As for the people saying this probably isn't G5, keep in mind that the movie and show will just be made to promote whatever toy like they represent, and this may very well be that line. Hope I'm wrong.

If i made a software company, i would create a suite where each program has the best features of similar software and more. What would make this suite stand out is the integration and the ability to collaborate. Each software would work very well with third party software, and each would support all the most widely used file types.

This suite would exist for three reasons: 1. Existing software often have striking limitations. 2. Many of them have either weak or no compatibility. 3. Using all different software for certain tasks to get around their limitations is inconvenient and time consuming.

The suite would have a scriptwriting software, a storyboarding/animatic software, a 2d animation software, a raster graphics software, a 3d graphics software, a compositing/VFX software, an NLE, a scorewriter, and a DAW.

The scriptwriting software would compete with Final Draft, Fade In, Celtx, Movie Magic Screenwriter, and WriterDuet.

The storyboarding software would compete with Storyboard Pro, Toonz Story Planner, TVPaint, Photoshop, and Storyboarder.

The 2d animation software would compete with Animate/Flash, Toon Boom Harmony, TVPaint, Opentoonz, Moho, and the upcoming Animation Paper.

For illustration, the raster graphics software would compete with Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Corel Painter, Artrage, Krita, and Sketchbook Pro. For editing, it would compete with Photoshop, GIMP, Photoline, and Affinity Photo.

The 3d graphics software would compete with Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Cinema 4d, Houdini, Modo, and Lightware 3d.

The compositing software would compete with After Effects, Hitfilm, Nuke, Fusion, Flame, Natron, and Toon Boom's and Opentoonz's compositing and VFX tools.

The NLE would compete with Media Composer, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Vegas Pro, Davinci Resolve, Lightworks, and Hitfilm. It would compete with Davinci Resolve for color grading.

The scorewriter would compete with Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, and Musescore.

The DAW would compete with Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reaper, Sonar, Digital Performer, Studio One, Samplitube, Reason, and Audition.

Best thing about it is that the entire bundle would cost only $60, and with no subscription fee. It would be the perfect package who Pony animation creators.

It's not just McCarthy, it's also the lack of other writers like Larson and Rogers. Had they not given up on the show we would've see a lot more quality episodes.

And they're not even going to lift the ban on NSFW art that 90% of the Tumblr base has been WANTING to be brought back since they pulled that bullshit. They pretty much have given the entire Tumblr art community the middle finger.

Would still be nice if MLP became more than just that. I like action and adventure myself, but I also like stories that mix many other different genres as well.

What can be done is that a season of the second show would take place after a season of the first show, and vice versa.

Have you watched Princess Trixie Sparkle? A season of the second show would be something like that.

One story in a two-parter in the first show could be about one of the main characters being accused of a heinous crime and the rest of the gang have to investigate. Nothing two extraordinary compared to the second show.

First we know that G5 will premiere with a theatrical 3d film, then the TV series will move onto 2d. There have been talks that the show will be more adventure focused (kinda like shows like Steven Universe, Star vs the Forces of Evil, new Ducktales, etc) as opposed to G4's slice of life stories. However, I think G5 should have two separate TV shows.

The first show would be more slice of life based while the second show would be more adventure based. The first show would follow the same route as G4 with having an episodic structure while each season having its own different arc. The second show would have a more serialized structure, each season having the feel of a shonen anime arc, particularly Dragon Ball Z. First show would also have two-parters beginning and ending each season, but they would be lower stakes stories than in the second show. The second show would have each season having its own plot and villains. The "villains" in the first show would be similar to G4 antagonists like Flim Flam and Iron Will.

Essentially, the first show would be about building the characters while the second show would be about putting them in different situations.

I've been in the fandom since 2014 and since then ponies have been my escape. Lately I've seen many different creators who were part of it move on from it. I honestly can't fathom just leaving the fandom because I don't know what else will top it. To me this fandom is the epitome of creative expression on the internet. Do you think we're all just in a phase and will eventually quit the fandom at some point in the future?

Agreed. To me, what makes MLP so great is that it's a character driven show and not a plot driven show, which it could've been. You get better character development through SoL instead of adventure imo.

