In this rant, I will be refuting MatPat’s points with evidence from the first trilogy (Ace Attorney. This does include Rise from the Ashes.)

I’m also going to express my concern about the channel’s current direction and, if you’re interested in YouTubers that go more in-depth with the Ace Attorney series, recommend YouTube channels that focuses on analyses and discussions on Ace Attorney at the end.

I'm going to keep this rant as clean as possible and read the writing right off the wall; Game Theory has declined to fan wanking and click-baiting garbage.

I really don't know when this channel went down hill. Some say it's the "Link is Dead" theory, others say it's the seemingly endless saturation of FNAF videos where Pat gives the only sensible (and I use this and the following word loosely) plot to a thus far $20 total collection of games where the real horror comes from searching for fan art on deviantART.

What I DO know is that Game Theory used to be based on actual evidence. If you watch some of the earlier videos of the series, you can tell that MatPat has put a lot more time and effort into each episode back then.

But now Game Theory (and by-product, Film Theory) has reduced to MP coming to inaccurate or downright wrong conclusions that borderlines over to WMG territory. The theory about Sans being Ness can literally be boiled down to MatPat wanting to cross his favorite game over with a indie game heavily based on it. I'm not even gonna touch the Pope bullshit.

I’m genuinely growing concerned about the channel’s future. I don’t doubt that MatPat’s success will dwindle, but I am seeing a change in the quality of his content and it’s...kinda cringeworthy, if you ask me.

For the sake of simplicity I'll first bring up a point that happens early in Turnabout Sisters, the case where MatPat builds most of his arguments off of. I'll also bring up the Evidence Book you obtain in Rise from the Ashes.

Matpat’s first claim that Phoenix is somehow a criminal is the bottle that Nick and Maya found in the defendant’s room during the second Investigation Phase in Turnabout Samurai. As this leads up to his Discovery Law point, I will bring this up later.

His next claim is when Phoenix called for the Bellboy, a witness Edgeworth has no control over, to testify. This is where he brings up the Discovery Law. He describe this as, “a legal privilege that both sides, defense and prosecution have, so that they can do research on relevant details before the trial begins to avoid surprises that can negatively impact their case.”

“This [referring to the bottle from Turnabout Samurai] gives Edgeworth zero time to think about the evidence and how it affects his case before he’s expected to respond.”

Not only are we applying something from the American Legal System to a fictional law game originally made in Japan in 2001, but even if the Concept of Discovery is true in the Ace Attorney series, then it’s not right to ignore what the prosecutors in the original trilogy pull to secure a Guilty verdict.

A example from Turnabout Sister; Phoenix points out a contradiction with Gumshoe's testimony. The detective states that the victim in the case wrote the defendant's name, but her autopsy report says that she died instantly. But what's this? Edgeworth just so happens to have an updated autopsy report without Phoenix's knowledge and the Judge just accepts this with no questions, invalidating Wright's objection. This is one of the many major holes in MatPat’s theory.

And to explain why Phoenix was able to present evidence like the sleeping pills bottle in Turnabout Samurai, allow me to present a piece of evidence that you come across in Rise from the Ashes.

I present you this Evidence Law Book.

Allow me to elaborate a bit. I’ve looked this up after reading a comment left by Chaotic Note and it turn out that they were right. The book’s two rules are essential to not just the case itself, but also to the understanding of the legal system that Phoenix lives in. Read these two rules carefully, as they’re related to presenting evidence during a trial.

Rule 1: No evidence shall be shown without approval of the Police Department.

Rule 2: Unregistered evidence must be relevant to the case in trial.

No only does this evidence proves that Wright is more than likely not breaking any laws in term of presenting evidence, but this also pushes the envelope that Wright’s legal system is very much different from ours! The reason why Phoenix "conceals" his evidence is because the court system demands that he present these pieces of evidence on relevant statements. This is how the game works!

Now, why MatPat chose to not speak of this information, I am not sure. All the re-releases of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney since 2005 came with Rise from the Ashes. This only leads me to one conclusion. Though I'm hoping this is just a hunch, I cannot ignore this implication.

MatPat did not complete the full game, stopping at Turnabout Goodbyes so that he can put out an Ace Attorney theory two months before Spirits of Justice comes out so that he can make a quick buck of the AA community.

I don't want to believe it, but considering the videos he made as of late, I wouldn't put it behind him. At least this isn't a YouTube Red video. *shivers*

And of course, MatPat's final claim that Wright is a criminal is obstruction of justice, saying that Wright has tampered with the crime scene. The answer to this is simple: Wright didn't do nuffin.

Firstly, I'm going to pretend that MatPat didn't just call Mia Fey "Hotty McLegal" and assumed that Wright was touching something else instead of her arm to check for a pulse. I'm not trying to be a SJW here, but it just makes MatPat look immature.

Secondly, when Wright takes note of a piece of evidence he finds in the background, he does not remove them from the scene. If he have, none of the evidence he "collected" would be on the floor, let alone one of them in Gumshoe's possession when he returns to the room, as shown by the very footage you're using!

It may just be a theory, but a theory isn't excused from criticism. I hope that MatPat eventually comes around and resume making quality videos. Until then, I'll just stick to the WMG sections of TVTrope pages. The defense rest their case.

If you wish to find more in-depth analysis and general videos on the Ace Attorney franchise, I recommend giving Innocent Kristoph Gavin (on hiatus, will be back late July with a new video) and TheStoryteller (writing a review on Apollo Justice) a try. I would like to thank for giving feedback on what I had on GDoc prior to making this blog. Now if you excuse me, I have to get through Moe's testimony again.

I understand where you're coming from with losing your enthusiasm for something you really enjoy. I've experienced this kind of fatigue when I was playing video games because of my increasing cynicism from what was going on in the gaming industry as of late. I've also experienced this with pop punk bands as I felt that the large majority of them were trying to replicate the pop punk bands from the 90s, and a lot of bookworms have seen how much good repeating the past has done for Gatsby. I've took a break from watching the WWE during 2009 because I didn't found the "sports entertainment" wrestling promotion to be very entertaining during that time period, ironically. I don't find Triple H and Shawn Michaels to be very entertaining when their making jokes about midgets. And I've always found Shawn to be more entertaining than Hunter in comparison. No hate on Trips, he's talented in his own rights, but I'm HBK all the way when I think about whose the more talented of the two.

After Season 3 and a bit into Season 4, I've chose to stop watching FiM for awhile and took a bit of a break from writing some of my stories based on the show shorty after. Not because the show was rubbing me the wrong way, but because I felt unhappy with the huge amount of negativity in fandom and I felt that I needed a break from everything pony related at the time. When something you enjoy starts to make a negative affect on you, whenever it be physically or emotionally, it's time to just take a step back and think about whenever or not you still want to enjoy it.

I disagree with some of the things you've said in your post, such as the storytelling. Just because you have a message to send to the masses and your product is rated TV Y, this does not by any means necessary excuse your product of criticism for the plot holes and storylines that makes no sense. I'll use the WWE for example. Recently, The Authority, a heel (wrestling term for an asshole) stable consisting of Triple H, his wife, a literal big baby (i think? I just want him to stop being poorly booked), Seth Rollins, and a man who sounds a lot like Kane going through a mid-life crisis have been putting the three man band three man group New Day, a group that just about everyone hates so much that they ended up turning heel, in matches that were ridiculously unfair, like a 10-on-3 handicap match and they have to defend their title against five other teams back on a PPV Payback. On Thursday, however, they went out to help The Authority attack faces (wrestling term for the good guy) Roman Reign (a guy smarks once cheered to win the Royal Rumble last year since they didn't like Batista, but then booed him this year even when The Rock tried to put him over) and Dean Ambrose (one of the best workers in the promotion right now). How they don't even remember this detail is still going through my mind. A Saturday morning cartoon has more consistency than this.

Rainbow Falls is hated because it throws away previous characterization of The Wonderbolts (a group that Rainbow Dash holds dear in her heart and wants to join) and made them other than Soarin into completely unlikable jerks and were antagonized poorly for the sake of the plot going somewhere. While I disagree with the analysis approach not working for this show, I do agree that some episodes do get more criticism than they actually deserve.

During those time periods, I chose to do activities that I enjoyed and didn't made me feel negative. For this time period, I got back into some of the bands that I used to listen a lot in the past, like Bad Religion, Descendents, ALL, Anti-Flag, Smashing Pumpkins, Paramore, and others. I gotten into some new bands like The Wonder Years, Tonight Alive, Night Birds, and Walls of Jericho. I watch some shows that ended and I still enjoyed watching them to this day. I've helped my friends with stuff such as moving, mowing the lawn, unpacking, etc. I watch Bryan Danielson finally getting his moment as the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion at WM30.

It wasn't until I went to Bronycon last year I partaken in something that was related to the show. During my time there in my Twilight Sparkle cosplay (including some dance shoe that didn't felt really comfortable on me), I felt like I was breathing in a bit of fresh air. I haven't engaged in anything MLP related for a good while, but I felt that it didn't mattered to me one bit as I felt happy during my time there. I gotten myself some merch and multiple posters that I loved. I haven't seen the show for 7 months, and I not only did I still recognized it, I remember why I enjoyed the show and gotten right back into it and resume writing my stories.

I guess what I am trying to say is, we sometimes need to take a break from something we enjoy and do others things that we're also interested in, otherwise you end up barely surviving a staph infection and decide its a good idea to join the UFC afterwards, and then become more of a prima donna than you're usually are you'll end up becoming a pessimist about it and grow to even hate it. I honestly think that fatigue is a factor of not just people leaving the fandom, but becoming disinterested in things you like in general. I've learned that if we just take break from something we got tired of doing and come back to it sometime later, we may refresh some of the enthusiasm we had for it in the past.

Oh, this is so adorable how stupid people run good things to the ground.

So, since Google thought that changing the entire layout and shoving Google + down every-fucking-YouTuber's throats wasn't enough, they decided to throw content ID abroad the website and changed YouTube's copyright policy. Said new policy can prevent many YouTube channels from trying to make new gaming content, smaller YouTube channels trying to become popular let's players, and it can hurt their YouTube partners that mostly do Let's Plays.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of copyright laws. I wouldn't want someone to be running off with something I've originally made without my permission and get away with it. But the way Google is doing it with YouTube is only going to end up hurting the people who still use YouTube, especially for the ones who still makes videos there at this point.

Want an example of how exactly it can hurt YouTube channels? Well, pretend I'm PewDiePie. I'm one of the biggest YouTube personalities ever, and it's not just an opinion or an ego problem, it's a fact. Just about everyone knows who I'm am and what I do. Love me or hate me, you at least know who exactly I am. I decided that I wanted to do a Let's Play of a very well known game, like GTA V. I've gotten done with everything I needed to do to get this Let's Play series started, now it's time to watch those views com-

Now you can stop pretending that I'm Pewdiepie. Obviously, this is going to work less than well with their gaming partners. And if this policy doesn't get fix (which it may not), the partners aren't going to be happy campers off-screen, and some of them might end up taking business elsewhere. Classic Game Room has already done this.

And the worse thing is this doesn't applies to just video games, it applies to just about every category. This is probably the worst change they made since they brought YouTube.

You can now go back to what you were originally doing. You can comment on what you think about this if you want.

Hey guys. Now, for some of you who may have know, there's a bit of commotion going on in the fandom about people leaving the Brony community. Some are leaving because of the recent controversies that has been going on, others are leaving because of the poor choices of other bronies, and others are leaving simply because they feel like it's time to move on. As I seen from the internet, a lot of people have been worried about the fandom's existence. Questioning whenever or not the fandom is dying.

And to be quite honest, here's my two cents: I'm not worried at all. Leaving the fandom isn't all that bad.

If someone wants to leave a fandom or don't want to be classified as a fan nickname anymore (Whovian, Trekkie, Brony, etc.), then that's fine. I won't try to stop them from leaving the fandom or term. Joining something, whatever it may be, isn't just a one-way street as some may think it is, it's ultimately up to the choice of whoever is in this type of situation.

So what's your opinion on it, do you think that leaving a fandom is really that bad, or are you fine with someone departing one?

Recap: While Season 3 was short, but I've still found it enjoyable, nonetheless. It wasn't as terrible as people say it was, though I will admit that King Sombra was a disappointment and that there were a couple of episodes I didn't like. But overall, Season 3 is a fairly good season with as much memorable moments as it predecessors.

    Equestria Girls- Good

Well, back to waiting for Season 4 premiere. But first:

Sitting in my room fighting the battle to stay awake writing my silly story with my only allies being determination, The Wonder Years and Motion City blasting at full volume, and this cup of coffee I made for myself. Since I'm really only good at procrastinating Because I have plenty of free time though, I'll be listing off this season's episodes by a scale of 1 - 10. My opinion on these episodes and season 5 will change over time.

Except for Princess Spike. Princess Spike was awful.

The Cutie Map: 10/10, a really good start for Season 5 and really sets this year's theme of Cutie Marks.

Castle Sweet Castle: 7/10, as Rainbow puts it, it was alight.

Bloom & Gloom: 9/10, a GOOD CMC episode? Well, maybe a good Spike episode isn't a hopeless dream after all!

Tanks for the Memories: 5/10, I like how Rainbow didn't even have to do community service for jeopardizing the lives of others in this, I need more of this to fill the empty void that Dan Vs. once filled

Appleoosa's Most Wanted: 5/10, well, maybe Spike's episode will be better...

Make New Friends but Keep Discord: 2/10, what? Discord's a redeemed villain? I couldn't tell, really.

The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone: 6/10, the lore wasn't really worth much.

Slice of Life: 10/10, one of the best non-opener episodes in Season 5.

Dipshit Princess Spike (silly old auto-correct): -1/10, the embodiment of everything I hate about Spike's treatment. Nothing redeeming about it, not even the memes could sway my opinion. Please put Spike out of his misery already.

Party Pooped: 1/10, I'd wish they would stop yakking around. The yaks felt every little bit of stereotypical and were simply unsympathetic on screen (I was kinda hoping they did go to war just to see the Princesses curb stomp them).

Amending Fences: 10/10, Larson, stop tormenting me like this, please.

Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheeps: 3/10, this episode sure is a good one to sleep through.

Canterlot Boutique: 8/10, what I learn is Rarity's well liked for a reason.

Rarity Investigates: 7/10, I love me some film noir.

Made in Manhatten: 4/10, meh 1.

    Brotherhood Social: 4/10, meh 2.

Crusaders of the Lost Mark: 10/10, I'm loving the CMC right now.

The One Who Pinkie Pie Knows: 3/10, a dull watch.

Heartbreakers: 8/10, and in good old Pinkie fashion she makes a comeback.

Scare Master: 7/10, Flutters' not savage enough. - EQD

What About Discord: 2/10, okay Discord, pack your things and beat it. You may not be the nicest of the recurring cast, but you should know by now that not being a dick is mandatory.

The Hooffields and McColts: 3/10, almost as bad as the yaks.

The Mane Attraction: 9/10, AJ has the coolest childhood friend out of the six.

The Cutie Re-Mark: 4/10, the alternate timeline hijinks were all entertaining (still don't see how two greedy salesmen are worse than a centaur who becomes more stronger and destructive by absorbing magic though) but the pacing near the end felt iffy, and I generally not a huge fan of how they capped things off.

Overall, I'd say this was a good season despite some bumps along the way. Hopefully Rainbow won't destroy another weather factory while we all hibernate.

    Oh right, my story.
