  1. And here's a prime reason why I don't and never will get into online gaming, or the gaming community in general. And I felt this way long before I was ever a brony. The lack of maturity or respect towards anyone is... staggering. Online gaming is one of those examples of people overestimating human nature. They all expected it'd be an awesome fun community of fellow gamers playing together and making new friends. What we are left with is a den of overgrown children doing anything and everything they can to make themselves feel superior to everyone else, and anyone who does come in with an ounce of maturity and a desire to have a friendly and respectful gaming session is laughed off and ridiculed while they all circle-jerk each other. No sir, I get plenty of abuse in the real world, I don't need it on a bloody video game.
  2. Considering I've seen these go for no less than $100 and up on eBay, I'd say $50 is a steal, so I gladly ordered mine. I'll still be getting the Funko one when it comes out, but I wanted this one partially for the joy of having (what I believe is) an important and really cool piece of MLP merch, and partially because it's shiny~~
  3. The thing is, and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, regardless of what channel it airs on, My Little Pony is still a Hasbro-owned property. If Lauren Faust wanted to make her own My Little Pony show just out of the blue, she'd still have to get Hasbro's permission to use the property. You can't compare them to other Cartoon Network original programming (such as Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, etc) because the operative word in those shows is original programming. They can do what they want because it's their property to manage as they see fit. Ms Faust doesn't own MLP, so whether it's aired on the Hub, or CN, or Nickelodeon, or Discovery Channel, they'd still have to do whatever Hasbro says as it belongs to them entirely. What you can compare it to, is Transformers, another Hasbro property that did air on Cartoon Network for a time, before the Hub existed. Every incarnation of that show had to do whatever Hasbro said. Beast Wars had to deal with a lot of this (though it was still an amazing show). And MLP would be just the same. As for names, trademarks is serious bizniss and Hasbro has had to deal with that COUNTLESS times. Again, I bring up Transformers. Hasbro has had unbelievable amounts of trouble in making new toys that homage characters in previous generations, because they lost the names. It happens, trademarks expire, and this is especially troublesome when reviving 80's franchises (which MLP is). They had the same problems with G.I. Joe. I am not one bit surprised that they lost the G1 names for MLP. So please, before laying Hasbro on the guillotine, keep all this in mind.
  4. Gonna have to go with the herd here and say Applejack as well, and also I'd consider Rarity too. However, not necessarily because of her reason being more charitable (which it is) but mostly because, out of the Mane 6, Applejack and Rarity seem like they'd be the ones I, Twilight Sparkle, could most trust to behave themselves at the Gala. Pinkie was obviously gonna cause a scene, Rainbow would obviously be doing stunts to please the Wonderbolts, and Flutters... well we saw what happened with her. Applejack is a mature, level-headed pony and she would've sat still and sold some treats, and Rarity knows just how to behave with upper-class snobs. Or maybe I'll just be a troll and invite Sweetie Belle.
  5. Thanks! I will admit, I was very frightened of vectors at first, and I will further admit that I still don't know how to "properly" vector. These are not actually "vectors" in the literal sense, since they were made in Photoshop with the pen tool. They can't be sized up like true vectors can, but for my uses I don't need them to do that. You might try doing it that way if you're a Photoshop user. This method is one I've used for ages, but I used this tutorial to get a better grasp on using it for ponies. It can get a bit tedious at times (especially hooves!) but it's also a lot of fun to do.
  6. As an Andrew WK fan, I enjoyed the music, and I will say the animation quality was very good. I didn't actually watch the whole thing though, and probably won't, because I'm just not a fan of grimdark in general and also not a fan of heavy violence or "shock for the sake of shock" (especially in a cartoon like MLP, it just feels forced and out of place). Same reason I don't like the .MOV series. Really talented work on the part of the creator, but I feel like people try to shoehorn "Ren & Stimpy" humour into everything too often and it just feels tired and cliché now. Just in my opinion. But yeah, do love that song though.
  7. I'm glad! I was holding off on redesigning her mane as I was hoping that colour would resolve the Trixie similarity. I'll mess with the eyebrows a bit. Hindlegs I might leave as is, only because with the way I make these vectors, something like that'd be difficult to adjust. The spike of hair I'll admit was kind of an afterthought, I added it to make her mane even more unique from Trixie's. I might modify it or cut it off if it starts to bug me. The eyes were traced directly from Rarity's eyes, but the stray eyelash isn't essential so I probably will nix it (plus adds uniqueness). Yup, starved for colour is the idea with her, she's meant to be as drab and grey a pony as they come, like an old photo come to life. Her whole body (minus the head, which is Rarity's) was traced from a screen of Twilight (as the sketch proved unsuitable for vectoring). The legs I'll see what I can do but they suffer from the limitations I mentioned above. The armband and eyebrows I can mess with. The eyes here were modified from the Rarity face I used as a base but their sizes are like that in the original (it's hard to tell but her head is bit tilted) but I'll see what I can do on those. The neck is actually what I most wanted to hear about. The Twilight pic I used had the neck that thick, and once I saw the finished pic it did look off to me (and her mane exacerbates it), but I opted to leave it as is and change it later. That I should be able to fix relatively painlessly, so I'll be messing with it a bit and get it thinned out.
  8. Thanks! Sadly, as much as I'd like to take requests (good for practise), I'm afraid I can't, at least for the moment, as I'd have no time to fill them all. Agreed on the eye lines, they were bugging me a bit too and you gave me the push I needed to fix it. They're a bit thicker now (matched to Rainbow Dash's eyelines), though granted the helmet covers most of it (I really should do a no-helmet version of her... hmm..). As for the leg, I see what you mean. I filled in an originally empty part under her leg by her chest, which hopefully makes the leg look a bit more 'complete', let me know what you reckon. Thanks for that! I was worried his overall lines might not be so show-like given his different design. Good call on the hoof/boot, I went back and rounded/thickened it up and I like it much better, makes him look bulkier which I want for him. Interesting thing about the ear, after reading your post I went to see how I could best fix it, so I looked up generic "base" vectors for stallions to see how the ear should go with no mane, and pretty much NOBODY bothers to draw the ear that's (normally) hidden by the mane. So I had to do a bit of guesswork on where to best reposition it. I think it looks about right now, but do let me know if it could be better. I've updated the first post with the new versions for Fallout and Short Fuse. Cheers for the constructive crits, mate! NEW POST: And the next in line to get vectored up is Baton Bleu. She was probably the most labour-intensive one so far, mostly because of the hat, and the fact I kept modifying her design whilst vectoring her. Her manestyle is different than her original sketch. Like with Short Fuse, I wanted to trade sketch-accuracy for show accuracy, and so Rarity provided her modelling services for BB's head and face (which I was pleased to see were already surprisingly close to the sketch), as well as her right front leg (simply because I preferred that pose to the original one). She wasn't easy, but I'm very happy with the way she came out. Aaaagh, I hate double posting... x___x I swear the next one is always more labour-intensive than the one before. Anyway I did a vector for Nurse Ironcross now. Also my first go at doing the unicorn "magicky" effect around the horn. I was going to vector up her syringe (the reason for the magic effect), but I was feeling really tired/lazy after vectoring her and decided not to. Might do one up later. As always, commentary is appreciated and welcomed.
  9. Well, the Japanese is... forgiven. The drawing itself, however, is fantastic. I love the style you used on this and their expressions are adorable~ Also love the effect on the necklace/collar things. I do love shiny things. Keep up the good work!
  10. I knew I passed the point of no return when I saw this box at work, and got WAY more amusement out of it than any normal person really ought to:
  11. OH HELL YEAH. I can confirm that this is real, by the way. And I don't care what anybody says about Microsoft right now, they can have my soul. I'm gonna go and buy me a Dashie~ Also the haters (of which I'm sure there are a lot on XBL) must be crapping their pants in rage over this. Which is excellent.
  12. I twist the two halves apart, making sure all the cream stays on one cookie, then I eat the non-cream half, followed by the cream half. If milk is available, there will be dunking.
