I don't think I've seen a post as near cult like and defensive as this in a LONG time. Rather disturbing to look at honestly.
Starting from the first paragraph, She's talking about HER experience and opinion of the fandom. How would one not know would their own opinion is? She also didn't "leave the fandom." She's been a fan of the Broader My Little Pony Franchise nearly her whole life. Bronies have been around a fraction of the time the broader pony fandom has been. In terms of Seniority (not that I particularly care about that) she'd have the floor. I'm also noting you're going out of your way to point out that she's, ya know, a Lady, which I'm sure is completely unrelated to why you're so irritated here.
She pointed out that the toylines changed over the course of the shows run, and that the show itself had a lot of Brony injokes in it. That's far from "fake news" that's just what happened. The show did have a lot of brony injokes in it in later seasons, including Episode 100 which was one of the bigger instances of that. Now I enjoyed that personally more than she did, but it's perfectly fine for it not to be her tastes. I do not have such a loyalty to the show where any and all negative opinions towards an episode from a supposed "outsider" (again, been a pony fan longer than probably anyone here) who just so HAPPENS to be a "LADY" must be met with scorn.
I do recall something to that effect happening with Greg, and if she indeed do that when she was younger then yeah that was probably wrong. I'd definitely like to hear both sides on that whole thing now that a few years have gone by. I am quite a big fan of his Mentally advanced series and I do think it ended up being funnier than Friendship is Witchcraft. Consequently I know that Greg ALSO had a TON of misgivings towards the later seasons of the show much like Jenny had. In fact he was quite critical of the direction the show went and I'm not even sure he does pony stuff anymore. Far more critical than Jenny was in this video now that I think about it. Are you going to have a multi paragraph takedown of him leaving the fandom as well? Just curious.
She didn't rant "against" body pillows, she literally had one right there beside her. She finds the whole practice amusing. That's part of her whole sense of humor. Now she DID have a problem about depictions of Underage ponies on body pillows, and she did say that they should probably show more restraint with what they hang up when there ARE kids at the event. As you say they aren't the majority of people attending, but even if they're a tiny minority of attendees, kids are still there and the vendors should be mindful of that. That's the point she made and I honestly don't think that's an unreasonable one. As far as the sexual angle, I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle between yours and Jenny's opinions. Cause that's what these are, opinions. If anything she was EXCEEDINGLY generous with her treatment of this side of the fandom, cause I can point out far more damning stuff in this fandom than some silly body pillows.
This was not a tear down video, honestly I'm not sure how anyone could watch this and come out with that conclusion. If anything this was the most positive take in a pony doc I've seen. Certainly better than that De Lancie one which, like Jenny pointed out, made Bronies look like infantalized men who cannot function in broader society and learn life lessons from a childrens cartoon, and are also REALLY scared of being called gay. She doesn't like the more Toxic segments of the fandom of course, but she expressed having a lot of fun at the cons and enjoyed the memes and stuff like the "plush based clout culture." If she tore down anything it was Gatekeeping misogyny that was (and is) present in the fandom, but that's not an indictment as a fandom as a whole just the bad actors within it.
Also she's far from a random person. Her work is pretty baked into Early brony culture, hell you still see parodies and remixes of her songs even outside of the fandom and I still see stuff like Sweetie Bot every now and again. Ultimately, I didn't see anything in that video worth getting THAT defensive over.
