  1. Cort Lane & Jim Miller produced & directed this short about how "long imprisonment of terrible people is bad":

"The Trouble With Long Prison Terms"  -  Brave New Films

It is going to be interesting to see how much of his political ideas may influence the G5 series; given how without magic to "freeze" (or banish) unwanted ponies/creatures; the enforcement of the "racial segregation" aspects of the New Equestria may lead to overpopulation on Tartarus & the "reopening" of the Canterlot Mines...

I don't know if anyone has made this conclusion but,

I believe that most of the events in the EqG spin-off is occurring in 2013/4 with sunset's arrival possibly occurring in 2010, the same year that FiM aired for the first time.

So all the shorts, specials and movies are all occurring in 2013 and 2014 not in real time.

A common misunderstanding of the first movie is thinking that the "3 previous coronations" of Sunset Shimmer in C.H.S. correspond to the same event ( Fall Formal ); while it is clear  in the subtext that the "Spring Fling" is the "Last Spring Debacle" mentioned by Rarity near the end (also foreshadowed by Applejack using baloons earlier).

The "Mirror" opens once every 30 moons (so once every 2 and a half years).  The "humane" mane five were happy as freshman students. Sunset Shimmer was also likely a "nice & proper" student on her first year [she did not participated (or did not won) on the first Fall Formal]; only becoming "an evil Alpha Bitch" after two consecutive victories [ one Spring Fling & one Fall Formal ] when she had to sabotage Rarity´s circle of friends in order to prevent them from convincing most of the students to vote against her in her second "Spring Fling".

There are no reasons to believe that "Pedestria" (the world of C.H.S.) & "Equestria" run at different timescales.

Between the first EQG movie ( "Through The Mirror" ) & the second ( "Rainbow Rocks" ) only a few months had passed [this is also the entire duration of the "unfolding events" proper for Season 4 of FiM, since many of its filler episodes were "recycled" from scripts originally made for the batch going from S3E14 to S3E24].

A similar "timeskip" goes between EQG 2 & EQG3 (Friendship Games), as the time it took for the Sirens to "track down" the source of the Rainbow Blast of the first movie [using their "magic sense" (initially) and their hypnosis on random people (later) to get its location], is what Sci-Twi needed to pin down the stronger "magical signals" from the Dazzlings/Rainbooms battle with her equipment.

The EQG4 movie happened AT LEAST an entire month after the Friendship Games (given what Applejack said about being "waiting" for a non-magically compromised fun activity with her friends). Since Camp Everfree is open only in Summer, it means a bit less than a year had passed since EQG1, that was precisely at the begining of Autum ("Fall" Formal).

The "Mirror Magic" EQG special "syncs" with FiM by having Starlight Glimmer at Twilight´s Castle in Equestria bored (while the Mane Six go "on a cutiemap mission" without her); meaning it happened AFTER FiM_S6E12 "Spice Up Your Life" [when Princess Twilight & Starlight fixed the cutiemap]; but before she rescued them from Chrysalis in the Season 6 finale (given the "lessons" she learned in that special).

The "beach shorts" happened on that same late summer; including the "Forgotten Friendship" EQG Special. There is a posible connection between Celestia "unlocking" the Restricted Section of the Canterlot Library for Sunset & Princess Twilight; and the latter´s interest on reading obscure 1000+ year old texts in Old Ponish (that served for the plot of the Season 7 finale), likely around the end of Fall (on the side of "Pedestria").

The last known "proper" crossover is on the EQG Special "Spring Breakdown" (happening obviously in Spring), after a very long timeskip of many months [there was an Equestria Girls short with humane!Rarity having to deal with cold & snow].  Spring Breakdown is canonically after the MLP MOVIE 2017 (somewhere in between the "coldstart" of S8E01 and the rest of that episode), given that the School of Friendship was not built yet.

The FINAL Equestria Girls connection (debatable) was on the "Sunset´s Backstage" EQG special; when Princess Twilight mentioned that "recently"  the magical device that Sunset was looking for (timeloop) had dissapeared from its last known location in Equestria. The only logical reason for Twilight to get this information would be if she was checking out for OTHER artifacts stored in the same place; something she did just before S8E14 ("A Matter of Principals") as preparation for her "magic hunt" event [that was followed by a "winter" episode].

