  1. I first got into ponies in 2003-5 or so, but mostly stopped once I got "too old". My first pony was a cute, sparkly Daisy Jo from Mcdonalds, then I was hooked (Ponies > Barbies any day ). My baby cousin got me back in the game when she showed me an episode of FiM and I liked it a lot! Ponies 4 lyfe Old boy probably thinks that liking MLP is a fad, and that the cool kids have moved on by now. But that's not true! We love MLP not because it's "cool" to, but because it's great!
  2. Hm, okay. I was wondering if he had any other content that might get some other company mad over copyright. It's unfortunate that this happened, especially with no warning. This is a first for Google. They've let the power get to their heads now that Youtube is a functioning monopoly in the web video market. If only they actually followed US law (they don't, they've created some crazy arena where Google is executive, legislative and judiciary at the same time and us little guys always lose, and still have the gall to claim that they are only following the law).
  3. Anyone know the names of the horse-looking couple at the left of the royalty box? The brown and purple ones at the bottom left:
  4. http://www.youtube.com/user/DRWolf001 When I go to his page, I see that his account has been brought down for multiple copyright infringements. Weird, since YT just closed his account in one fell swoop. Maybe he got a bunch of flags all of a sudden at once? Did he only have MLP Friendship is Magic content on his channel?
  5. Yeah, I know a thing or two about it.
  6. That's amazing numbers for a 1st year con! Hope this con is here to stay.
  7. I just don't think she was the first pony or anything. Definitely the oldest living one though, except Discord perhaps if he counts as a pony.
  8. I've never heard of going from clean as a whistle straight to banned on Youtube just from copyright violations. Then again maybe I'm just an old timer, haven't been deep in the YT scene since 2009. As of now I'm more inclined to believe that Dr. Wolf got hacked, and maybe the hacker uploaded some explicit or offending video(s). ::edit:: Seems that this has nothing to do with Hasbro or copyright after all... I would relax, but now that means that there's no closure on what in Equestria did happen...
  9. Nah that's G3 lol. Way too sparkly to be anything before that.
  10. These points, I also wish would be different about Tumblr. Except the Anon thing, it's easy enough to disable and there are a few (underused) good uses for it (e.g. if you're running a drama blog, people will want to be able to blow the whistle without haters trying to silence them). I had to unfollow a few good artists because 90% of their "content" was reblogs, usually explicit cartoon drawings. Wish the 18+ blog marker would apply to individual posts as well, so that any reblogs would be blocked from showing up on my dashboard when I clearly say, I don't want to see 18+ material.
  11. The high amount of people racist against white people disturbs me greatly... It's almost as bad as Stormfront. But the site itself, is great. I love being able to edit my blog's design, and still being on a large hub of other blogs to make it easier to get known than getting my own hosting. I loathe the reblog system to this day though, why can't Tumblr just allow regular comments on blog entries?
  12. Ugh, I absolutely can't stand when people claim that it's impossible to be racist against white people. It firstly shows that the ppl who claim this are too small-minded to realize that the way things run in their country, is not the way things run everywhere. Secondly, it assumes that racism has to be institutionalized in order to be racism, which is 100% untrue. Racism can be institutionalized, but a non-white person hurting a white person just because of their race is still a racist hate crime. There are many, many places in this world where white people are systematically oppressed and have less privileges than others. Anyway, I came to say that I have been discriminated not for my race, but for the races that I choose to draw canon ponies in for humanizations. Strangely (not), people only have a problem when a pony is drawn as not Western European descended. There's also an auto assumption that I'm not white, and I've been personally called racial slurs over this. Interesting. Do Hispanics really look much different from white and Native Americans? I say this because iirc most Hispanics are mixed with those.
  13. Thank you, I know I'll love it here. Ahahaha not really actually, but I was thinking of her when I chose a username. My name picking process is always either the first thing that comes to mind, or a week+ long chirade where I think of a name, its meaning, its pronunciation, its uniqueness, etc... and that takes a lot of time! So this time, I just went with Nami. I hope I make friends here too! *hug* Hi Pink, I guess you're a fan of Pinkie Pie huh Thank you for your welcome! Hm got cheesecake? I shy away from normal cake. Thank you thank you thank you! Hey hawkflame! No I just had Nami and Loofy on the mind at the time when I made my name, so it stuck. I also love Rarity and Sweetie together. Siblings are forever.
  14. Very pretty, but RD is wearing the outdated style gym uniform.
  15. Yes, I saw the email, and it does seem that the volunteer did exaggerate the story to make us all look bad. I remember her story using language strongly implying that we all are creepy stalkers, instead of this man being a creepy stalker who happened to be an MLP fan, which I had an extreme issue with. If only I could know why so many people think of this fandom in particular as bad... Thank you for clearing up the other false details. I originally read those as yet another case of, "I didn't see it so it didn't happen". As in, I didn't see that guy get robbed, so there's no way it happened (even though I do not know every single thing that happened on that street at the time of the crime), faulty logic.
  16. Yes, what you just said, I understand and agree with. No one here ever said that the girl was in the wrong for anything, and I do agree that the SACAnime worker should have contacted BABSCon staff. It was the ponies saying that the story can't be true that bothered me. I was referring to the "must be a lying hater" conclusion that some jumped to when the story first broke, which serves to put the story down as just a lie not to be paid attention to. This is where the victim silencing (not blaming) I referred to comes in. I know that we as a whole face a lot of haters actively trying to shame us, trying to paint us all as bestiality lovers or with homophobic slurs or whatnot, and that seems to have made our community one in which we huddle together a little more closely and eye unsympathetic outsiders a bit more warily. We also are much more supporting of each other than other fandoms, for the most part. I want to call it a mild persecution complex, but not sure if that's an appropriate term. Anyway, I fear that that makes some ponies more wary of stories painting fellow fans in a negative light just because.
  17. I agree completely. Art need not be completely "original" to be considered tru art. If you put in some effort to make it, then it is art. I will say, however, that there are different tiers of art, depending on how long you spent thinking, drafting, creating. Meme generators are definitely art, but when people go hunting for art on the internet, they don't necessarily want to see art that they could have easily done themselves.
  18. Why automatically assume that this man had anything but malicious intentions? It's this kind of thinking that leads to ignoring and dismissing 100% inappropriate behavior on the part of our fellow ponies, often in order to put the victims in the hot seat instead. Apologies if I offended anypony, it's just that this reminds me of the Everfree NW fiasco on Tumblr a couple years back. Many ponies were right off the bat claiming that the stories were all lies to make the fandom look bad or to get attention, with no proof whatsoever that they were untrue or that the reporter had a history of lying or bad blood with MLP fans. Many of the stories turned out to be true, and the others definitely believable from what we've seen some fans do in the past. I'm all for assuming the best in a person until they prove themselves bad, but not when it means silencing and shaming the alleged victim.
  19. Thank you! That's what I get for drawing the wings after drawing the main body, lol... I'll try adding some show-style highlights. Eyes updated, shading added: Pinkie Pie only b/c I somehow deleted the one with Surprise colors: Eyes updated, shading added: Pinkie Pie only b/c I somehow deleted the one with Surprise colors:
  20. I think Luna is like her sister, a co-ruler of the entire land and still higher in authority than Cadence, Twilight, and "knighted" princesses. Luna has godlike powers like her sister, she can raise the moon, enter and manipulate ponies' dreams, and iirc transform into a creature even more powerful than Celestia (though whether she did that all on her own or had a little outside help is yet to be seen). So far, neither of the other princesses have been shown to do anything near that caliber. I think Luna is still a bit below her sis, though I'm not sure if it's always been that way or if it's part of the aftermath of the Nightmare Moon fiasco. In the first episode the two seemed to be equals before.
  21. Great job blending and changing values. My only thing is that the vase at the front blends into the desk behind it due to similar values without a hard border, like the shadow that I think should be along its edge.
  22. That is an amazing first attempt at digital art! Very nice work here. Hm names... Vinyl Rex and Yogurt Swirl?
  23. I consider this a serious concern, so I'm putting this here. I am noticing a lot of threads made by people who are seriously contemplating ending their own lives, and as proud as I am of them for reaching out for help, I feel that they should have easy access to professional help as well here on the forums. I don't think that making a sticky with some crucial links would hurt much, right? 24. I would like to volunteer as a tutor! I can teach Algebra I, Geometry, Japanese (beginner) and Spanish (beginner).
  25. I'd be afraid of it breaking into pieces x.x
