    Hey everyone!

As most of you guys know, I've been working on a new version of Pony.fm. This new version is the launching point for the next era of features that will be implemented.

This project is a rewrite of the existing platform. The main reason this had to be done was to support the most asked for feature - the ability to play music while browsing the website. I'm happy to say that Pony.fm now behaves more like an application rather than just a website; and this embodies the direction that I wanted to take this project after coming on board in addition to the existing vision that Feld had. We now have the best of both worlds, and are getting very close to competing directly with the likes of Bandcamp, Google Music and Soundcloud as the premier brony music repository.

Of course the features that were available on the last BETA of PFM are still present - with the exception of notifications. We understand how important this feature is; but we would like to integrate it into Poniverse itself instead of having notifications be isolated to just Pony.fm. As a result, this feature is on temporary hold.

In addition; there will be bugs. Since we lack the QA resources that larger shops have access to - and this codebase is less tested than the previous one - we expect some bumps along the way. We understand this, and will do our best to address issues as quickly as possible. If you run into something, please-please-please post in the appropriate forum located here: http://mlpforums.com/forum/62-ponyfm/

Anyway, there isn't much more to say here. At this point I'd again like to thank Feld for bringing me on the project, and the wonderful support we have from the community. We're building this for you guys - and we sincerely hope you enjoy it!

    Thanks!
    Nelson

    Good morning/afternoon/evening!

I'm just writing this to make people aware of a couple of new features that have been implemented since the last blog post.

    How Far We've Come:

The two major new features are: comment replies and custom avatars.

Now, when you reply to a comment (via the "reply" link), the user who posted that comment will get notified of the reply. In addition, you can click on referenced comments to see them inline without having to scroll. Cool, huh?

In addition - comments are no longer straight-up HTML. We are now using a text pre-processor called markdown. You can read more about it here: http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax

Second: you can now upload custom avatars! Since this feature was requested so heavily, we went ahead and give you guys the option of using a Gravatar or a custom-uploaded avatar! Head on over to your Avatar Settings (found under the same dropdown as the Account Settings) and you can choose how you would like your avatar to be displayed.

Other than those two: minor design tweaks, bug-fixes and improvements have been made recently. Some are as simple as the revamped "News" sidebar that will highlight unread blog posts, while others include a new profile layout and fixed iOS support. So be sure to play around with the site, and I hope that you will find the overall experience starting to take form.

    Stick Around:

There are a lot of other features in the works. Keep an eye out for track/album collaborations, track versioning, additional taxonomy, design tweaks and bug fixes. When the next major feature is implemented, we will sum it up in another blog post - so remember to check the "Latest News" sidebar. Hopefully the minor design tweaks will make it easier for people to notice these status updates.

    Wanted (In Equestria):

We still have an active, publicly-facing, forum on this site where people who wish to submit bug reports and feature requests should go to. If you have an idea or bug report, head on over to: http://mlpforums.com/forum/62-ponyfm/

    Becoming Popular:

Seriously, guys. As some of you know, there are major UX improvements in the pipeline. But as it stands, pony.fm is a viable product - and it would be great to use the time while it is in BETA to get some features rolled out and evaulated. If there is something preventing you from using it (either as a music consumer, producer, or both), then feedback would be wonderful.

So... yeah! Stuff and things. I hope everyone enjoys the improvements that have been implemented in the last few weeks

    Thanks!
    Nelson
