  1. I think I have most douchey picture out of everyone here!

This was from a few months back, I think in January, and this was the morning after a party.

And yes, our party went through almost all of that alcohol. (And two 30 racks of Bud Light)

Do I win the douchey photo award??  :D

  2. Doesn't seem to be stopping every girl I've met in my life

Most girls tend to like assertive, confident, in charge kinds of guys, and anxiety can be a turn off. You just haven't met one who doesn't yet, you'll be fine once you do.  :)

  3. I had my first kiss when I was around 12, I think. I don't remember the details. Nothing remarkable or special feeling, that much I remember.

Although my first "kiss" was in kindergarten when we were playing spin the bottle at my friend's house, but I don't count that.

    • Homestuck/Homestruck (I don't know which it is) is stupid.

Tumblr is full of nutty "social warriors" and strawmen.

I'm not very comfortable with the thought of all these new "genders" besides just male, female, and the catch all term "other"

The Friendzone doesn't exist, and "nice" guys need to stop whining about it when they are politely turned down by girls.

There is such a thing as a useless college degree. (As in, people really need to stop going to small liberal arts colleges, majoring in English or Asian Cultural Studies or Gender studies or some other useless major, and then acting surprised when they either are unemployed or in a low pay job upon graduation)

  4. I haven't been bullied in years, since middle school actually, when all of us bullied each other in one way or another. It didn't really get to me, it was actually probably good for me, and toughened me up. Bullying can be bad and unpleasant, but its inevitable. Where there are differences there are conflicts. The best thing to do is minimize whatever you're being bullied for. Like, if you're bullied for MLP, maybe bringing that MLP backpack to school is a bad call. Obviously there are somethings that can't be changed, like body type or orientation, and people who bully for that are the worst.

In a nutshell, bullying isn't going to stop. Kids will be kids. Once everyone matures out of that phase though, its all good.

  5. I freaking hate winter... I can't have light hair or dark skin in the summer!!!! Seriously, I went from this last September...

To this now in March! Pale skin and dark hair aren't a good look for me...

Although I suppose it doesn't help that I'm sick right now...

  6. Now that I'm nearing graduation, all I can say is, dang, I'm going to miss high school so much! I had a lot of fun, made a ton of great friends, and good times were had by all. Almost every amazing memory I have is from the last two years of high school. (Underclassmen don't have much fun because they don't have cars and its harder to get out and have shenanigans, and I was no exception to that rule. But my Freshman and Sophomore years weren't bad, they just weren't incredible.)

  7. I'm in the exact same position as you. Had Monsters Inc as a child, loved it. Then as I'm about to go to college they release... I don't even know how to describe this.

I thought the plot just resembled Revenge of The Nerds. I didn't enjoy it at all and it was such a let down after the amount of hype it got. The whole competition just seemed like a way to shove Goblet of Fire or Hunger Games themes in the film.

I felt it was playing homage to Revenge of the Nerds, and I liked the fact that Mike didn't win, and that the message was that sometimes, no matter how hard you "want" something, its not always possible, and you have to be flexible and ready to change your path if you must. Its a much more real and useful moral to teach kids than "follow your heart/dreams".

Plus, I absolutely loved Revenge of the Nerds, so seeing the fraternity rivalries with Sully and Mike was even better! And I would totally want to join Roar Omega Roar if I was at MU! XD

  8.

    It was almost as dissapointing...

    Monsters_University_poster_3.jpg

    ... As this.

Whoa there man, let's back off of Monster's University a bit. Now, maybe its just I always loved Monster's Inc as a kid, and now I'm about to go off to college myself, so that's why I love MU, but what are your reasons for disliking it? It was smartly written, lighthearted, beautifully animated, and just a nice movie experience. Not Pixar at its best, but it sure was better than Cars 2.

  9. Claim discrimination, then threaten to sue. Works every-time .

It's happened to me at Hastings a few times.

That would only work if he was discriminated against for race, religion, or sexuality. You can't discriminate against a fan of a show, and it is probably technically within his right to refuse service. I wouldn't make a big deal of it if it was me. Then again, I shudder just at the thought of buying an MLP magazine or, well, anything MLP, let alone at a public store, but that's just me.

  10. I don't want to offend anyone, but it seems to me that most bronies are very lazy.  It seems like smart, successful, hard-working bronies are few and far in between.  Most seem like living-in-mother's-basement or video gamer types of people.  I would love to be proven wrong, but it seems like all bronies that I've seen IRL are losers.  Is this true, or is it just that the better bronies hide the fact that they are bronies?

First of all, I just wanted to point out that I love that the poll is forming a practically perfect normal model right now. Anyways, on topic, don't you think that's a little unfair? I mean, I certainly don't think I'm a loser in real life. I mean, I'm a lifeguard, soccer captain, Senior Class President, a lifeguard, and I am going to be attending an excellent college, I haven't yet decided where I am going to go, although I have already been accepted to the Naval Academy, Tulane, UCLA, USC, and UC Santa Barbara. I think I'm the exact opposite of a loser dude!

Although I do understand, a lot of bronies do seem to be pretty lazy and kind of nonstarters. But again, that's not all of them.

  11. Yay! Geopolitics was so boring, now we could have a war!!!!! *squee*

Just kidding!! But seriously, this, plus Russia's ongoing "police action" in Georgia are very reminiscent of Hitler's rise to power and the road to World War II. Now, Putin is not nearly as crazy at Hitler, he's smart. He won't do anything too rash or drastic, but the possibility of a contain conflict within Ukraine, with Separatists from Crimea fighting the Ukrainian government as a proxy for Russia could happen.

Not to mention technically the USA and UK are bound by treaty to defend Ukraine from Russian invasion, so this could get dicey if it escalates any further.

  12. So now your insulting the fandom in whole?

Mostly everyone on this fandom acts "nice"

If we weren't "nice" bronies would be no more than the trolls crawling on 4chan

I think Enchantress means that there are nice guys and "nice guys". Nice guys are just genuinely good dudes. "Nice Guys" are afraid to tell a girl their feelings, so they deceive them, pretend to be their friend, and then out of the blue ask them out. When they are told that they should stay friends, they throw it back in the girls face and whine they were "friendzoned", which isn't a very nice thing to do at all to a girl who just said she wants to keep being thier friend, despite thier deception.

    • Brohoof 3
  13. You can determine that just by looking at them? >_>

I never said you can tell anything about them. All they do is fit the visual stereotypes to a tee. (Fedoras, odd facial hair, awkward body language, strange clothing) Now, for all we know these guys are super chill bros who are all on the lax team or the coolest guys at their schools.... but come on dude, we know they aren't. Is it a fair judgement? No, but their physical appearance is all the detractors of the fandom need to lump us all into one big negative category. And this is why I never mention liking this show to anyone.

    http://www.buzzfeed.com/awesomer/20-reasons-you-shouldnt-date-men-who-wear-fedoras

Use this as a reference if you don't believe me. The guys in that list might be super cool, awesome guys... but first impressions and physical appearances count for a lot in our society.

  14.

    img-2360467-2-96028__safe_human_meta_bro

What the heck is up with the second image?? Libertarians are NOT the same as Republicans! Libertarians are socially liberal, and thus in favor of gender, racial, and sexuality equality!

That image aside, have you seen the pictures of Bronies who go to cons and meetups? They're cringeworthy, and fit the stereotypes to a tee. Plus, Bronies have whined on social media before of being "Nice guys" who always get "friendzoned", so they fit that stereotype too.

    Brony_meetup.jpg

    highres_161490912.jpeg

And BAM! There's ample cannon fodder for guys to laugh at Bronies and lump them in with neckbeard fedora types who whine about being friendzoned. Its not fair, nice, or representative, but its understandable of how it happens.

  15. Which is the point I've been trying make this whole time. Everyone has their own opinions and like or dislikes and shouldn't judged based on that fact. I like looking good as much as the next person but see no reason to dress up outside of situations where cleaning up my appearance is necessary such as funerals, interviews, or special occasions of some kind. My idea of looking nice may also be different from yours because I like something more akin to causal suit than the preppy look.

I think we've been pretty much saying the same thing. All I was trying to argue is that although I personally think fedoras are a tasteless fashion choice, I don't mind them. I was more concerned that wearing them torpedoes the wearer's public image and such, and this can limit their options and opportunities to expand their social circles, further their career, and so on. I thought it seemed silly to stubbornly refuse to stop wearing a hat that is a stereotypical mark of a social pariah. But hey,

Yeah, well, that's just like, my opinion man.

  16. Now do you both see my point about judging based on appearance? I offended both of you my using my own prior-knowledge to make a quick and harsh judgement. The way you two have been talking comes off the same way to me or anyone else that doesn't like the style of dress you view as proper. Just as you view extremely casual dress as dorky, or awkard, I tend to view extremely preppy dress as the same way(with the added stereotype of being a smug blue-blood type).

I grew up in a very blue-collar family with a mom who worked cleaning crew various places most of her life and a father that was ex-military and worked herding lifestock, as well as a step-dad that was a retired farmer later on. I've also done plenty of dirty odd-jobs in yard work of hauling trash to make extra pocket money. That colors my perception to view anyone that dresses for looks rather that comfort or practicality harshly. The closest I'd ever get to a suit would be a dress shirt, suit pants, and a well polished set of work boots(or maybe my black and white Converses I picked up cheap if it's to hot for the boots or I want to go nicer)

Hey, to each their own. People work hard in different ways. My father also worked extremely hard, traveling day and night around the globe to negotiate deals for his company. He could easily have to visit 3 different countries in an afternoon and attend 3 different meetings. He would get no sleep because he'd have to prepare for the next meeting on the flight. It was very hard and draining work. There's different kinds of hard work. Hard work isn't always involving dirt or livestock. Although I have worked as a dishwasher before, (with only a dish sanitizer that removed no food from the plates, meaning I had to handwash thousands of plates, bowls, cups, and pieces of silverware a day) so I do understand what you're talking about to a certain degree.

  17. I know what your hair looks like so I know it's not that bad, but that's just what I imagine. You can also now take pride in knowing that you use more hair product than I do. ;) Congratulations.

    ....dammit Maggie......  :P

Oh well, maybe that's more indicative of your hair just being that easy to take care of! In my defense, once I've been lifeguarding in saltwater for around a week, I can stop putting any product in my hair, since the salt naturally holds it up. So for a quarter of every year I have nothing in my hair, if that counts for anything at all.

...Lol it probably doesn't, considering I just had to explain my entire hair care routine..

To me what you say that I picture some obnoxious stereotypical upper-middle class Yale graduate that could get his hands dirty or do any real work if his life depended on it. That's my perception though, just as you have yours. I tend to dress more formal-casual when I have to dress up.

I also look like hell clean shaven because it makes me look dorky.

Well, to be fair, that kind of is me.  (Not the Yale part, although I did apply there. I just haven't heard back from all my colleges, so I don't know where I'm going yet) My dad was a businessman and I want to be a businessman, so I guess its just my perception.

Although I do take a bit of offense that you think people who dress like that can't get their hands dirty or do real work. See, you're assuming just like I was!  :P

  18. Yeah, I look like I should be driving a semi or helping transport moonshine half the time.

Not really. I'm not interested in business like that and I rather form relationships based on personality. I'm the kind that rather have one or two real friends than a dozen fake ones that like me based on something I pretend to be. I'm also more than capable of dressing nice when I need to make a good impression(dark suit pants, polished up boots, white dress shirt, same cross, my leather jacket, hair pulled back, beard groomed up well and the places on my face I don't want hair shaved well)

Hey, to each their own. I just think it does more harm than good. Also, aren't boots and a leather jacket not considered formal wear? I always considered formal wear (at minimum) khakis, button up shirt, tie, nice preppy sweater, and dress shoes.

I would be a fool to claim that Indiana Jones doesn't look fantastic in a fedora. However you'll notice all the examples I gave were real people. If Indiana Jones was real and walked around in a fedora before he did any of that badass Indiana Jones stuff he probably wouldn't have been taken very seriously.

I don't see what the point is in arguing "that's a Trilby not a Fedora". Neither one looks good when it isn't worn correctly.

    Zak-zak-bagans-25092509-500-449.jpg

When guys say they use hair gel I imagine Zak Bagans

Lol not that kind of gel Maggie! XD I use a lifeguard recipe! Water, lemon juice, and salt all in a spray bottle. Works like a charm and doesn't feel like there's any gel in your hair. Unlike Zak, who goes through a Johnny Bravo sized tub of gel a week!