Do you think the show would've been as impactful if it was just an adventure show without the slice of stuff? I think the reason why the show is so loved is because it's use of character building with slice of life episodes.

The initial exposition song doesn't go into detail and it's brushed off whenever it's brought up again. The lack of an explanation makes the entire story feel contrived and makes me care less. It's a similar problem to The Crystal Empire. Also, I'm not a big fan of the two kids who look up to Rainbow Dash. They're not particularly charming and the schtick is something we've already seen before. 

Overall, I like this special. While the story feels kinda contrived and not every new character works, the down to earth charm and interesting characters make this an enjoyable time.

The special is a character study at best. I just don't think it warranted a full hour of runtime, it probably would've worked better as a two-parter for the show.

My god what a disappointment. This special would've been just fine as a regular episode. They should've done something way more exciting with that 60 minutes. When people said that the cancelled movie sequel was the basis for this special, they clearly lied. Hell, even the title was a lie, the "road trip" wasn't even central to the plot. No villain or real conflict or anything, so boring.

Where have you been? Almost all hand drawn animation these days are done one computer. Just because it's hand drawn doesn't mean it's on paper, there's a thing called drawing tablets you know.

Since G5 will be animated by Boulder Media using the Toon Boom Harmony software (just like Rainbow Road Trip), how would you like to see the show animated? Would you like it to be puppet rigged just like the movie and Rainbow Road Trip, or would you like it to hand drawn, Disney style? I'd personally like it to be hand drawn, but obviously puppet rigging is faster and more convenient for the animators.

How's the music going to be done? Will it use a live orchestra or will it be used with virtual instruments and sample libraries?

Just had another idea. On top of there being the rebooted version of FiM, there could also be a separate show alongside it, being inspired by the Guardians of Harmony toy line. GoH would basically be about high stakes adventures, while FiM would be about character building. Each season in GoH would have its own contained plot and villains, similar to the show 24's serialized structure. FiM's two-parters would still be more plot driven than the regular episodes (while still developing the relationships of the characters), but nothing world changing like GoH's seasons would be. Stories like Princess Trixie Sparkle would be equivalent of what GoH's seasons would be like. Character development would play a big part in GoH on just as much as action and conflict. A season of GoH would take place after the last season of FiM, and vice versa.

Also, the series premiere would be a 120 (at least) minute long film retelling the return of Nightmare Moon.

Let's say after the show ends, a "by bronies, for bronies" version of FiM would be made, starting the show from scratch. What kinds of things do you think such a show should have?

Me personally, while it would still keep the slice of life aspect, it could have more adventure stuff than the actual show. It could also do away with any kid's show tropes and act a bit more mature with its themes. There could be more Celestia and Luna episodes, as well as Equestria being explored more. Villains like Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, and King Sombra could have a lot more dept, as well as more new villains not introduced in the show. Also, Cadence could be a Pegasus instead of an alicorn and a different color besides pink, Twilight also being an alicorn at the end of the show.

This show has done a lot during its nine year run. Still, it's had its flaws throughout its existence. What different things do you think would've made the show better? Me personally, I think the show's world has been a bit too cutesy, and that some of the stories had been a tad bit too childish. Maybe there could've been some better creature designs (the Bugbear was absolutely ridiculous), and many of the songs could've been something other than pop music.

Hmm, sounds like a more accurate comparison. Same goes for GI Joe: A Real American Hero.

Back when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers came out back in the 90s, everyone went nuts over it. But after later Power Rangers shows came out, it became less and less popular by every passing year. Point is, it feels like that future MLP generations will have less fans than the last. Even though they'd have a dedicated (but niche) fandom, all the big creators in this fandom we know and love would more than likely have moved on to other fandoms and future fandoms won't have anywhere near as much creators. The thought of such a thing depresses me, but seems very likely, at least to me. What about you?

Granted, so far I've like episodes 1-2 and 4, and thought 3 was ok (if not random). But recently I've seen Moliminous's reviews of the episodes, and I think he makes good points.

All it did was make me think of the state of the show's writing quality. It's not often that people in the fandom acknowledge the flaws of the episodes and would just blindly praise it. It also makes me think that the episodes this season really are mediocre and we just don't realize it. What are your thoughts?