The S8 finale happened BEFORE the end of the (second?) "semester" of the School of Friendship. The S9 premiere was concurrent with the "summer recess" of the School of Friendship & in S9E06 it was shown that Fluttershy was the "Best Teacher" for more than a year.  Starlight & Trixie´s special "Equinox Cake Party" [S9E11] was likely for the event marking the begining of Autumn (equivalent to the "Fall Formal" in Pedestria).  The FiM Special "Best Gift Ever" is likely placed in the next winter, followed by S9E17 ("The Summer Sun Setback") at the end of the next Spring...

->  Princess Twilight´s actual coronation (sometime after the S9 "finale") may had happened at the same time than another "Fall Formal" in Pedestria.

. . . Twilight went into the Human World. Why the hell didn't she take samples of technology there?? . . .  so why didn't she take phones, computers, fridges, or anything that could help the world?

Who says she did not? -> She either "imported" or reverse_engineered a CO2 fire extinguiser to properly equip her "School of Friendship" against dragonfire accidents [something that likely was never even considered by other schools in Equestria].

On 1/20/2020 at 4:38 AM, Snow Moonlight said:

. . . Because on a logical basis, the plot doesn't make sense. Fridges are easy to make, and magic makes possibilities completely unlimited.

In the Season 8 finale, some cupcakes Pinkie brought for their journey to Tartarus got stale because all magic in Equestria was getting drained [S8E25].  The fact that she expected them to remain cold in her saddlebag implies it was enchanted to "keeping stuff cold" in it (as it would be more practical than enchanting every single piece of food).

If we take the hypothesis that magic can be turned into electricity, and so reject the hypothesis that in order to do the modern world, the ponies should ruin their land (because they wouldn't need oil, they have magic!).

They already use electricity for non-semiconductor devices (simple lights & heat generators for hot water/steam); ast they prefer the wireless "Tesla Coil" Electromagnetic Induction System for its transportation (this is why there are no "high voltage cables" going outside the hydroelectrical dam); something that is by force short_ranged [just a few kilometer radius of "service"] & also makes "radio" or any other long_range comunication system impossible [since the entire spectrum is already saturated with energy, the "noise level" will be as high as any "signal"].

I'd say 17. They still live with their parents, are still attending high school, we've seen a few of them driving, and a couple have jobs. Sounds a lot like 17 to me.

EXTREMELY LONG analysis ahead:  Click the spoiler to see it  (hiding it to not bloat the thread)

    Spoiler

Sci!Twi lives alone with Spike in the "guest house" that has both her room + laboratory on the first floor. Her parents must be rich, they have their own (bigger) house deeper in the same block. [ Sources: "MadTwience" & "Monday Blues" shorts ].

Rarity is in a similar situation, but she is not living near her parent´s home (just like her equestrian counterpart, she wants her independence). She is UBER rich (assuming gemstones/diamonds are as rare as they should be in a Land Without Magic).

Applejack lives with her family in the city (sans her parents, who are probably ALIVE and well, working 24/7 on the unseen "Farm" that BigMac goes offscreen regulary with his truck). [ Sources: "Get the Show on the Road" & other summertime shorts ]; also implied to exist from one the "dream sequences" of Friendship Through the Ages [all the assets likely to have being made in advance by DHX but never actually used on any of the later EQG movies/shorts & specials... blame HASBRO].

Pinkie Pie & Maud live together, but Maud is not enrolled on CHS (she is probably an undergraduate at some university on the nearby "Crystal City"); they are not sharing the house with anybody else & it is locate near the school [ Rainbow Rocks & Forgotten Friendship ].

There is no "actual data" about Fluttershy´s home. She likely does NOT live in Canterlot Town [rather she conmutes from someplace OTHER than "Crystal City"; likely somewhere "adjacent" to the urban area of CHS given that she has her own car]. She likely still lives with her parents & Zephyr Breeze (otherwise she would have tons of animals in her own house already, rather than having to carry them between the pet shop & CHS in her backpack).

Rainbow Dash lives alone at the outskirts of Canterlot Town (like Rarity, she wants freedom) given that she has her own motorcycle (from the times before she got her geod); currently using her superspeed powers instead by running back & forth everyday [ "Overpowered", "Monday Blues" & Running to Break Free" ].

It is clear that "Pedestria" (the world of CHS) has different rules & regulations than Earth [ they seem to be aware of the concept of "Magic" being something absolutely real, even if it is "rare" and/or "lost"  (like Greek Fire) ]; plus the way Principal Celestia allowed "newcomers" like Sunset Shimmer & Princess Twilight to "enroll" without the need of proper identification  & "certificates" (like whatever equivalent they have for "elementary school") sugest that their country is extemely "liberal" on matters about personal privacy & liberty of movement and education.

-> The use of Youtube by the CMC (EQG1) sugest that they are AT LEAST 13 years old. Something that pushes Applejack to ~18  & BigMac over 21 (necesary for him to drive a "bus" carrying people other than his own family).

When asking for driving lessons, Sunset knew that Rarity was 18 (the idea that Rarity never learned because she has her own driver 24/7 did not crossed her mind).

Pinkie Pie is likely 17 (a year younger than car driver Fluttershy with 18), she works & goes to classes near her house (she has no vehicle); this is also why she suddendly proposed the entire group to have a "surprise slumber party" [they were close & she does not have to ask for permission to anybody (Maud is likely "the adult in charge", but she does not care) plus Pinkie controls what goes to the fridge ( whipped cream ) & likely has pizza on speed dial ].

Rainbow Dash & Sci!Twi are the two younger girls of the group (unless Dash had to repeat a year...). Neither of them has a car ( yet Sci!Twi is rich enough to have one if she could drive ); both were likely 16 by EQG1; probably 17 by the time of "Spring Brakedown".

Sunset Shimmer is actually over 30. But the portal is using all the teenagers it can "see" on its direct line of sight (basically right on the main entrance to CHS) as the "standard model" to base the transformation for anypony coming from Equestria. The same is probably the case for Starlight Glimmer [Mirror Magic], and maybe even Princess Celestia [ "Sunset Backstage" shorts ]; all of them getting a teenager human body.

-> It is implied that the adults (BigMac included) working on Canterlot Highschool usually get into the building from the "Faculty Lot of Power" (cars), that is located on the other side (relative to the statue). Spike The Dragon likely got the "dog" treatment because of his smaller size was about the same that of the blue dog one of the students was walking precisely when they arrived for the first time [EQG1].

Spike The Regular Dog was at least 6 months old by the time of Friendship Games; given that by EQG1 (Fall Formal) Pinkie Pie already knew Sci!Twi from one of her travels to "The City", and likely hear her calling him (by then a small puppy) by his name (but Pinkie did not knew the name "Twilight"), meaning that Sci!Twi was walking her dog Spike at some point after the "Spring Fling" when Sunset Shimmer "backstabbed" Rarity (lets assume it happened that same month).

-> In Friendship Games, a substantial ammount of Fluttershy´s magic passed through Spike The Dog (while it was getting extracted by Sci!Twi´s device);  with him absorbing her ability to "speak with animals" in reverse [getting the inteligence & sapience needed to speak human language]; alongside with other of her human/pony hybrid biological attributes (he now has a similar lifespan than her & can now digest the same stuff than she could, plus his original canine abilities).

What do you mean by that? Ending up in the universe of that show and replacing said character or something else? If replacing a character would I have to act the same way she normally does or not?

    You raise a good point...

In my case, I would have to quickly learn everything I do not know about Sunset... something that may be easy to do if I can use her geod´s power [but it also means I would have to be VERY CAREFULL until I got enough knowledge about how every other person/pony thinks about her].

Given that her geod "dissapears" when Sunset goes to Equestria, it may mean using its power is not a posibility while on pony land [so I would had to find a good reason/excuse to bring Twilight, Spike The Dragon & Starlight to Pedestria (CHS); to "scan" their memories].

Celestia would be really hard to get out of Equestria... unless I manage to convince her to take "vacations" [assuming she is not "retired" already when I replace Sunset].

-> Getting Celestia´s memories would be really important to get: If I ever have the need I could use the "excuse" that my own memories got "shuffled" by the Memory Stone (but I kept it hidden or did not noticed & now it is getting worse because of ~reasons~ ), knowing about the past of Sunset BEFORE she got out of Equestria could be the only way to "convince" them that I am the real one.

I honestly love how chill Twilight was being about the whole time loop thing despite the fact she'd just be reset the next day and not remember it.

Both Twilights SHOULD be desperate to find a way to prevent ANY timeloop from happening. But not for the reasons most people think...

