  1. I adore Chopin. Beethoven is probably my favorite composer as well. What is your favorite of his works? Do you have a favorite symphony? I don't think any other composer can match him in terms of pure power.

Oh?... Perhaps Liszt hasn't come across your mind yet...

Here's Liszt's Dante sonata, just for an easy reference. derpy_emoticon1.png

Beethoven does have quite a lot of power too though... Same goes for most other composers heralding from the German school of music.

  2. As a musical classicist myself, I enjoy classical music a lot(, perhaps to the extent that it could be considered second nature to me). I especially love the music of Mozart and other Classical Era masters, like Joseph and Michael Haydn, Beethoven, Clementi and Salieri, just to name a few. I also love opera a lot, especially those by Mozart and the so-called 'bel canto' composers. (More of Rossini and Bellini though. Haven't listened to much Donizetti yet though. derpy_emoticon2.png And since 'bel canto' is more of a technique used in singing, there's technically no such thing as a 'bel canto' composer or opera, hence 'so-called'.) I also love quite a lot of music from Baroque and Romantic composers like Bach, Vivaldi, Strauss Jr., Chopin, Liszt, etc.

I also like the interpretations of performers like Maria Callas (soprano), Diana Damrau (soprano), Natalie Dessay (soprano), Dorothea Röschmann (soprano), Pavarotti (tenor), William Bennett (flautist), Rudolf Serkin (pianist). (This list is not exhaustive though.)

Glad to know that there're quite a number of classical music lovers here. ;)

  3. Personally, I don't believe in any superstitions. However, I do have a little of OCD...

When walking up stairs, my right foot has to reach the top first, and when walking down stairs, my left foot has to reach the bottom first. When having meals, I tend to leave the best (most favourite dishes) for the last. Order is also pretty important, I guess... (Can't think of others at the moment.  :derp:)

When I was younger, I used to have a compulsion to 'take my glasses off' before showering even though I had already taken them off.

Yup, that's the weird me.  :derp:

  4. At first, I thought Fluffle Puff was just Fluttershy with overgrown pink hair because of the similar colour scheme (eyes, hair colour and such), but then, as I watched more of the animations and comics, it somewhat became much cuter in my opinion. And hilarious too...  :derp:

And it's really interesting to see Fluffle Puff playing around with Chrysalis.  :muffins:

  5. It'll definitely be one by Mozart for me, since I'm a Mozartian here.  :derp:

But out of all his beautiful compositions, I feel that his Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C major, K. 299 is one of the most beautiful (and well-known) of his compositions. The second movement is exceptionally beautiful, in my opinion.

And what's even more surprising, was that the flute and harp were two of Mozart's most hated instruments (probably because of the tuning), and yet he wrote some of the finest and most beautiful music for them.

Now, presenting to you, Mozart's Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C major, K. 299...  :muffins:

(You may skip to 10:10 for the 2nd movement. :derp:)

Oh, and just some other beautiful music works:

    • Second movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467
    • Anything from Mozart's concerti in general... They're all so lovely  :muffins:
    • Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro' (The Marriage of Figaro), K. 492
    • 'Ah, lo sento' from Salieri's 'Europa riconosciuta' (Europa Recognised)
    • Quite a number of other classical music works.  :derp:

  6. Probable things I might be doing:

    1) Sleeping/Taking a nap.

    2) In school studying.

    3) Playing the piano.

    4) Taking a shower.

    5) Hanging out with friends/classmates.

    6) Having an outing, with my family perhaps...

    7) Sketching, but I might be doing it in front of my computer, so...  :derp:

    8) Composing, but sometimes I use some computer programs for help.

And just a note, this list is not exhaustive.  :derp:

  7. Two main programs I enjoy using:

    1) MuseScore: A free music scorewriter software. Easy to use and comparable (in terms of functionality) with famous programs like Finale and Sibelius. I usually use it for composing, apart from pen-and-paper.  :derp: And trust me, it's really good, if you're looking for a free music notation software.  :muffins:

    2) TweetDeck: Just for the usual Twitter stuff, though it does derp around a lot.  :derp:

Yeah, just gonna list these few. There might be some others though, I guess...  :derp:

  8. Being a semi-closet brony, I'm actually fine with closet bronies. They'd probably have some personal reasons as to why they won't want others to know about it. And they're still fans of the show, so there's not really much reason to consider them outside the brony fandom.

And it's alright if someone finds out I'm a brony. I just won't go around telling everyone publicly that I'm one, that's all.  :derp:

  9. Based on what I perceive myself to be... (And what I personally am, probably...)

~60% Fluttershy... Because I'm a shy and socially awkward introvert, usually outspoken or hiding behind people in a group despite being relatively friendly, I guess...  :yay: I find birds and small little animals cute too... :3

~30% Twilight... Because I'm really involved with studies and academic work, but I am not well-read at all.

~10% Derpy... Because... Derp.  :muffins: And yes, I'm sort of a klutz. ;P

And I think I've just found out that I'm an INFJ using the MBTI personality test, a ~50%S ~35%C person based on the DISC profile... So... Erm... Yeah...

Guess I'll just make my way out of here slowly, if it's alright...

    Heh...

  10. Definitely classical music, coming from a musical classicist like me. ;)

I love the music of Mozart and quite a number of composers. I especially love opera. <3

But I can't seem to appreciate much modern/20th-21st century music though. Not really suited for my music taste...  :derp:

  11. My average sleep time during a typical school day is ~2am local time, though there are a lot of times I stay up till 3 or 4...

And then, I wake up at around 6am...

There are times I even go without much sleep at all...

    It's a miracle I'm still alive...

And yes... Too much school stuff for me to handle... >.< Plus, I'm a very slow worker indeed...

    • If I remember correctly, I haven't walked into a wall before. I walked into a glass panel real hard though...
    • I walked in a certain direction, then started wondering where I'm headed to, before realising that I had walked in the wrong direction, then started changing direction.
    • Almost went down/up the escalator in the opposite direction.

Yup, I'm probably a klutz...  :derp:

  12. If singing with my falsetto voice like how an operatic soprano would sing with her normal voice is considered girly, that'll be it. And I like the colour pink too... Plus, my personality's kinda like Fluttershy's...

And yes, I'm male. A natural bass singer, in fact.  :derp:

  13. I've had ingrown fingernails and toenails quite a number of times before. It happens more frequently for my fingernails though.

And yes, it's pretty annoying, but I've gotten quite used to it...  :derp: Well, sort of...

Oh, and I usually get them out by myself, either with the aid of a pair of scissors or a nail-clipper...  :derp:

  14. My favourite pony's actually Derpy Hooves, followed by Rainbow Dash, who happens to be my favourite of the Mane 6.  :muffins: (Even though my personality matches Fluttershy the most.  ;) )

Among the secondary characters, I think I'll have go with Scootaloo...

And somehow I have a preference towards pegasi...

    Heh.  :derp:

  15. I'm currently using a Samsung Jet. Doesn't have a lot of functions like a typical smartphone does, but as for now, it satisfies my basic necessities of calling and texting, as well as listening to music, watching operas, or surfing the web.

And I probably won't be putting my phone company down here. I'm not an American, and I don't really like to give away my personal location so easily.  :derp:

Hope this is alright with you...

  16. A few years ago, I happened to see a few MLP:FiM pics/fanart scattered here and there on the web, but didn't pay much attention to it yet, actually...

Then, just nearing the end of the year two years ago, I was introduced to MLP:FiM by my younger sister, who's probably still in the targeted audience at that point in time. I became a little curious, then started watching a little. I just know that at that point in time, Season 2 was still airing though.  :derp: And apparently, I haven't dove into the brony fandom yet, for some reason.

Then, for the first half of last year, I happened to watch a little more, and started liking the show. (I finished watching all Season 1 and 2 Episodes some time in the middle of the year, actually. I still wasn't much into the fandom yet, just liking the show a little though.) On Facebook, I happened to take notice of a Derpy Hooves page, Rainbow Dash page and the local brony Facebook group as well, which, together with some searching up on my own, helped me to get to know about the brony fandom better.

Oh, and I discovered that I had a friend who was also a pony-liker then. (We just liked the show, but the both of us didn't consider ourselves bronies until much later. So, and we happened to be quite close in a certain ensemble group in our school, so we did engage in quite a few conversations.)

Then, in October 2011, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and become a brony. I created my OC (Maestro Nepenthes) then as well. However, I couldn't do much then, as it was just before my exam period started, and I was busy with exam preparations.

After my exams ended in early November 2012, I started joining the Twitterponies roleplaying group (even though I created the Twitter account in October that year), joined the local brony Facebook group proper (I was stalking it a little before I joined it, so I know quite a handful about the stuff there. It was an open group then, btw.  :derp: ) And anyway, I was just in time for Season 3. So, I did watch a few livestreams and early episode uploads. :3

And I happened to come across MLP Forums only two or three months back while searching the web. Turned out that one of my Twitterponies friends has an account here too.  :muffins:  But I only created an account earlier this month. I'm not sure why either.

So, here's the story of how I became a brony. Probably the first recount of mine on the web, but might not be the last.  :muffins:

Alright, that's probably enough from me. Heh.  :derp:
