  1. I prefer to simply ignore the trolls, given that counter-trolling them would make me a hypocritical troll in the process. Furthermore, do such pathetic people really warrant one's attention, given that such people are reduced to cowering behind internet anonymity to say things that they would not otherwise dare to say to somepony's face solely for the purpose of diverting their attention away from their numerous problems in life? I seriously think that becoming a troll is indicative of hitting rock bottom.

  2. Actually, members of the Westboro Baptist Church face jail time if they contact the members of the deceased soldiers or go anywhere near the actual funerals.

I see. Nevertheless, their hate filled messages can still be seen by the bereaved at the funeral. Of course, I will reiterate that I disagree with WBC being able to spread such hatred, but at the same time, from a legal point of view, if they can get away with doing that, an internet troll targeted by such legislation could, in theory, easily file an appeal and get a favorable result. I don't see how anypony can expect such legislation to stand and go unchallenged.

I am also irritated by Asperger's Syndrome being used as a crutch, as it fuels negative stereotypes about people with Asperger's Syndrome (myself included). The autism spectrum is wide and has so many variations that it quite frankly is not fair to lump us all together in one group at times.

  3. I don't see how this would be enforced, given that a lot of seasoned trolls simply hide behind proxies and are difficult to track down. I would be in favor of publicizing the internet troll's personal information to those that live in his/her community so that this person can at the very least be ostracized, but I am not sure if throwing trolls in jail is the right way to go (unless it was proven that they caused severe psychological harm or caused somepony to commit suicide).

Furthermore, if Westboro Baptist Church is allowed to invade peoples' privacy and protest at funerals (I don't agree with this, but this is an established fact), I don't see how a law targeting internet trolling would stand up if one were to take this issue to court in an attempt to have such legislation overturned.

  4. I have always heard of these vehicles being referred to as "Mopeds" around here in the USA.

I drive a car myself, but I feel that people should use a Moped if they are thinking about it, as I have heard that as long as the engine displacement remains under 50 cc, one does not have to insure such a vehicle (liability insurance on cars and motorcycles is requried by law over here in the USA; such insurance is legalized extrortion). A car suits my needs well, but agian, one does not really win with a car financially speaking, as an older, worn vehicle will "nickel-dime" you to death on service needs and a newer car (as in my case) will kill you on payments, higher insurance premiums, and higher licensing fees (license tabs) for years to come. If one can get by with a Moped, one can easily save thousands of dollars by doing as such.

  5. I do, too. I don't even know the state of same-sex marriage in my state (aside from it not being legalized) and I honestly don't even want to know.

All I can say is that I know it won't ever be legalized, not until same-sex marriage is legalized federally. It makes me very sad, but I know I don't want to remain in this state or anywhere near the South anyway.

It's just sad that we even have to go through this process of progression. I suppose I just have to be happy that I wasn't born any earlier because it was far worse before.

It is unfortunate that we still have to deal with such things in the 21st Century. Same-sex marriage is not legal here in Minnesota, but I believe that it will be on the November ballot. I hope we can attain a victory here (although I am not holding my breath).

I firmly agree with you that same-sex marriage will need to be legalized on a federal level before we start getting somewhere.

Things were worse in the past, but at the same time, it is frustrating how short lived we humans are, as many years typically pass in history before a qualitative leap is produced. Hell, even a few decades is the mere blink of an eye historically speaking, but again, we just don't live that long. In some ways, it is better to be around now instead of being around a few decades ago, but at the same time, I fear that I will be old and gray by the time many of the problems of today's society are resolved (assuming they are resolved in my lifetime to begin with). I guess the fruits of a bettter society, assuming one comes about, will be largely enjoyed by future generations instead of ours. :(

  6. Also read this: http://www.marxists....ifesto/ch01.htm

This is pure Marxism, so don't take it all as what we believe, because I don't even agree with Marx on many issues. As Karl Marx himself said, "I am not a Marxist." By saying this, he meant that his ideas were subject to the change and interpretation by socialist thinkers as well as by the necessity of his ideas in future scenarios.

Actually, Marx's satement of "I am not a Marxist" pertains to Marx disagreeing with a particular trend that was deemed "Marxist":

Nor have you any other source, i.e. other than Malon at second hand, for your reiterated assertion that in France ‘Marxism’ suffers from a marked lack of esteem. Now what is known as ‘Marxism’ in France is, indeed, an altogether peculiar product — so much so that Marx once said to Lafargue: ‘Ce qu'il y a de certain c'est que moi, je ne suis pas Marxiste.’ [if anything is certain, it is that I myself am not a Marxist]

    http://www.marxists....rs/82_11_02.htm

While there are obvious differences between what Marx referred to and Stalinism, such a statement would be analogous to stating "if Stalin is considered to be a Marxist, then I am not a Marxist."

  7. I want in, requesting the title "People's Commissariat for Pony".

And now for a more serious question: What will immediately replace the Capitalist/Democratic modr of production?

Unfortunately, my hands and wrists continue to bother me, so I am forced to be brief and cite the fifth Chapter of Lenin's The State and Revolution, given that this chapter is relevant to this discussion.

Furthermore, I highly recommend reading Lenin's The State and Revolution in its entirety, given that it is a classical work on the Marxist theory of the state.

  8. Well, I was planning on hopping on seven proxies and trolling Stormfront. Anyone wanna join?

I honestly would not be surprised if some of the Tea Party reactionaries involved with the hacked site happened to be active posters on Stormfront.

  9. I am rather amused at how apologists of capitalism continue to raise the Stalinist straw man, as they must continually shift the debate away from genuine Marxism in order to make it look like they have a point when they don't.

It is also rather amusing that a lot of bourgeois arguments hurled against communism were in fact refuted in the rather basic Communist Manifesto.

I apologize for keeping things short, as I am cutting back on typing to rest my hands and wrists (I seem to be developing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome).

  10. Your last sentence made me laugh, hard. This is entirely true.

IQ tests only measure how well you handle verbal and math problems and completely omit other facets of your intelligence. Ergo, it doesn't entirely "define" your mental capacity as a whole. While one person may feel inferior to another because of comparing IQ scores, a good lesson to be learned from all this is that you all have different kinds of "smarts" that you can pick up on and maximize it to the best of your ability.

Indeed. I have encountered people that claim to have IQ's in the 160+ range according to the official tests, but these people come off as some of the least intelligent (in an overall sense) people I have ever encountered.

  11. If you trust online IQ tests to be even an approximation of your actual IQ, I have a bridge in Ponyville I would like to sell you.

Let us take a look at this interesting gem from that site's FAQ:

The test is not intended for professional use. The test is offered for personal entertainment purposes.

Even genuine IQ tests are a subject of controversy, and I honestly do not believe that they are reliable indicators of intelligence, so if those are unreliable, an internet one with a mere 38 questions will be even more unreliable.

  12. I have never used Facebook, and I never will use Facebook. I honestly think that Facebook is the most overrated thing to hit the internet, given that I can use old-fashioned email to keep in touch with people I do not see that often.

YouTube is full of stultiloquent comments, but I can find all sorts of music videos and other entertaining things at that site. I am a huge fan of Rucka Rucka Ali, although YouTube loves to delete his videos, so Rucka's Nuckas have to reupload them. Rucka Rucka Ali is not for those who loathe offensive humor, but to be fair, he is an "equal opportunity" offender and is not serious about what he sings.

  13. I had a definite interest in aviation when I was younger, and while I have developed other interests, I still do have some interest in aviation, primarily military helicopters (Mi-24 Hind, AH-64D Longbow Apache, Ka-50 Black Shark, UH-60 Black Hawk, etc.).

Last year, I was toying with the idea of training to become a helicopter pilot, but I realized that I would have to spend tens of thousands of dollars just for initial training, and most places will not hire anypony that does not have at least 1000 hours logged of flight time (I have heard a lot of people that get jobs as helicopter pilots got their experience flying helicopters in the military). Consequently, I concluded that it would not be worth that much just to get initial training that would probably not help me land a job; I have decided that I will try to return to college and learn a trade instead (this would be cheaper and more likely to land me a job).

  14. I am right handed, but I do not let my left hand sit idle (I often vacuum rugs left handed for some odd reason, spray down a table or counter with my left hand while using my right hand to wipe the counter or table, I lift weights every now and then, etc.).

  15. I typically wear a pony T-shirt and dark cargo pants when I am out in public, and I will wear running shoes or Reef sandals depending on what I am doing (I will wear sandals if I am just hanging out someplace or going to the store, and I will wear shoes if I am going on a walk, going to the gym, going to a shooting range, etc.) in warmer weather. When the weather gets cool during the later part of fall, I also wear a leather bomber jacket. During the coldest days of winter, I wear a Czech military surplus winter coat, long underwear, surplus wool socks, and US surplus "Mickey Mouse" boots.

I typically wear pajama pants and a t-shirt around my apartment. I also have a pair of footie pajamas with wolves on them that I wear during cooler weather.

I do not care for formal attire and I only dress nicely for rare occasions like weddings. In fact, I sometimes will go to the store or post office while wearing a pony T-shirt, pajama pants, and sandals.

I am rather open about being a brony, and it is now uncommon for me not to wear a pony T-shirt in public. :)

I have not gotten around to doing it, but I sometimes toy with the idea of getting some nail polish and painting my fingernails in a pony themed pattern (gender roles be damned). Maybe I should bite the bullet on this sometime soon.

  16. I think she is just being playful to be honest, given that she seems to like you and she isn't hitting you that hard. Unless she is making you utterly uncomfortable (tell her if she is) by doing this, I would be fine with it. But nonetheless, I honestly believe she wants to be your very special somepony. :)

Sweethearts sometimes playfully punch or spank each other, and as long as it is consensual horseplay, I think there is nothing wrong with it. ;)

  17. It is good to know that you are staying around, Nico. Hopefully things will continue to improve for you. I have been a moderator and admin at forums in years past, and it can be a time consuming and thankless task. Needless to say, moderation is not a task to which I would like to return, so I can understand your reason for stepping down.

  18. I honestly cannot take this conservative cretin seriously, given that he has the gall to accuse us of bad deeds when it is safe to bet that he wholeheartedly supports imperialist wars of aggression that have killed many people and further destabilized the Middle East, he does not want women to be equal to men, he does not like gays, lesbians, or bisexuals, he loves major corporations and wishes that workers in the USA would be put on Chinese wages, etc. Top this off with the obvious fact that this guy never did any sort of research, evident by his lack of using a G4 picture.

Reactionaries like the author of that article have a tendency to project their problems onto other people, so I am sure that he is the real man-child and such. It has already been pointed out, but I will reiterate that this heap of vomit must be rather insecure if he needs to constantly boast about his "manly" ways and such. This guy is a closet homosexual and he urgently needs to come out of the closet before he get busted like Ted Haggart did. ;)