  13. I've seen that necklace, almost bought it myself. It's a bit sparkly which might get some stares (though those necklaces were designed to be unisex). I say go for it though, mate. Life's too short to deny yourself the simple pleasures. I have a bunch of pony necklaces. My first was a two-pack of Dashie's face as the pendant, and another of her cutie mark. I wear them constantly. Then I bought a Rarity one with a MASSIVE Rarity pendant and a Derpy one with a similarly huge Derpy pendant. And I've actually gotten some compliments on them, I love wearing them out. I was a bit scared at first, but it all turned out fine. If it helps, back in the day I used to have a necklace I made that my dad didn't approve of when I was in high school. So I just kept it in my bag and put it on at school. Problem solved and all my classmates loved the necklace.
  14. 98% of the radio stations round my area are complete rubbish (to me). A huge portion of them are Christian stations, and no offence meant to the religious among us, but it's not my personal cup of tea. Another massive portion consists of Latino/Hispanic music which I really don't particularly care for. The remaining tiny percentage plays mostly popular music, but nothing I really care to listen to. There's a few smooth jazz stations I might hit up if I'm desperate but I tend to be very picky with jazz. There are only a few relative oases in this useless radio catalogue. One is the classical music station, which is publicly-funded and has no ads. The other is a classic rock station with a pretty OK selection. The last is my most frequented station, an alternative rock station that's run by a local university. The only ads are occasional government PSA's, and they have some pretty decent alternative and punk songs circulating. Only problems are that sometimes they postpone the music to air town-hall meetings and such, and the selection can be pretty hit-and-miss sometimes as well. But the biggest problem is their DISMAL reception, and the station is often very staticky and often gets intercut with a (you guessed it) religious station. But it's the best of the slim pickings when I want rock, so I stick to that one most. To answer the question: Most of the radio - 1 out of 10 Classic rock station - 6 out of 10 Classical music station - 9 out of 10 Alternative station - 6-8 out of 10 (depending on reception that day)
  15. I don't see where anyone's getting the idea that people are acting like Rainbow Dash says it all the time. It's just a fun fandom catchphrase bronies use to spice up conversation. Every fandom has their own little memetic catchphrases and this one's no different. It's all in good fun and nothing to get annoyed over. IMO, the fact people are letting themselves get annoyed at something as simple and commonplace as creating catchphrases from memorable lines just gives me this mental image of someone yelling "STOP HAVING FUN. MY LITTLE PONY IS SERIOUS BUSINESS." I am not unfair, however, and I will admit that if someone's overusing it to an obnoxious degree it does wear out the novelty a bit, but that's applicable to pretty much anything and shouldn't mean the practise has to stop altogether.
  16. Been meaning to make a thread like this so I stop cluttering up the forum with so many threads whenever I make something new. I could've used my original thread, but I wanted to start clean. So basically, in here I will put all my pony drawings, vectors, OC's, and everything else pony-related I make. I will be updating it any time I make something new, so some double-posting is to be expected (I hope that's OK in this case!) I'll start by posting the latest thing I made, which is a vector in my ongoing trek to vector all my OC's. This time Short Fuse gets the treatment. She's probably the OC vector I'm happiest with so far. I wanted to make her more show-accurate so I borrowed Twilight's snout and Dashie's wing rather than vectoring them off my original sketch. Everything else is off the old sketch. And for completion's sake, I'm also reposting the vectors for Wind Shear and Fallout: More to follow~ EDIT: Newer version of these vectors uploaded.
  17. There's limits to how much of a douche you can be while still hiding behind "Oh, I'm royalty" (which is a dick thing to say in and of itself). Royalty or not, there's a difference between expecting to be waited on, and grabbing someone you barely know and using them as a shield to keep your mane clean. At that point one treads kinda close to "douchebag" territory. Celestia, Luna, and Cadence are all royalty as well and nowhere near as self-centred. Rarity's fault is that she's too stubborn for her own good. She could've walked away, but the disappointment of seeing her crush be nothing like how she envisioned him kept her trying way too hard to make it work, even after realising that enough was enough.
  18. I wouldn't change my username, because I find it makes things confusing, and as I'm still fairly new here, I'm sure most people whould have no idea who I was if I changed it. Plus this username is a modification of the username that's stuck with me for many years now. As for avatars, I change those more often than some people change their socks. I'm usually making avatars/signatures if I'm bored and so I tend to have a list of new ones to use. It's actually kind of strange for me that I've kept this one for so long. I've been wanting to change it but don't have the heart to, mostly because I've gotten a lot of compliments on it, and I mean come on, it's TACO BELLE!
  19. Pretty much this for me, but with Season 3. I've only just finished working my way through Season 2. I have all three seasons available to me, and I can marathon the whole series if I feel like it, but I deliberately chose to slowly savour each episode. Granted, I'm already caught up with all the major plot details (thanks to spoilers, which I'm fine with) so I already know all about Twilicorn and whatnot. I do the same thing with anime series. I deliberately drag it out as long as I can. I don't really find the whole "force-feeding an entire series in one day" thing that so many people do to be any fun. I'd rather pace myself and enjoy each episode on its own.
  20. Today I bought a small Pinkie Pie plushie (the "pasta-haired" kind), but this one's not for me. This Pinkie was for my little niece, who is in town visiting, and it turns out she likes ponies too (well, she is in the target demographic, haha).
  21. Oop, sounds like folks are reading WAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much into things again. Blueblood's intended characterisation was kinda obvious from the get-go. He clearly likes mares, and attempted in his own misguided way to flirt with Rarity, but he's just such a stuck up selfish douche that he blew it. That's all he really was. He's almost more of a plot device (in the sense that he's only there to totally ruin Rarity's gala fantasy) than a proper character.
  22. I've only stood up to a bully once, but it hardly counts as we were in primary school and kids push each other constantly there. After that, my own weakness caught up to me and I couldn't keep up in the arms race. I am not at all physically fit, and I am most certainly not what one would ever consider as imposing or threatening in any way. Basically, I am like that one weak-looking antelope that all the lions go for. Easy prey. So naturally I was bullied constantly. I had no choice but to take it, as most of these kids were older, bigger, or otherwise far more physically superior to me (hell, some of the younger kids were actually stronger than me). It was a choice between taking some verbal abuse, or taking a beating, so I opted for the former and just gritted my teeth and took the abuse until they went away. The few times I was pushed far enough to try violence ended badly for me, so eventually I learned fighting back just wasn't an option, and verbal retaliation would also just get me a black eye or worse, so I just withdrew, pushed the anger down, and waited until they got bored and left. Sometimes easier said than done. To this day I am still not out of the woods. I am every bit the harmless-looking weakling I always was, so even though the bullies are largely a thing of the past, I still have to watch my back and make sure I never, EVER get into a physical confrontation or any other situation where I might have to defend myself. Subsequently that means being a very big doormat. Eh, you get used to it... (kinda) What I do now is try my best to get on (and stay on) everyone's good side early on if I know I'm going to be interacting with them constantly; or in the case of random strangers, just stay out of sight and out of the way.
  23. I CLOP. EVERY. DAY. Just kidding... maybe... No I really am. I don't really do anything special in the off-seasons. I draw ponies, rewatch episodes, hunt around for fresh merch, browse the forums, look at pony stuff on YouTube, etc. Though really I'd be doing these things regardless even when it's not an off-season. My bronyness isn't really something that runs dry or needs to be replenished, it'll always be there even when there's no new episodes.
  24. One thing I've found is that this seems to be one of the most paranoid fandoms I've ever been in. Damn near everything is going to break the show to some people. I just had a look in the "what's the worst that could happen in S4" thread, and my God I hope most of those (and I'm guessing most are) are tongue-in-cheek responses, because people are treating this show as if it were made of glass. Despite any small hiccups there might have been along the way, the writers and staff have done good by us so far for 3 seasons, and I seriously doubt that after all the knowledge they've gathered telling these stories, and all the feedback, that they're suddenly going to go full-moron and destroy the series. Honestly, if people are going to jump ship because of every little change or alteration to their flawless mental image of their ideal My Little Pony cartoon, then I'd recommend they do so, because no show could be worth that much stress.
  25. So now that I've vectored one of my OC's, it's time to vector another one. Next in the series is Fallout. He was actually more difficult than I'd anticipated given his relatively simple design, but much easier and faster than Wind Shear was. There may be a some things I can improve upon, but I'm pretty much happy with how he came out. And now you know what colour he is.
