  1. I don't have anything other than an Ipod that is an Apple Product. I see no appeal to the Iphone anymore because the competators are very similar in what they offer, most often at a fraction of the price. I like how Steve Jobs was against a stylus, and now they came out with a stylus....

  2. Today is my first day of college (for the 3rd time now). I am now taking Precision Manufacturing Technology (machining). I am a metalworker, familiar with welding and blacksmithing. Outside of basic linux skills (Ubuntu) and Windows XP/7 (for some reason i can do anything on those), I am not a tech oriented person. No Iphone/andriod, tablet or even TV (let alone internet at home). I am starting to fiddle with drones (have a Hubsan x4) but otherwise nothing really notable in terms of modern technology understanding.

I have to learn Solidworks, and before this class starts, I am not only overwhelmed but also daunted by the simple fact that this is completely new territory for me. I have a year to learn it, but as of right now, it's a little step by step process to acclimate to it. So...with all that said, does anyone use and/or is familiar with Solidworks or other CAD programs? How can a tech noob like me understand it? any advice?

I am sure as I learn this topic with become more of a questionaire topic, at least as I gain understanding of it. Also, post creations, tips, and tricks to it and other CAD programs.

  3. It takes 4 people to hold me down at the doctor's.....yet I have 6 tattoos....I am not sure why i'm so scared of needles. I actually think it's because of how deep the needles go. Drawing blood is the worst, but tattoo artists don't go to the veins. Getting a vaccine isn't bad, although I end up with a very sore and weak arm after a shot.

  4. After watching episode 100 with hundreds of other fans at MLP-MSP, topped off with the panel of sociology by Casey Wesluck (VA of Spike, I actually decided that after himming and hawwing over this kindof topic for a year, that I would get an MLP tattoo. It's been 4 years, and very important things happened because of pony and through pony. MLP is now a part of me as well as my life.

Applejack is my favorite pony. She's takes up a large part of my lower left leg (on the outside). She's over 6" tall. Went with a more unique shading by the artist because she actually looks more 3D and a bit more mature/hardcore thank the standard pastel, or simple black and white. My artist did an amazing job. Very proud of it.

  5. Thought I'd share this, but this is my new tattoo. She's about 6" tall, located on the outer side of my lower left leg. Got her a few months ago and is now fully healed and beautiful!

  6. Having been into the Pokemon game since the first US Release (I got Red), I think remake of Yellow with the added aspects of Crystal (being able to travel to one if not two other regions) on top of having the other pokemon from other gens and/or have a continuation story that includes world building like in Alpha/Omega be available would make for an amazing homage the anime inspired Yellow and its influence on the Pokemon franchise as a whole

  7. I love Gravity Falls and Steven's Universe for the adventure in them. However, I just don't feel as connected to those characters as I do with MLP. I think a lot of it comes from the immaturity the shows have. Gravity Falls has the Pine Twins be children, with adult-ish thoughts (Dipper mostly), and Steven is just a child...not a very smart one at that....They fall in line with the CMC from MLP....growing up and learning how the world works and where they may/may not fit in the world. Being an adult, I am beyond that aspect, and the CMC is more focused on self discovery more than the other two shows (Steven comes close many times, and builds upon his experiences, but I'm just not as invested in him as a character because I don't like his idiocy {he's a mixed bag in my opinion}, whereas the CMC have moments of growth and regression in their overall character, but not sustained idiocy). The Mane 6, in comparison, actually goes through things that we as kids AND adults have to deal with. Gravity Falls doesn't do much to grow the characters, and the characters are too focused on the plot to bother with anything deeper than peer pressure (except Dipper and Stan for a short blip, which was sweet and heartwarming).

GF is all about the plot (with characters just "existing")

SU is all about the characters (with plot added in to keep things rolling)

MLP has a good balance of both plot and character (due to the actual slice of life nature of the show balanced with action stories at the bookends of the seasons)

The other two shows miss out on this balance. SU can be considered slice of life, but the focus is on a character that is a complete child, a deadbeat but interesting father, and aliens that interact little with the people they live near. It's all about Steven for the most part. It's hard for me to call it "slice of life" when Steven's life is drastically different from every other character in the show. Gravity Falls I cannot consider slice of life because the whole premise revolves around a strange town with strange happenings that is beyond any norm Dipper and Mabel know of prior to them arriving at Gravity Falls.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Steven Universe and really like Gravity Falls. However, as an example of the significance these three shows have in my life; I got a MLP tattoo recently because of how much impact that show has had on my life these past 5 years....I really doubt I would desire a Steven Universe or GF tattoo, ever. They are great shows, and I am actually getting back in to my rock hound research due to the Gems. The characters in SU are so deep and dynamic (Pearl is my favourite because of how I sympathise with her). My blurp above is not to "bash" the shows, they are all great, and the nitpicks I point out are generalized and fairly barren in explanation compared to the plethora of things that make the shows great.

  8. My hair is over 3 feet long, I am not sure Talc will be easy to get out of hair that long. I do plan on baby wipes, and also am working on going the no-poo route for my hair (no shampoo, just apple cider and vinegar...been working wonders and don't have to wash as often). I am not too worried about sweat during the con days...its just the concerts. I really enjoy them :D

  9. As of now, I am currently not labelled as a Subscriber on MLP forums. However, I keep getting emails that have said that I am still a Helper and am automatically donating monthly. The bank I have has recently changed hands, and actually as of right now are of little help in this because of my current limited internet access and the fact the workers locally still are figuring things out. Am I still donating? Do you have records of it?

  10. So, because my job has really been tearing me down (mentally), I decided on a whim that I am going to not only go to MLP-MSP, but also Midwest Bronyfest. However, being a brony without IRL brony friends, and a husband who is a big closet brony (and thus one con was enough for him), I am deciding to truck it alone. However, hotels are extremely expensive when all by myself, and I not only feel awkward, but also very unsure of the idea of rooming with strangers for everyone to get a discount on overall cost (maybe after the first day if I make friends, but that's just not practical). On top of that, the hotels that are available for Midwest Bronyfest are expensive! I am just not a hotel-y kind of person anyways....I would rather camp out.

Camping would be a good thing considering all campgrounds open Memorial Day weekend (Midwest Bronyfest is that weekend and MLP-MSP is in June). But I also know, EVERYONE and their brothers are going to take the family out for the first summer camping trip and I really don't want to compete with late night shenanigans of screaming kids and yapping dogs in an overflowing campgroundbaconmane.png . Plus, in places like Kansas City and Minneaoplis, campgrounds are not found in the cities, and those that are I believe are strange (isn't the point to camp out in nature...you know, away from city life? post-25189-0-94520100-1406062734.png ) not to mention expensive and usually RV only (I'm a tenter). So if I want to camp out, I'd have to travel out of the city, and after the night concerts that may go into the early morning hours, I know I wouldn't to drive to a campground, sleep for a few hours, and then go right back....leaving all my camping stuff completely unattended on top of that.

So I thought of combining the two problems into one solution. Camping in my pickup! I have a topper for our bigger pickup and since it's just me, it won't be too difficult. I actually plan to do this for my trip up to Fargo for my steam engine stuff (I will also be alone on that trip since it will be a week long).

I am used to camping, so sleeping arrangements and stuff will not be too difficult. Parking laws, and vagrancy laws can be researched. The biggest thing I worry about is getting a shower. I could ask someone to use their shower at a con, but that would be awkward and I am not counting on it. I know I could use truck stop showers, but so far, my research has turned up potential truck stops as being nearly an hour away from the cons! So....has anyone ever done this?  What are your thoughts on this idea? huh.png

  11. Mine doesn't have a good past because it's a reflection of my own past. Seriously, if I was to write a story about my life, it'd be considered a tragic one (at least now, it is a happy life). I've had a few people calling me out as a liar, and it's sickening how desensitized and heartless people can be...Although I also hate the other end of the spectrum too, because I hate pity.

  12. Once I start work, I won't be at home much. I will be packing a simple lunch using a Japanese bento i bought last year (It's amazing). 1 egg, a cup of stir fried rice (has vegis) and a cup of fruit.

With 2 eggs for breakfast, and a homecooked supper, I'll be cruising in healthy eating (and limited on calories too)

I just hope my body is up for work (it's not in the best of health joint wise)

  13. I vote for subconscious link, but having someone chasing down people with a tattoo gun works too. o_O

Also, color doesn't mean not human. Bluffington wasn't populated by aliens.

There are blue people in the Appalacians (they have Methemoglobinemia). There is also blue and purple skin in people with Cyanosis

There are people with jaundice (yellow and orange skin) and there is also green skin (Hypochromic anemia)...

Now mind you, I hope no one here has this problem...but this does explain why there are no doctors in EQ
