on the topic of flightschool, if we have somepony here who is
better informed than me, i would be glad to hear an explanation
afaik you have to get yourself checked
at the doctor to be able to start flightschool. that seems logical to me,
the thing that bugs me is "vision" as of right now my eyes are just fine,
i got them checked. but the question is, what IF your vision gets worse?
when driving a car, its enough to wear glasses, i suppose the same would apply
to an aircraft? (unless somebody pilots a military aircraft i think? i really have not
the slightest idea
)
I think so long as you have 20/20 vision /corrected/, you should be fine with glasses. I was only able to pass my driver vision test with glasses. Unless you're going into the military, you should be fine.
Not sure about vision getting worse.

Quite a few disasters have happened lately: this downed 777; the drunk driver that wiped out a few people at SXSW; the collapsed building in New York; and now a landslide in Washington has an increasing death toll. Where are our miracles?
But yes, it is rather unfortunate that it's almost unanimous that nobody survived on that plane. Still, if a 747 can crash into a mountain and still have just 4 survivors out of about 500 (I'm referring to Japan Airlines 123), I'm sure the possibility of a few survivors is still likely, if we assume they're living off airline food...I mean...it's been over two weeks........yeah that's not likely at this point, is it? (assuming the plane crash landed into the water).
I'm certain the cause for the incident was a human factor, as we all suspect. Either the two men with stolen passports did something naughty (not, that kind of naughty), or the pilots had something devious planned.
Also, I'm not very fond of how the families of the victims (or I guess they are emotional victims) are reacting to Malaysia Airlines' lack of information: I even saw someone slap an official on the news, and are even calling them "murderers" for search delays....that's pretty selfish. Those delays are weather related, and having search crews go out there in those conditions might take another toll on their lives. Be patient and wait for the airline to give you the information; they're about as upset and confused as you are. It's probably not their fault...well, at least the people who are alive aren't at fault I would think. I don't recall the families of the AF447 victims going insane towards Air France when they didn't have the information, and it took 2 years after the wreck to find the black boxes. Enough of that rant. It's one of those "faith in humanity has been lost" moments.
Rest in peace, passengers of the MH370 flight.

No, it was for my anthropology class. It discussed the science of it a little bit, but also got metaphorical.

Indeed it was. I liked some of the analogies it provided me with.

Nah, I just finished my reading for tomorrow. The word penetration was used a lot in the passage, if you know what I mean.

At first, Sweetie Belle made me a little upset:
1.) She was late to tell Rarity of the upcoming show, thus forcing her big sister to work fast.
2.) Then she was unappreciative of Rarity since her dresses were perfect, thus stealing her thunder in the show, even though Rarity was already working her butt off, doing her best (you go Rarity!!).
3.) Then she became Diamond Tiara..a little.
But then Princess Luna happened and made the whole episode better. In the end I didn't despise Sweetie Belle at all, since she pretty much played a stereotypical little sister, jealous of her big sister getting all the "fame" and attention.

The downloads from both Flightsim and Avsim are free, FS2004 itself retails for $25 or less nowadays, and I'd say the controls are pretty much everything you need.
Here's a compilation of funny/awesome crap that's happened to me in FS2004 (lots of add-on traffic):
I hope no one on board is afraid of flying.
"If you can look behind us, you'll see a mating ritual of C-17s."
ZOMG WHERE DID YOU COME FROM???!!!
"They'll never find us here! We look just like one of them!"
So many questions left unanswered! (because I haven't asked them)
Are the other planes in the air other players (you did mention add-on traffic actually)?
Do you communicate with ATC?
Are the crashes "legit"? Can you collide with other aircraft (not that I would do it much)?
Can you fly almost any plane on FS2004 (sounds like a lot since there are lots of planes IRL)?
Can you determine the payload and amount of fuel you carry onboard?
Can you fly anywhere on the face of the Earth?

Yes, try flightsim.com (you will need an account), find this one:
This is how I prefer my MD-80s:
or
N915DE and N787NC (DC-9-50, now sadly retired) are two of my waifus IRL.
Is there a subscription you have to pay?
Also, how realistic are these flight simulators? As in, how many more controls are you in charge of?
-
The default MD-83 is AI only (with flyable conversion packs on Flightsim.com and Avsim.net), but I'd recommend SGA/Erick Cantu's MD-80 and DC-9 series if you're into those kind of aircraft, they're available on those same sites.
N700UW now first US Airways aircraft in the new livery.
I can't wait to see what A330s and Dash 8s look like in this.
1st quote: So I can basically fly this:
2nd quote: High quality photos make everything look better! Still, I don't like the "flight symbol" since it just looks like a - (backslash and hash). Way to go destroying one of the most iconic symbols of aviation. Also, if you rotate it left 90 degrees, it looks like a shark fin leaving a trail of blood behind. I'm not sure if I've said this before, but this would have worked out in the end:
-
I doubt that their MD-80s, 757s and 767-200s will ever see a drop of paint beyond what's on them right now.
The MD80s have 4 years to go; the domestic 757s need to be replaced by a321s first; and the 767 200s are done in under 2 months.
Meaning, a handful of MD80s and 757s will probably get the paint job.
-
Not by default, but I have an addon MD-80. Two actually, one by HJG and another by SGA. HJG is in TWA's last livery while SGA is in American's old livery.
American's old livery was great. I can't imagine how the MD80s will look with.. that.. *gurk*
But of course, stuff might look better in real life than in a photo or pic. Trust me.
I kind of like flying when I don't think too much, i mean your in a metal cylinder 20,000 or so hooves in the air and your just floating...
Makes me not want to fly.
Anyway whats the deal with no internet during the flight, its not like my phone is going to crash a plane. They even use flight navigation with items that use internet, whats the deal with that?
Actually, I know some airlines like American and Virgin do offer wifi on a fraction of their airplanes (I think Virgin might have it on all their planes). I noticed that before take off recently, they announced to put our phones on airplane mode as opposed to just turning them off. I hope this doesn't distract people from the safety instructions prior to take off. You'll never know when you need to know.

Flight Simulator 2004. I should try out FSX for reals one of these days now that I might finally have a PC that can run it.
Hmm, does FS2004 have the MD80? I'd like to fly one.

Flight simming? Oh boy do I love flight simming!
One time I flew an L-1011 out of... Pyongyang.
Why? Because.
What flight simulator is that?
There are many airports left unexplored to me in gefs.
