  1. That seems to be the general gist, yes - however, I get the impression that focusing on a couple of power types won't hinder your play that much. You'll be able to solve pretty much all problems by using cards that can alter your resources, that kind of stuff. Also, I'm editing the interview with Gail now, should have the episode up tomorrow sometime!
  2. Nice! I don't have a photo to hand (currently in the middle of a house move) but I have Joss Whedon's autograph, and it'll take pride of place in the new house. I was at Comic Con a couple of years ago lining up for the screening of some show (could've been Glee?) and was busting to use the facilities. My then fiance - we got married the day after Comic Con! - told me to go pee, so off I went and who was at the next urinal? Yeah... Of course, it's bad form to interrupt another gent during his... ummm... business. I finished up, washed my hands and went back to the line. And then Joss Whedon cut back in line a couple of people down from us. Seems he had mates holding his place in the queue, so I decided to take the chance, grabbed a Dollhouse promo card I happened to have on me and humbly asked for his scribble. We chatted for a few minutes and he was genuinely charming as all get out. And he'd washed his hands too. Good chap.
  3. Aisling, after speaking with Gail at EP, they should be rolling the game out in Europe (well, the UK at least) in early 2014. Like, *very* early.
  4. Sadly neither of those made their way across the pond - or if they did, it wasn't to huge applause, sadly enough. And I think I fall into the old gamers category, Macklin. I still cherish my first run HeroQuest
  5. It seems the starter decks are indeed in very short supply, but pretty much everything else is available. Curiouser and curiouser! Also, the game plays very differently to Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon or any other game you'd care to mention. I like the idea that there are parallel piles of problems to solve by playing your cards to them, and the addition of troublemakers gives players a lot to consider. Deckbuilding is going to be very important in competitive play! Now, how am I going to get a bunch of the cards over here...?
  6. Of course! I'm still waiting to see if I can get a developer interview too so we can cover a bit more of gameplay mechanisms but it'll certainly be available next week. I'll post a link up in here for sure.
  7. Shameless plug ahoy, as per the request of Aniki I run The Little Metal Dog Show (which lives at littlemetaldog.com), a site that reviews board and card games, as well as looking regularly at Kickstarters and occasionally interviewing folks in the gaming industry. There's also a terrifyingly popular podcast that goes by the same name which is totally focused on speaking to designers, players, scientists... anything as long as it's got to do with games!
  8. Well, I interviewed Gail from Enterplay last night (and she was lovely, it'll be an easy piece to edit!) and hopefully later I'll be able to get one of the developers too. Should have something for you guys to listen to by next week! Also, the game isn't that complicated from what I've seen. Certainly there's a fair few working parts that need to have an eye kept on them, and the deckbuilding element could be tricky, but I reckon anyone from eight and up could play the game using the basic starter set. There are a couple of videos up that explain the workings of the game - it certainly does things a bit differently to something like Magic: The Gathering, but it'll be easy enough to grasp once you've had a game or two under your belt.
  9. Thanks for your kind welcome, you guys! Now... how do I go about making a Little Metal Pony? Hmmm... better ask my wife to get drawing
  10. I'm interviewing the VP of Enterplay today for my show (terrible plug, sorry) and I hope to be getting the lead designer on the game too in the next day or so... hopefully we'll get some insight into the CCG and how they plan on running it over the next few years!
  11. Good afternoon / morning / evening to you all, wherever you may be! My name is Michael and yes, I am probably a brony. I suppose this is the best place to say such things I'm hanging around here primarily because of a love for the cartoon and the upcoming CCG. I run a site that reviews games and I also do an interviews based podcast that talks to folks in the board and card games industry, so the MLP-FIM-CCG is the perfect mix! Also, that is a LOT of initials. Anyway, thank you for your time, and I hope to be a useful member of the community! M
