ID software. Most known for making such classics as Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake, you'd have to have lived under a rock for the last 25 years or so to not know of this developer's accomplishments.
They were pioneers in game development, creating the legendary id tech proprietary game engine, which many engines today are based off of.
Wolfenstein 3D was a simple maze shooter, but it was still something. Then Doom came along and really pushed the fps genre into mainstream attention. The game was also a technical marvel, as limitations of computer hardware at the time made game development harder. But iD worked with the limitations given to them and made a game that was ahead of it's time. The game used various techniques to work with the limitations and the result is a game that is still played and modded to this day.  I won't go into the various techniques the game used but look into them, it's really interesting stuff. Really showed how Doom worked with the limitations.
    Quake.
Ah yes, Quake. What Doom did for the FPS genre, as well as PC gaming, oh yeah, iD also pushed the PC as a legitimate gaming platform as well, but what Doom did for FPS and PC gaming, Quake did for multiplayer.
More on that in a bit.
Quake was also a technical marvel at the time, both graphically and, well technically, it was incredible. 3D environments, models, multiple floors, mouse look, fast paced gameplay, it was an incredible experience. It's engine is still influenced today, most engines used today are based off of Quake 2's engine.
Now, multiplayer. This game was revolutionary for online multiplayer. It's fast paced gameplay made for fun deathmatch. And then when Quake 3 came out, it was a standard. It started the esports craze which continues today. Were it not for Quake 3, Cod multiplayer wouldn't be a thing, most FPS wouldn't have taken off, and all the multiplayer focused games wouldn't be a thing.
The gaming industry owes a lot to iD Software, and that is why they're the most influential developer. They created an amazing engine, which is still improved and modified, kicked off the online multiplayer craze, and popularized the FPS genre. Their legacy will be remembered for years.

Super Metroid is a side-scrolling action adventure game that released for the SNES in 1994. It released and quickly became a fan favorite not only on the SNES, but in general, and is considered by many to be the greatest game ever made.
It is a true masterpiece, and my favorite video game. Metroid is my favorite series, and this game perfectly encapsulates everything great about the series. Atmosphere, gameplay, music, bosses, level design, it's all perfect. This is a game I can come back to over and over, and have fun every time, always trying to make a new sequence break, and beat my previous run time.
The gameplay is tight, and very satisfying to pull off a hard sequence break, and there's just something about the wall-jumping that's fun. The boss battles are incredible, from the Spooky Phantoon, to the towering Kraid, to the intimidating Ridley, to the terrifying Mother Brain, each fight is amazing and special, all have some challenge and are memorable, even the disturbing Crocomire fight.
The music is atmospheric and charming, each is special in their own way, from the low and slow paced Red Soil Brinstar, to the upbeat and catchy overgrown green brinstar, to the haunting and mysterious Rocky Maridia, to the imposing Lower Norfair theme, and the memorable boss tracks, all are great in their own way, and perfectly capture the tone of the game, and each area.
Level design is also incredible. visuals are still fantastic, at least in my opinion, for a SNES game 23 years old. It's aged tremendously well, and the level design is some of the best, you can exploit the environment to sequence break, and finish the game faster. It's also a very non-linear game, you aren't told what to do, or where to go, no hints or tips. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
Super Metroid is amazing, and the very core of what makes a Metroid game. Sure, Fusion and Zero Mission are technically superior in gameplay and design, but they both lack the charm of Super. Fusion loses points for being way more linear and dialogue heavy, and Zero Mission, while regaining some of the core mechanics of Super, like non-linearity and wall-jumping, it lacks the charm and subtlety of Super. I can't really explain it, but I also feel the controls are somewhat inferior. I also prefer the somber and less alive nature of Super.
Super Metroid is a pinnacle of game design, and a true masterpiece. I can't say it enough, but I really like this game.

Hey. I've been pretty inactive as of late. There's a reason for that.
I'm leaving MLP Forums. I've become disinterested in staying here and talking, posting discussions, and making new friends.
On top of that, and the increasing drama I see, e.g. "My opinion is better than yours", The increasing amount of "Why do people like this character" some members assuming every MLP fan has to conform to certain standards, the list goes on.
I'm also not going to pretend the staff are perfect, either. Far from it. I see why members like Ghostie, and some others left.
While I haven't had any run-ins with the staff, my point still stands. This is not the air we want to have for new members. They'll be turned off and go somewhere else.
I could stay and post in the two topics I follow, but the one is pretty much dead, so that's a no-go, and the other one is getting the same way.
Anyway, it's been a decent 2 years here, but I'm done, and I probably won't come back.
I'm not leaving the fandom, just this place.
    Good-bye.

Hey all. I have to say something. I feel I was a bit hasty with my farewell. I know this forum(and fandom)isn't perfect, but I think I can try and work to make it a good place. I've made a few friends here, and I'm happy for that.
Actually, I've gotten a bit bored away from here.
In short, I'm back, and I don't know if I'll leave again. I hope not.
I'll still be on World of Equestria, though.

So, I've seen some people say that Twilight should lose her alicorn/princess status, and I'm touching upon why that is a bad idea on many levels.
Disclaimer, I am not biased towards Twilight, and I was one of those "I'm OK with this" fans when she was given her wings. I am not saying her ascension was a good idea.

For those that say that Twilight should lose her wings and go back to being the same "Bookish Egghead Unicorn that she clearly still is, minus the Unicorn part",
let me tell you why that is a fucking TERRIBLE idea.
Twilicorn caused a pretty big shitstorm when it came around. Some people were on the fence, some people didn't care, supported it, a lot of people were pretty mad to say the least. There was plenty of drama in the weeks/months following. A lot of it has died down considerably since then, but some people are STILL mad over it. Now, Magical Mystery Cure wasn't done in the best possible way. It was rushed, and the execution of said alicornification was pretty sloppy to say the least. S4 had some development for Twily. And then the finale happened.
If her wings and crown were taken away, all of that character development, all of the fandom drama and "hurt" would have been for naught.
    Think of it like this;
A teenager keeps nagging his/her mother/father for something expensive. Like a phone, or a computer. The parent gets so frustrated with the kid because they keep nagging them, that they eventually give in just to stop the frustration. And what does the kid do? Gives away said thing or says, "Oh I don't want it anymore."
The parent gets extremely angry, which is not unjustified, because they went through all that nagging and drama for nothing.
That's pretty much the gist of what I'm talking about when I say that taking away Twilight's princess status and wings is a bad idea.
It's already in place, and even though it's been awhile since it happened, it would still be a bad idea, because the whole tirade would have been all for nothing.
Anyway, rant over, sorry for it being so long, or if it's already been touched upon, I've never seen anybody give a discussion on this.
Feel free to give your two cents.
(Would have this been better as a topic?)

Oh, hey, after a year and a half, I finally made a blog entry. I'm reviewing an old game from MS-DOS. That old as hell OS from the 90s.
    Classic Doom
Basically, I'm reviewing all of classic Doom, as they're all basically the same, so I feel I don't need to touch on the story. Demons invade, kill them all as Doomguy.

Ok, so here are my points:

    Gameplay:
The gameplay is excellent. The controls are a little slippery, which is particularly noticeable when standing on narrow platforms. If you turn too fast, you'll fall off. Only a minor nitpick, and not game-breaking. The gunplay is excellent. Mowing down enemies is extremely satisfying, and when you fire a gun, especially the shotgun, it sounds hard-hitting.
    9.5/10

    Sound:
The sound is excellent, as well. The music is very catchy and is based off of numerous grunge and rock titles.
    10/10

    Visuals:
It's a game from 1993, but for a game that old, it looks good. Even today, the visuals hold up in my opinion.
    8.5/10

    Difficulty:
The game never feels cheap. Enemies don't swarm up on you and you don't take craploads of damage unless you're playing the hardest difficulty, and if you are, the game even warns you.
    9.5/10

    Replay Value: 9/10

    Final Score: 9.5/10]

All in all, a great shooter with tons of fast paced, action packed fun. If you're an FPS enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Unless you're one of those, "CoD is best why would anyone play anything else"
Definitely a must-play if you love classics and enjoy FPS.

So, yeah my first blog entry. Sorry for any suckage, I'm new to this. What do you think? Informative enough? Needs work?

I guess an explanation is in order.
You may have noticed my sudden resurface in activity.
I have decided for the last time that I cannot simply leave this place and be done with it.
I have friends here that I simply can't abandon. You know who you are.
Not to mention I still can have some good discussion here, despite some of the issues I have here, and this is the first forum I called home.
I have been on and off lurking for the past 3 months because I felt sort of homesick.
Also, Scarlet's Web is a fantastic forum and I love the cozy feel of the community.
However I cannot deny this forum is great for prolonged discussion and the friends I've made here who want to stick around.
And I mean it when I say Celli is here to stay.
