  1. As a teen myself, teens can be fun, cool people. A lot of teens seem to have a ''You can't tell me what to do, mom!'' attitude, which I find quite cool or even sexy in some cases. Some teens though, can be really cringey, with their black emo hair and their piercings. I simply see teenagers as people, like you and me.

The whole, "You can't tell me what to do" attitude is an atrocious behavior. Though I'm sure we've all been guilty of it at least once in our lives, it's not an attitude I think one should find "cool" or "sexy."

It's an attitude of 100% disrespect and self-deception.

When I look at teenagers as a whole, this is exactly how I see them, because these types are the most loud, outspoken and obnoxious of each generation. Sadly, the well-tempered teens never get that much attention because they're not really 'newsworthy,' in that they live their lives peacefully and subtly, not trying to destroy the world.

As a soccer referee, I work with and officiate a lot of teenagers. Many of them are fine, but that's all based on what I see during the matches I ref.

I have some teen-aged Assistant Referees that show up early, know what they're doing, are attentive to the match and show they are personally invested in doing a good job.

Then I have some others that show up just before the game starts, missing their referee socks or patch, no watch, and are looking off in the distance or trying to sneak a peek at their phone at each dead ball.

You can tell which ones have been taught how to be disciplined and have good work ethic.

I plan to be a teacher within the next few years, but I really, really hope I don't have to teach at a high school for too long; I need to teach at a college if I plan to keep my sanity over the years...

  2. Essentially the whole class put their heads down and their thumbs up. 7 people then would push down 7 people's thumbs and walk up to the front of the class. Then the people who were selected had to guess who put their thumb down and if they did, they got to take that person's place.

Exactly how I played it in K-5! Boy, I don't think I've played it since then, but it was one of my favorite in-class games...17 years ago! haha

  3. Man. Seeing Rainbow Dash becoming a Wonderbolt made me tear up :sneer:

    I love SoarinDash though :orly:

I was giggling pretty loudly to myself throughout her impersonation sequence, but this one really got me laughing! A ship I can actually root for!

  4. What about MLP makes its fan base so prone to these desires to make it edgier/darker/mature/political?? :scots:

If you want a darker kids show, go watch Gargoyles from the 90's. That's a good kind of dark, with a great villain. :orly:

Go watch the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars or Rebels series. They're meant for older audiences, what with all the conspiracies and killing et cetera.  :proud:

Friendship is Magic has had some darker moments, but it's meant to be a wholesome show that parents can feel comfortable watching with their kids or just having their kids watch it and not worry about them being exposed to mature themes. This is what makes is such a great escape from the rest of television these days. :smug:

You want dark MLP? I imagine it wouldn't be hard to find and go read MLP-Game of Thrones crossover fanfics or something, but please, please, please leave the show the ray of sunshine that it is meant to be! :(

  5. She is pony, even when she is human. Never a cat!  :baconmane:

After bad stuff that already tortured my mind and sanity on this month, one of the 2 happiest things is going to be when I get my Sunny beanie (if she will arrive in May), I gonna cuddle the everlasting fur out of her whilst listening to this  :sunshower:

    But human-cat is possible!

    ...and..and Sunset Kitty!!

  6. But you are magnificent in ... . Why didn't you stay true to yourself you cute pony?  :(

If she stayed a pony, she would not have learned the magic of friendship and become the amazing hu-mare she is now!

  7. I just counted and I have over 550 pics and gifs saved in my MLP folder that have something to do with Sunny...

    Here's 7 that I don't remember seeing here recently and/or at all...

  9. Perhaps we should be focusing on our Shimmerbetes rather than hating on SciTwi...She was only as scientifically curious as pony Twilight ever was. Magic is a huge game-changer for those that have never experienced it. Sunny got angry with her because she was being sneaky about it and that secretive approach to it ended up endangering everyone. It's not like Twilight meant to do it. If the cast had found a way to get Twilight to open up to them about her research, they could have simply shown it to her.

    Time to lighten the mood:

  10. I read a good % of the series growing up. I only owned a few so I had to borrow the rest from the local library. This made it tricky to get the books in chronological order since my selection was always based on what was there each time I went. I am definitely going to that site!

    Side note:

When I first started reading, I had never seen the name Tobias before, so I mentally pronounced it Toe-bee-us. It wasn't until I saw an episode of the tv series and heard them say "Toe-by-ess" that I figured it out. I thought they were wrong, but then again, I later did the same thing with Hermione from Harry Potter (I was one of the many that referred to her as "Her-me-own" up until Rowling acknowledged this pronunciation error was so widespread that she incorporated the situation into Hermione's interaction with Hagrid's half-brother, Grawp in The Order of the Phoenix. Haha

  11. I honestly don't know what to say here...it seems that the first page is filled with the 5%...haha Is it even possible to have this many above avg in one forum (not on a scientific forum at least)??  ^_^

I decided to distrust all IQ tests you can find and take on the internet. There's no proctor to ensure that you're not googling answers or having multiple people work on the answers together etc.

Heck, it took me weeks to find a believable personality test!

All this said, I believe that I tend to have a pretty practical outlook on most situations when I compare myself to those around me. I usually tend to be correct on topics I devote at least some level of attention to.

I was a 4.0 student up through 5th grade, but then I started to hate homework. It all felt like busywork to me and my grades started dropping simply because I avoided doing the homework. I aced the tests on a regular basis. I forgot to bring a calculator to the ACT (Utah doesn't give the SAT) math section BOTH times I took it, but still scored higher than the majority of those who took it along with me. English was my strongest category though. This has continued into college.

I got a 98% (the class high) on a physics test on relativity after arriving to class not even knowing we had a test that day and not even having the textbook to read. Meanwhile, a number of other students were furious with me, stating they had spent 16 hours at the library leading up to the test and got ~85% (the class avg on that test).

All of this self-edification I suppose goes to show that I do believe I am naturally quite perceptive and intelligent, but I'm pretty sure I could be a total brainiac if I actually had the desire to put in the work. However, my love is sports, so my father's pissed that I chose to major in PE and not Software Development or Programming etc.

  12. Ramen noodles. XD

I've been having a huge craving for that lately. lol

:eww: That's disgusting! I gave up ramen noodles 4 years ago and haven't regretted it for a second! Nasty, nasty!

If I were to never need any other nutrients and this food magically supplied all my body needed...I would go with beef. (Though I'm guessing you mean a very specific meal, rather than what I'm hoping...haha) It comes in various cuts and styles... If not allowed more than one cut...I'd go with Top Sirloin steak. MMMMMM! :D

If I were to be realistic...I'd probably go with a Chicken Bacon Ranch sub sandwich.

    Gets me:

    Carbohydrates (bread)

    Protein (chicken, bacon)

    Vegetables (lettuce, onions)

    Fruit (pickles)

    Dairy (pepperjack cheese)

    Fats/Oils (Ranch Dressing)

    Nailed it!

    :orly:

  13. My favorite body part is the brain because it's a piece of meat that controls everything we do, say, think, etc. I think that's fascinating.

My answer is bias because I love psychology.

You realize the brain isn't actually a muscle, right?  :P

Just think how different our heads would look if it was! (Some people's heads would be massive and other's would be all flabby)! :D

With that, I'm actually majoring in physical education, but I'm minoring in psychology. It's amazing how much impact our mentality can have on our physical ability and social interactions! :fluttershy:

  14. 100% Omnivore. I strongly believe that being purely carnivorous or purely herbivorous can be detrimental to the average person's health. I've yet to personally know a true vegan that has looked remotely healthy to me, while eating only meat can leave one severely lacking in many essential nutrients. Humans have adapted over the years to have the means of eating both meat and plant-based foods, hence our various teeth.

I know there are people in the world that are unable to eat certain things for serious health reasons, like my roommate who is Celiac. Allergies are definitely worth concern, but thankfully, I have no food-related allergies.

Nothing beats a good sirloin, IMO, though pizza or a burger with sirloin on it comes pretty dang close!

I have always liked some fruits, especially bananas and grapes, but it wasn't until I lived in England that I started to gain an appreciation for vegetables. Sprouts and asparagus are actually amazing (when prepared properly)!

  15. I'd believe that the Mane 6 are in their late teens, somewhere between 17 and 20 now, given their mental age and maturity through the seasons. They started in the mid-teens.

As for why characters with mental ages in the teens can be in adult roles, consider that high school has never been depicted in Equestria, aside from the canonically dubious comics. Also consider the real world: high school in Western society didn't always exist. In the pre-industrial and early industrial era, teenagers learned trades and became apprentices. Only with the onset of mandatory schooling in the early 20th century did high school become a big part of our culture, and teenage culture in and of itself didn't distinguish itself from that of kids and adults until after WWII.

Young adults become independent at later ages with each passing generation for reasons such as social systems and economics. These days, it's pretty much unreasonable to expect an American young adult to leave his parents' house until he's about 25.

In this case, it's better to imagine Equestria as a pre-industrial society. Any suggestions that it's more advanced are merely for the writers' convenience.

There were two valley girls in "Putting Your Hoof Down", and interestingly enough, they share the adult pony model.

    sig-4479314.maxresdefault.jpg

You could say Big Mac isn't even that much older than Applejack here. He has a uniquely large build, similar to how Fluttershy was taller and skinnier as a foal.

True, True. Your analysis of Equestria being pre-industrial feels pretty spot-on to me.

I think the only way we'll see more than one "teen-looking" pony in action on screen will be if they decide to slowly age the CMCs and show that transition, seeing as there's a large difference in body structure between fillies and mares.

  16. Papa Murphy's does a 5 Meat Pizza-Stuffed Pizza that is the best one I have ever eaten.

    From their site:

    5-MEAT STUFFED™

Red Sauce, Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Bacon, topped with Ground Beef, Provolone, Cheddar

  17. So who's your favorite MLP character? If he/she wasn't in the poll, make sure to have a voice and post it in the comments below.

    sig-4475643.hqdefault.jpg

You should probably add an option for "Other" to the poll for those like me.

For me, it's all about Apple Fritter.

  18. hasbro is venturing out to both male and female demographic, as seen by the toyline. So how would making a gen 5 main cas with equal amount of boys and girl characters be FORCED?

It will be FORCED by the freaking fans trying to get it "equalized." You can't just up and change the mane cast for no reason besides perceived "gender inequality."

When they do, it usually ruins the entire premise. Look at what they did with the Hobbit as a film. They stretched it out (an entirely different conversation) and added a needlessly over-complicated love triangle because the screenwriters decided there needed to be a "strong" female in the story, where Tolkien had zero in his novel. Even as a "strong" female character, Tauriel was still made to be flirty and swoon at horrible genitalia references, which IMO, strongly diminished the character. She could have been fantastic, but they screwed up a character they created themselves.

MLP would need to go to the next generation and preferably relocate out of Ponyville if they wanted to have a "balanced" cast. Any major changes to the mane 6 would be forced. They could do a spin-off in another town and have a different cast, maybe with Sunset Shimmer...???)

They have plenty of locations to choose from that haven't been used much, if not at all in the television series:

    Las Pegasus

    Trottingham

    Baltimare

    Fillydelphia

    Hoofington

    Mustangia

    Whinnyapolis

    to name a few

  19. Thanks for this!  :D

I used to have a roommate that was obsessed with his computers and laptops. Heck, I'm obviously typing this on my laptop! I love my laptop! But I rarely use it to play games. Over the years, I've found I much more enjoy the feel of a good, comfortable controller (Xbox, Dreamcast, N64 are my favorites) and I can't stand trying to play most games with a mouse, but mostly because of the keyboard.

The only PC games that I've kept over the years are Roller Coaster Tycoon, and the Command and Conquer collection up to Yuri's Revenge. RTS games are great with a mouse and keyboard! However, trying to play one with an Xbox controller is a freaking nightmare (looking at you C&C RA3 and Halo Wars...)

    :wat: halo-wars-2.jpg

That roommate I mentioned was adamant that his version of Skyrim on PC was far superior to my 360 version because he downloaded a graphics mod that let him see detailed ants crawling along a stump while mine just looked like an afterthought. Frankly, I told him that that point literally held no sway over my opinion of the game because the gameplay, missions and weapon choices were not affected at all by any of his precious pixels. :toldya:
