  1. Well, I very much like Timothy Hines' 2005 adaptation of H.G. Wells' The War Of The Worlds. Sure its effects aren't great but its a low budget, independent film so they didn't have access to any of the state of the art stuff. I really enjoyed the actors, especially Anthony Piana, who does a great job as the Journalist. The Martians in this version are really cool(right up there with the Martians seen in Jeff Wayne's musical version) and fairly accurate to Wells' novel. Jamie Hall's score just fits it perfectly, it has a very somber feel to it and also manages to nail a very menacing feeling as well.

Also, Hines managed to keep the book's original setting - Victorian era England, while every other adaptation of TWOTW changed the setting to fits the time it was made and usually switches the setting to America.

So all-in-all, Hines' take on H.G. Wells' War Of The Worlds is severely underrated and its very hard to get DVDs of it nowadays thanks to Spielberg throwing a fit and trying to keep DVDs of Hines' version from being imported.

  2. One that I cannot stand at all is God Of War, in concept the idea of a hack and slash that's based on Greek Mythology seems awesome, but GOW does it so poorly that nearly ruined Greek Myth for me...and considering that Greek Mythology means alot to me(being a pagan that worships two Greek deities certainly helps) it kind of came across as insulting.

Also, I don't think there will ever be a game character that I hate more than Kratos, they guy has no redeeming qualities, he blames everybody else for something that was his own damn fault and he's kind of the equivalent of a seven year old having a temper tantrum - now that's just making the Ancient Greeks look bad.

Also, its very inaccurate when it comes to the actual mythology, as in you have the Sirens who were mentioned as living on an island in the middle of the Aegean sea...but in God Of War they somehow end up in a desert with no explaination, how did they mess that up?!

  3. There are a few, but my first choice would most certainly be Zecora. Just something about being with a mare who has a sense of wisdom about her, plus I love her voice...and her eyes...and pretty much everything else about her.

My OC also shares these feelings.

*Hope blushes heavily as the zebra showed more of herself off,  but the unicorn soon regained his composure.* Why don't we dine first, Flowers and Snacks is not far from here and I'll pay for the meal.

*He nuzzled Zecora's cheek affectionately, almost like he had a schoolboy crush, it was odd for him as his mind was usually in the past and he was usually forlorn and anti-social. But this shamaness was bringing out feelings he didn't think he still had.*

(Mmmm, this is gonna give the resident poet a bit of a brush up course xD) (Lets hope this one follows grammatical and poetical conventions, ehh?)

Zecora blushes a little and nods, “A meal to share between us two/A night of memories on it’s debut. Lead the way, my shining knight/I’m afraid I’ve never seen this sight.” She briefly hugs you, before gesturing you to lead the way.

*Hope smiles and leads the zebra to the cafe and the stallion found it very hard to look straight ahead, as every moment he was tempted to get lost in Zecora's lovely turquoise eyes, but he knew there would be plenty of that later.

As they reached Flowers and Snacks and set down at a table. Hope was still nervous, and it showed. As a mare came up to take their orders, the young stallion exhaled slowly, calming himself.*

"I suppose I'll have a Romaine salad." He told the waitress, who then looked over to the Zebra. Hope glanced at her and that calmed him a bit.

  6. Another movie or a TV series would be great. Just give me more Sunset Shimmer. ( It should be noted though, that I only want a TV series if it doesn't slow down the production of regular MLP episodes. )

Unlike a lot of people though, I'm not really excited or see many good possibilities with this human world Twilight... just me.

    Awww, you're no fun. :fiery:

I'm sorry, its just that the first EG film almost ruined MLP for me just as I was starting to like it. Kind of hard to see it as anything other than a disappointment.

  7. I find your lack of awareness on classic horror movies disturbing.

Well, you do realize a film's portrayal of mythology or hell...anything is far from accurate.

Besides I find the use of Paganism on horror films(and shows, especially Supernatural) to be kind of offensive to me as a Pagan, don't get me wrong, I know its purely for entertainment, but it really rubs me the wrong way....that said, I still like to watch both versions of The Wicker Man because they're both laughably bad.

And I do happen to be a pretty big horror fanatic anyway. But not of the crappy "Paranormal Activity" kind.

In order to appease the gods, the Druid priests held fire rituals. Prisoners of war, criminals, the insane, animals... were... burned alive in baskets. By observing the way they died, the Druids believed they could see omens of the future. Two thousand years later, we've come no further. Samhain isn't evil spirits. It isn't goblins, ghosts or witches. It's the unconscious mind. We're all afraid of the dark inside ourselves. - Dr. Samuel Loomis

Shows how little research you bothered to do on that actual Sabbat. https://www.circlesanctuary.org/index.php/celebrating-the-seasons/celebrating-samhain

  9. Nah, I'm not getting "butthurt". It's just that, objectively speaking, it's not a trilogy.

But, call it whatever you want, and let's not get off-topic here.

By the way, I heard that there might be a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's. I personally would like to see more of the pizzeria, not just through the cameras.

Also, about the "new Bonnie Design" ummm...I don't think that's supposed to be Bonnie at all, it could just be a different character entirely who happens to be a rabbit.

Also, I will admit this now, I don't find the game itself scary, but I love the characters and concept, that's what made me a fan.

And when it comes to the characters....Foxy and Chica FTW(yes Bonnie is cool too, but that's a given)

  10. Grrrr, it is not a trilogy, stop calling it that.....

I'm not getting all butthurt when you call it a series, so why should you get butthurt just because I don't accept most of the games after 3?

  11. The Suffering wasn't meant to be subtle... not once. But what intrigued me is the work that came behind making each monster and the backstories it had.

Dead Space also had an interesting story and for the most part kept me going by the uncertainty of things that might happen next stop.

Maybe i will maybe i won't. No promises.

True, but the Silent Hill trilogy has just as much work behind everything, especially since everything is supposed to be symbolic.

Dead Space is pretty much what you get if "Alien" was remade today, a bland, unsubtle mess with nothing but cheap jumpscares. In other words, no better than the rubbish American remake of Ringu.

  12. Lol, I am pretty sure that Silent Hill was more than just a trilogy.

Please don't be like the Silent Hill hardcore fans who think that all the Silent Hill beyond the third one were bad, because even though they departed from the main series, they are still very good.

Well, the ones after the third certainly weren't great either(Homecoming and Book of Memories especially), besides, I think the third game wrapped everything up nicely, no need to continue it after that.

Are you going to say the mediocre film adaptations were good too(the first one pissed me off because they could have easily made it very good and the second almost killed the series for me.)

  13. THANK YOU! Seriously though guys if you think this is scary you are wrong. Try playing "The Suffering" or "Dead Space" real fear right there cause this shits more realistic. I find this game to be hilarious to be honest more than scary. I am being chased by gigantic metalic teddy bears? I can only find THIS funny.

I played both awhile back, I found The Suffering to be boring(its like its trying so hard to be psychologically frightening but somehow forgets the subtlety) and Dead Space was basically a very less scary version of Ridley Scott's Alien.

If you want games that are actually scary, play the  "Silent Hill" trilogy(preferably not the crap HD collection versions), the "Fatal Frame" series and "SCP Containment Breach".

  14.

Zecora smiles kindly at you, though it has a sly, knowing undertone. "A date with me is what you seek/I'm free most every day this week. Potions are a private craft... One wrong move could leave you daft. I know a clearing around the bend, if stargazing or supper is the current trend. If just the sight is helps your spirit soar, allow me to let you look at me more." She does a slow turn, grinning at you the entire time.

  15. (OOC: Figured now would be a good time to join.)

Zecora, I could not help but notice your enchanting voice and your beautiful eyes, may I join you in search for herbs in the Everfree and may I assist you in potion making, perhaps take you out stargazing or perhaps to a fine supper, for the very sight of you lifts my spirit.

  16. I think comparing Five Nights At Freddy's to Slender is a very inappropiate comparison, as Slender is not a scary game, if anything its boring.

A better comparison to FNAF would be to SCP Containment Breach, which does that style of gameplay much more effectively - to the point that it is scary, the same can be said for FNAF.

I haven't played FNAF, but it looks very interesting and I've taken an interest in some of the characters(namely Foxy and Chica).
