  1. I'm guessing it's one of those fanbrats from /mlp/ being a little prick as always?

I honestly those people because I accuse anyone that tried to do anything productive of "taking the show to seriously"

and that's why I hate /mlp/(and the things they did to that poor dudes plushie of his OC)

Adding because it screwed the qoute up in the first post.

Thread is still active, will PM you the rest if it goes anywhere interesting. <this post definitely isn't off topic  :muffins: >

  2. What did I just read up there on that time-stamped list and why can't I stop cringing?

m8, it's something nobody should ever have to see the entirety of.  :comeatus: Especially the screenshots.

  3. I think that analyzing the show is kind of silly and the fact that there's an entire subculture of review dedicated to this not fully thought-out TV show is kind of... well, also quite silly.

That being said, I do watch the reviewers. Why? Because I like to hear people's opinions, really. I'm always curious, no matter what it's about. And also out of boredom. Much of it is boredom.

But I like to hear them complain especially, because I think rage, criticisms, and complaints about things I don't care all that much about are entertaining. REAL rage, that is. Not that fake angry parody thing some reviewers try to do and end up not really hitting me in my humor spot. I'm sorry that sounds so crude, but it's the truth.

Honestly though, I'm pretty much not fond of most of them. Their attitudes tend to veer somewhat on the pretentious side (especially Digibrony) and they kind of give me this air of arrogance in the way they speak. If they're not arrogant and pretentious though, they often have to fill their reviews with these silly joke plots in a failed attempt to be funny. (to me, at least) I just want to hear the opinions! Do we have to go through this long intro and then a whole joke plot about how another reviewer crossed a different dimension into your Youtube channel? That's not a complaint exclusive to brony reviewers though.

    Crude language below kiddies, beware

  4. Also, I feel like anyone that doesn't shut up about S2-4 being "OMG TERRIBLE" is stupid. I know people have their opinions, but geez, there's no need to point out every single flaw in those seasons.

Yeah, let's not forget S1 was picture perfect flawless in every way.  :muffins:  :derp:

  5. Makes since, especially since some of them make you feel like you have to have their opinion

More often than not they have their head shoved pretty far up their arse. Easily ranks top tier most pretentious thing in this fandom. Not like I'm the only bloke who feels this way either.

  6. I'd say that the summer of 2012 was a really great time to be a Brony. That was the first year that the conventions really started getting big due to increased participation from show staffers (specifically voice actors). More media attention had been focused on the franchise on the heels of the "Canterlot Wedding" two-parter and Andrew WK declaring himself to be a Brony and subsequently appearing at Canterlot Gardens. Additionally, Hasbro began getting involved in advertising to the fandom (the sneak previews of "The Crystal Empire" were first played at a convention panel). It's also worth mentioning that all episodes were still available on YouTube at the time. Popular fan projects such as the .MOV series, the BronyCon documentary, and "Double Rainboom" were in full swing in terms of production around that time.

The series has been showing consistent year-after-year gains since then, but I really find that time to have been the definitive point when the Brony fandom really began to take off into popular culture and become as huge as it is today.

Somebody who was at BronyCon '12 here...as well as 7 more cons since. Nothing will ever top the sheer energy/atmosphere of that year. If you were to go to a single convention, that was it.

I confess I have a confession to make this time. I like this cartoon.

    Google Images + tags.

Water is for putting out the fire, but you can do exciting things with it like drinking.

Burn heal will treat your ears.

Yes, you're thinking way too hard.

& I'm outta here before zealous 18 year old moderators with nothing better to do show up. *disappears into the streets of Copenhagen*

  9. Suppose this is MLP related.

    • I think there's a disturbing number of posts in this thread that are extremely obsessive to the extent of being unhealthy and borderline creepy.
    • I don't care for fandom produced content.
    • Nor do I care for horse fame. More often than not they are boring and/or unextraordinary people who let it go to their heads. I figure nobody IRL gives them attention otherwise.
    • MLP analysis is one of the most pretentious things in this fandom. I'll form my own opinion on an episode, thanks. If you're going to ramble incessantly at least be original and creative about it to stand out from the droves of nobodies. See above regarding horse fame.
    • Writers are far more interesting than the voice actors at conventions. They create the world and characters. VAs are more entertaining to watch/listen to.
    • Too many people take a cartoon about tiny magical pastel colored talking horses way too seriously. There's more to life than horses guys.
    • With that said, Book Horse is still the same lovable horse I remember while getting into the show. Look forward to what they do with the dynamic in S5.

  10. It's a fun, silly cartoon about tiny magical pastel colored talking horses that supplements entertainment and socializing with my fellow nerds. Life always takes the reins first though. It's a part of it, not solely what it's all about.

  11. Attended Crystal Fair in Helsinki, Finland over the weekend.  :D

Tabitha St. Germain (voice actress for fabulous horse/moon horse/cake horse/German photo horse/Granny horse/derp horse/others) and Daniel Ingram (who composes all the songs & writes most of them) were there, so that ended up being a far better opportunity vs. BronyCon. 700~ bronies at Crystal Fair, 9000+ at LineCon BronyCon.

Because the con was small everybody had 30 seconds-a minute to talk to the Guests of Honor during signings. Didn't even have to pay a dime either for a change. The card is my BronyCon '12 exclusive that goes on eBay for $250-300 USD. Ruined its value by having my name put on it (at her suggestion to make it even more fabulous) but it's best as a memento of BronyCon. She will always be my favorite VA of the bunch. :D

  12. I cycle. 1,508 miles and counting over 20 days on the road, plus 'down days' where I'm just touring and not trying to reach anywhere in particular. I flew from Japan to the United Kingdom specifically to ride from the southwestern most point of England (Land's End) to the most northeastern of Scotland (John o' Groats), often called End to End or Coast to Coast. It took me two weeks with no prior training or long distance experience, which is the average time. I ferried to Belfast in Northern Ireland after doing some repairs on my bicycle (a 3 year old Trek T30 Navigator) and have been riding around the coast ever since.

I recently changed my plans; instead of riding entirely around Ireland I'm instead going to stop at the halfway point here in County Kerry to tour the Dingle Peninsula and cycle the 114 mile long Ring of Kerry. Both are things I really wanted to do in Ireland but I found myself out of time, needing soon to be back in London so I can fly to Crystal Fair Con and return to mainland Europe for my 2nd three month backpacking tour there. I could still make it back to Belfast, but it would mean skipping some of the most scenic parts of the island.

I carry a full kit, loaded in dual panniers (saddlebags) and a tent. It's quite a different experience cycling with a ton of weight, but it feels all more rewarding doing it entirely under one's own power. A tiny taste of the journey -

    Today in Ireland below

(I removed the other pannier so the bike would stay up in the sand)

I keep a log on my profile.

  13. What's the high like?

I've smoked a small dose once and it made me nauseous. I've been told that's pretty standard until you get used to it. It's more common to inject it for a much more intense experience.

Erowid has a lot of trip reports for a lot of drugs, so look around here.

Thank you for linking Erowid, it's hands down the best resource out there for homework on drugs and has helped prepare me in more ways than I could have hoped for.
  14. I do hope to meet many fans and some from this site, especially if there is a meetup planned.

There was one last year and there will be again, but the details haven't been ironed out yet. Separately, a crew will be getting together for drinks as well if you fancy that. I'll be at both myself, so I hope to see you too. ;)
