  1. I think this is Gonzaga's year to break through and have a great run. This is their best team in school history. I know we keep saying that every year, but it's true. They have scorers all over the floor, they have enough size to go toe-to-toe with Kentucky, and they defend well, unlike a lot of previous Gonzaga teams.

The same is not true for Notre Dame. They have a great offense, and their shooters make them a threat to beat any team. (They shoot 51% from the floor as a team, which is just... insane.) But they don't defend. Their defense ranks 112th in the nation in efficiency, per Ken Pomeroy's rankings, which is easily the worst defense of all of the highly seeded teams. I have them winning two games before getting knocked out by Wichita State in the Sweet 16.

  2. I'm a Wisconsin fan, so I've had plenty to cheer about both last year and this year. I've felt good about my team all year, but they got a really tough draw in the West region. (Advanced analytics have confirmed: the West is the toughest region in this year's tournament.)

I'm VERY worried about the likelihood of running into Arizona in the Elite Eight again, and North Carolina and Oregon (our likely matchups before that) will be no slouches either.

Kentucky, by comparison, got a very favorable draw (as if they needed it...) and is likely to romp pretty decisively to the Final Four.

  3. Bats was AJ/Fluttershy. I actually want to see an Applejack/Twilight episode.

I view Bats as more of a "Fluttershy vs. the World" episode. XD

And yeah, AJ/Twi would be fun.

  4. I'll second the post above. All of the Mane Six are good friends with one another, it's just that we often see them in their worst moments as they're dealing with the Problem of the Week.

I'm definitely in favor of the show exploring some of the lesser-seen relationships within the Mane Six. I get that Fluttershy-Rainbow Dash and Rarity-AJ are interesting because the characters are such polar opposites, but we've seen so much of it that I'm up for something different. Maybe an AJ-Fluttershy episode, or the aforementioned Pinkie-Rarity episode. We haven't seen much of that, and it could be a lot of fun.

  5. Random thought

Does anyone else think Of Rarity & Prince Blueblood when they Hear Trouble by Taylor Swift?

I probably will now that you've mentioned it.

  6. So... after joining the Rarity fandom and posting for a little while, I kind of disappeared from these forums. For a long time. For so long, I wouldn't be surprised if all of the regulars have forgotten I was ever here. If anyone wonders why, well, short story: work. Long story: more work.

But with season 5 right around the corner, it's time I returned. Last season Rarity shot up my favorite characters list at light speed, and I look forward to seeing what's in store for her this spring.  :D

  7. Hello from Bronycon, fan club!

Posting here to make note of one random thing. During a chat with a fellow brony about a certain episode (that shall remain nameless), he stated his opinion, and followed said statement up with, "but don't tell Ghostie I said that".

Ghostie, good sir, it appears your reputation precedes you.  :yay:

  8. They have researched Star Wars fans and in general nerd culture. In fact there was a comparative study between the average Star Wars fan and Star Trek fan. Oddly enough there were distinct lines of demarcation with some of the personality types. Anyhow ....

The Brony fandom deserves study for these reasons ... printing press ... Marconi ... Bell ... Cronkite  ... Comcast ... Social Media

Give me one fandom that exploded in the public consciousness with the use of new media being coopted by the consumers themselves. Bronies aren't a way of life or a cause ... but we are a harbinger of group celebration in the foreseeable future.

Human civilization is being changed but the way information and entertainment is being shared. This is part of that.

    Edit

Did it. 10/10 would discuss again. Seriously, they need more respondents.

They are and they are looking to have around 100 respondents by end of year. I can't say anything about the interview itself as that would be what is called 'respondent invalidation', but it was an amazing experience for me.

What these guys said. The desire to study a particular group doesn't necessarily rise from the idea that that group is "abnormal". (Incidentally, in this particular case that couldn't be further from the researchers' mindset/approach. I won't say anything specific because I participated, but... just take my word for it.) Even the most seemingly trivial of things can actually be important in a way.

Heck, it's entirely possible that the conclusion (and thus the point) of the research might end up being that bronies are by and large NOT in any way "abnormal". And you know what? Call me crazy, but from where I'm sitting, having large studies come out saying those sorts of things seems like it might do us some good.

In conclusion, I'm with Jeric. Give these folks more responses.

  9. While I do think she might, I think she would be more of an RTS player... People who can micromanage well usually have a knack for those kinds of games, & as we have seen while she works on her clothes she would probably be amazing at micromanaging all the little things going on during Starcraft or the like

This is awesome... now I'm imagining Rarity leading a Zerg rush. XD

Except she wouldn't do that, because she'd be more likely to look down on players who employed strategies like that. No, she'd definitely be a Protoss player, and probably a pretty darn pesky one at that.

Still need to play that one. I can really see Rarity loving Chrono Trigger :D Dunno how she'd feel about Earthbound.

I'm being totally unbiased when I say this because Chrono Trigger is totally not my favorite game of all time

Chrono Trigger is awesome. That is all.

  10. I feel the same way about Boast Busters, Spike at your Service and, heck, that episode.

Sonic Rainboom :eww: Mine and my waifu's reaction to that episode:

My goodness, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in this particular room who really liked Sonic Rainboom.

Should I not say that too loudly?

  12. For everyone worrying about the writers possibly deciding to give Rarity the short end of the stick in season 5...

Don't. There was never supposed to be a "season 3" the way everyone here refers to it. Spike At Your Service was supposed to be the Rarity episode (or rather, the Sparity episode), but they shifted it to AJ mid-stream because reasons.

And honestly? The way most people talk about that episode, maybe that was for the best.

Take 26 episodes, subtract 2 for the premiere and 2 for the finale and figure on two more "group" episodes, and we're left with 20 to spread around. Rarity will be the central focus of at LEAST two of those episodes. Maybe three. Book it.  :D

  13. Since everyone has been weighing on on Flutters' rainbow-ified look...

...I like it. Not as much as the original Flutters, of course, but it isn't a horrible look for her. I certainly think she came out of that transformation looking a lot better than most of the other Mane Six. Some of them... I just don't even.

  14. We live to serve Her. To honor Her. To please Her. We are at Her side, and there we shall stay. By this oath, we are bound to honor and beauty just as our hearts are. All who make this pledge are granted with this burden and blessing as we strive for enlightenment through fabulosity.

I feel like a Protoss warrior now, ready to face the rampaging hordes of the un-fabulous. Aw, yeah.  B)

  15. I reckon she would be pretty strict on herself in those things, her body is a temple.

Even those who view themselves that way have been known to turn that temple into an amusement park on occasion.  :umad:
