  1. Twilight only got to the position she is in with the help of her friends, and as shown in Magical Mystery Cure, she knows that. I am sure she feels, and knows, that during this big change in her life she needs her friends more than ever. Plus, from a show production standpoint, thinking that the writers/directors/etc are going to be pulling Twilight away from her friends, with the possible exception of it being a plot point for episodes 1 + 2, is preposterous.
  2. Whether is bad, or okay, I doubt this will have any effect on the main show, nor my perceptions of it. I'm not going to get myself worked up over something which is obviously not targeted at me, nor am I going to let it affect something that I enjoy that is barely related.
  3. Seems to like me that half of people are either absolutely loathing this show, mainly for it not having the depth & serious storylines of the original, while the other half at the very least is enjoying it, while still admitting its nothing like, and probably nowhere as good, as the original. Pretty much what I expected upon this show's announcement. Apparently the premier did pretty good in the ratings among key demos. And for people in the second group, the plots of the next two episodes airing next Tuesday have been released, along with clips.
  4. I was a huge fan of the original show (can't believe its been almost a decade since it premiered!), so of course I watched this "revival." Overall, I liked it; I found myself laughing, or at least chuckling throughout. It's of course great to see all the original voice crew back, as they all work so well together. For anyone potentially thinking about watching the show (first two eps will replay on DC Nation on Saturday morning), do not go in expecting the old show--it's not. This is like the comedy episodes of the original on steroids. If you expect more deep storylines and dark episodes, you will be disappointed. That being said, for what it was I enjoyed it. I do wish they would have kept the animation style of the amazing "New Teen Titans" shorts that had been showing on DC Nation--even though it was Chibi, the animation & shading were still fantastic and were much more true to the original show. The new flash-style animation sort-of fits the tone of the show, but is nothing great... (Spoilers to follow) One major thing that seems to be different from this show vs. the shorts on DC Nation is while it is obviously in the same universe as the original, it seems to be taken as a completely different incarnation, and does not have direct continuity with the original. The DC Nation shorts made a huge amount of hilarious references to the original, through both character returns and blatant situational and dialogue references. This is probably due to it being created by much of the best crew of the original, including writer David Stack, director Ben Jones, and the same crew for the BGM. The new show doesn't have the crossover unfortunately, but at least has reoccurring characters. In conclusion, I will definitely continue watching this show. I have a feeling it will get mixed reactions from fans, many of whom probably just were expecting/wanting more of the original (see "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY TITANS!!11!!"). While I would like the see the style of the original return, I am more that willing the accept this instead of nothing. It's not terrible, it has the heart of the original in many ways, and in no way can it "kill" a show that has been off the air for six years now... It's great to see this cast back on the screen at all!
  5. I like this theory the best. Take a look at the amulet and Sombra side-by-side. The colors and overall style of these two designs are very, very in sync. I wouldn't be surprised if Sombra was the original owner of the amulet 1000 years ago, whether he crafted it himself (matching his style), or found it and his style got altered to match it. The amulet could have given him the power to rule over the Crystal Empire, weather with bad intentions or not in the beginning. It then corrupted him like Trixie, and made him go insane until he was eventually defeated by Celestia & Luna. Maybe some subplot about Luna somehow getting ahold of the amulet eventually turning her into Nightmare Moon (fits so perfectly with the events of S3 Ep 1 + 2)! The amulet was then hidden, possibly stolen by some treasure hunter (think Daring Do), and eventually found its way into Trixie's hands. Now, we do not know how long it was before the events of Magic Duel when Trixie got the amulet in the beginning of the episode. What if, at the beginning when she got her hands on the amulet, that actually took place before the season 3 opener? What if her actually using said amulet was somehow what reawakened Sombra? So much potential...... That being said I'd love to see more Sombra in season 4.
  6. For me Applejack is best pony. For a while it was very hard to decide, as all of the Mane 6 had either something I could relate to, or something that I just really enjoyed about them - Twilight and her studious nature and bookishness - Rainbow Dash and her ability to control weather and overall humorous attitude - Fluttershy and her timidness around new people, which I can relate to - Pinkie Pie and her randomness. I love random comedy. - Rarity and her hilariously sudden mood changes and her dramatic over-the-top nature But I found myself just really pulled to Applejack in the end. I think it is her overall personality, her willingness to always put others before herself, and her strong yet caring nature. I can relate to a lot about her in my personality, and I really find the southern accent and mannerisms cute. Not to mention she has some of my favorite faces, and the little hoof-kick-cross thing gets me every time. I later realized that since I was like 7, my favorite cheese that I always had at my grandmas growing up was "Applejack" cheese, and my favorite color is Orange. Dunno if that subconsciously helped me choose, which I find hilarious, but I have enough other reasons to justify my choice. As for reoccurring characters, I picked all the Cutie Mark Crusaders. All of them have such great personalities that play off each other, give great dialogue, and have great expressions. A lot of this is just due to their very talented voice actors. And finally favorite BG ponies go to Colgate (Minutte) and Bon Bon. I just really like the design and color scheme of them both, and find Colgate's fan-cannon to be amusing. Plus, I love how Bon Bon pretty much has a different voice every time she speaks. I hope they keep doing this on purpose--it's just funny.
  7. Hmm. A hard one for me, as I find it hard to list my favorite songs here, which might not necessarily be the ones I find in my head the most. I've had "A True, True Friend" and "I've Got to Find a Way" stuck in my head since the finale, but I'm not sure if I would consider them my most catchy songs or not... "Smile, Smile, Smile" would have probably been it before the finale, but until I get further away from the S3 finale, I'm going to be biased towards those first two.
  8. I guess it depends on what stage of the "finding out about the show" process we're talking about. I somehow doubt I would have found the show when I was a kid, simply because the internet isn't what it is today. I started watching the show because of the discussion/image macros about it on the internet, and not much else. That being said, if I managed to cross the show's path another way, such as it was on a network with a lot of cartoons I was watching at the time (like CN), I would have probably still liked it. But if it was like today when it's on a network which I had never watched until this show, I probably would not have found it. Heck, I loved the Powerpuff Girls when I was growing up (and still do today), so no doubt that if I watched an episode back then I would have liked it. Again, it just a matter of finding the show in the first place for me!
  9. Somehow I doubt this is actually an in-theatres movie. I mean, I've seen crazier stuff come out in theatres will little advertising... but still. I'm guessing it is still a Direct-to-DVD kind-of thing that will show on the Hub at some point too. It looks like "Digiplex Destinations" might have secured rights to show the movie in some of their locations, but that doesn't mean this is a full on theatrical release. From their mission statement: They show a ton of "non-movie" content, including live events, etc. Also, if you go to their website (http://movienewsletters.net/websites/digiplex/index.asp), the movie on it is actually located under "Alternate Programs --> Family" and not under their theatrical "Movies" section. Now the rest of the movies on that page are theatrical releases, but they are all older movies that are not currently in theatres and are just bring reshown for families.
  10. Hello all! I'm RainShadow. I've been watching the show, and part of the fandom, for over a year now (I think I first watched Episode 1 in January 2012, finished through the most recent episode of the time just in time to watch "A Friend in Deed" live). I was looking into joining some of the forums around that time, but somehow managed to put it off, mainly participating in livechats and /r/mlp. Thought I'd finally join here to get through this long summer! Obligatory answer: Favorite Pony is Applejack. "Applejack" has been my favorite cheese and "orange" my favorite color since I was like 7, yet I didn't realize this until after I ultimately decided AJ was best pony. Weird. Also big fan of Rainbow Dash due to weather being a big interest of mine. Without running on any longer, what drew me to the show was 1) The Music 2) The Animation/layout 3) The characters and character-driven stories. The last show I really got into and participated actively in fan forums on was "Teen Titans," which shared these same qualities. Looking forward to chatting and discussing with you all over the long break! Oh, and if you haven't for some reason, go get the MLP comics. Seriously. Now. They are fantastic.
