it ends on a really high note. Do I think it's the best episode ever? Nah. Hurricane Fluttershy still remains my favorite, but this episode is definitely a good episode, if a bit rushed and hindered by its single episodic limit.

EDIT: oh wow why did I forget to mention this. The reference to the fact that their (that is, Apple Bloom's, Applejack's, and Big Mac's) parents are indeed dead. Holy shit, way to go, MLP staff. That was probably the most tactful way you could put that reference in - the adults will get it and know what you're hinting at, while the children may not entirely get it but the line won't bother them or make them feel distressed in any way.

Pretty much my feelings about the episode in a nutshell! :) I too think that it was like Magical Mystery Cure in places and sometimes rushed, but you're right: the ending was so emotional, compared to the initial story which was a bit boring. And yeah, the Cutie Marks are great! It's not what I expected them to get, but I've thought about it since and it makes TOTAL sense. :D

  7. Wow. I can't believe it finally happened. So much time spent waiting for that moment, and we got it!!

Must say, I was NOT expecting the three of them to get the SAME cutie marks, since it seemed like the writers were building up to them all getting different talents, like scootering for Scootaloo, singing for Sweetie Belle, and something else for Apple Bloom. But now that I've thought about it, the fact they all have the same talent makes total sense. Crusading is their talent, their passion, and what they've been doing for the past 5 seasons.

So the fact that they got their talents together, (by helping Diamond Tiara of all ponies) is actually something really beautiful. :')

I was sure I would cry when the time finally came when they got their Cutie Marks, but I didn't. I just went a bit crazy with excitement. xD

It was interesting to make most of the episode a musical, and it seems to be a bit of theme that the episode is a musical when something important happens, like in Magical Mystery Cure, when Twilight became a princess. I'm not a huge fan of full musicals myself, especially when they cram it all into a 20 minute episode, but it was done really well with this episode!

So all in all: wow! So pleased for the CMC! I had a feeling from the title that it might be the moment where it happened, but wasn't sure until it actually did towards the end! (I remember thinking "there's four minutes of the episodes left... what's going to happen? Oh wait... could it be?!" And I was right! XD)

The end of an era, everypony. :') Makes me kind of sad.

  8. When I saw this thread I got so excited because I absolutely ADORE Jacksepticeye!! <333

I've been subscribed to him for about 8 months I think, so he probably would have been at like 1-3 million subscribers. I don't really know, I can't remember! XD

He is definitely my FAVOURITE Youtuber out of all the Youtubers I've watched. Why? Well, I like not only how genuinely hilarious he is, and how entertaining his gameplays are, but the fact that he is such a SWEET and HUMBLE person. Qualities like that make a person appealing, and is why Jack is so charismatic to me.

His videos are my favourites on Youtube; I look forward to every single one he uploads, and I'm really glad I found him. :D (where the hell would I be if I didn't?!)

My favourites series by him is probably the Evie Cleverbot series, because A, I discovered him through an Evie video and is what made me love him, and B, every single one of them makes me die with laughter from Jack's reactions and angry commentary. xD

I also like the Shadow of the Colossus series, as well as FnaF, Subnautica, Reading Your Comments, and if I had to pick another, the Happy Wheels vids. :D

GIVE ME YOUR HIGH-FIVES, BOSSES. *waa-psh*

Also, I reaaaaaaaaaally hope I get to meet Jack one day! *fingers crossed*

  9. This episode was great! Not amazing, but great! The story was a little flimsy in places, but it was very entertaining and heart-warming.

The yaks were the most annoying thing about it haha, but everything else was fab. :D

  10. Afternoon, ponies. :)

Obviously the season 5 premiere is airing tomorrow and I'm soooo looking forward to it (:D) but sadly I'll be busy during the day since I'm working from 9 till about 3 (I live in the UK by the way so I'd be viewing it at about 3 in the afternoon usually) and I'm seeing my cousin afterwards, so I probably won't be able to watch it live. Do you guys reckon it'll be uploaded to Youtube not long after it airs? Or is there ANYWHERE else I could view it?

Also, if I AM able to get home early to watch it live, BronyState I'm guessing would be a good place to watch it?

    Thanks for any help. :)

  11. Soarin doesn't strike me as an old pony at all, but I have often wondered about the bags under his eyes. Like people have said, I think it's to do with the stress of his job as a Wonderbolt, but I'm not sure.

If he was old, that would DESTROY  my love of SoarinDash, and I am NOT going to let that happen! XD

I'm pretty sure he's young, because his voice sounds young.

  12. I have huge respect for spiders even though I can be quite scared of the bigger ones. I hate it when people decide to step on them because that's just cruel and ignorant; they've done nothing to you! Leave them alone, for f*ck's sake!

Sorry for the language, haha, but yeah I do like spiders, more than a lot of other creepy crawlies. Whenever I see tiny ones, I like to pick them up and put them somewhere safe. If I see a large one, I will probably run from the room and get someone to move it haha, but I would never EVER harm one because they don't deserve it.

  13. I'm sorry but... I don't care what anyone says about this: Rainbow Dash. Is BEAUTIFUL.

So what if she's a tomboy? I think she's gorgeous! I can't take my eyes off that lovely rainbow mane and those cute magenta eyes. :3 <3333

Rainbow Dash.  Vibrant rainbow-colored mane and matching tail; both pleasingly wild and spiky.  Soothing blue of her coat that evokes an untroubled sky on a lovely day.  Similarly blue feathered wings that are birdlike or angelical in nature.  Ripe cherries in her eyes with cute little lashes poking out from their corners.  She is the sky - and a prismatic, meteoric bullet across it.  She is color.

I SECOND THAT AMAZING RESPONSE. ;D