From the point of view of (any) Twilight:

    a) If there is only 1 timeline (the device just "add" an entire day for a few people every time):

-> Then Sunset (plus who know how many others) would eventually get perverted & brave enough to perform all types of experiments with her body/mind, over & over [until she/they know everything about her, even more than herself ever could]. Even if the timeloop stops, she would be completely exposed to their manipulation (no chance for her to overcome whatever may be done to her "for realz" this last time).

    b)  If there is a multiverse (the device moves Sunset & others to the past of another reality): Then there is a chance that she would NEVER see again her friend Sunset Shimmer (or any other "doppleganger Sunset" from another world ).

-> This is the MOST SERIOUS risk [specially since it is likely canon from "The Cutie Remark" implied timetravel mechanisms & Starlight´s "half-explanation" of it back in the S7 finale ]; since nothing guarantees the events of the "next world" would lead to their Sunset Shimmer to enter into the past of this one (replacing the one from this that is going to another world´s past).

It gets even crazier if you throw in the comics. Apparently the Sirens were banished away by Star Swirl 1000 years prior, but arrived in the human world present day. The show doesn't directly correlate but by what we can observe, the sirens don't act like they've been on earth 1000 years either.

Considering that the pony 6 are all teachers, diplomats and state sponsored militia on top of having careers of their own while HuMane 6 are all teens in high school, I'd say yeah, time does move slower.

Ideas & Design Works (IDW) never had "access" to the "Bible of the Show" of either FiM or the Equestria Girls Franchises [they do not even had a SINGLE writter who ever worked at Decode HalifaX Media (DHX) ].

-> THE COMICS ARE NOT CANON.

Recently, something bothered me about the Equestria Girls universe. It's the timeline and how it connects, or not connect with Equestria's timeline.

Back in EG1, there were pictures of Sunset Shimmer winning the Fall Formal for 3 years in a row! . . .

First mistake: Assuming things (there is only 1 "crowning event" per year).

Second mistake  Not paying attention:  The "Last Spring Debacle" Rarity referenced at the end of EQG1 is the same "Spring Fling" event Fluttershy mentioned at the cafeteria while talking about the same "girl" [RARITY] that Applejack also described as being "backstabbed" by Sunset Shimmer previously on that SAME YEAR ].

-> The First & Third pictures of Sunset Shimmer at Principal Celestia´s office corresponds to the "Spring Fling" events on the previous and current year; with only the second one being the previous Fall Formal (happening about 1 year before EQG1).

Third mistake: Princess Luna already told us when was the LAST POSIBLE TIME Sunset Shimmer could had left Equestria (or came back as Princess Celestia hoped): 30 Moon cycles ago (~2 and a half years) before the ~few weeks~ that passed after S3E13 (that is also less than a month from S4E01);  almost ONE FULL YEAR since the pilot of the series: S1E01 (The Summer Sun Celebration).

-> This is rather UNLIKELY since Twilight was a "little filly" (younger than the CMC) when she got her cutiemark [ Sunset Shimmer left Equestria BEFORE Twilight got it, since they never met each others ]; so it is more likely that it happened on a 60 Moon/months (~5 years) timeframe; as this would allow Sunset to begin classes at Canterlot Highschool at ~whatever grade the human CMC currently are~ [also the "chibi" forms of the humane five on that old, dusty anual school book on EQG1 finally make sense].

4th:  It is "Fall (formal)" on Earth, yet almost the begining of Summer in Equestria (maybe the ammount of days for each year is DIFFERENT between Earth & Equestria?); in any case, the "seasonal seasons" of the planets are NOT in sync [but the flow of time it is the same].

5th:  Wallflower Blush said that she met Sunset Shimmer "in ninth-grade English" (meaning that they could have being on different schedules or parallel classes on previous years); but also that she met Trixie "since third grade" (period); but not necesary at CHS (perhaps in some other elementary school in "The Town" ? ).

6th:  Applejack knows that Rarity´s dream of being a clothes designer dates back to... kindergarden. (from that Rarijack EQG special)

The point is that free education is covered on Earth for youngins.

    Conclusions:

Sunset Shimmer real age is ~30 years old (same as Maud, Starlight or Sunburst).

The "portal" only translates "species" between planets (but does not compute "ages"); so it is currently using the "median shape" from what it can "see" from its position (facing to the entrance of a Highschool full of teenagers). For the case of Spike, it likely used that other dog seen on EQG1 (just after they arrived for the first time) as a model.

-> The last EQG special has a "suspiciously young" Princess Celestia lookalike...

Now for the bigger issue: Twilight's first visit to the human world was ... and 4 Hearth's Warmings went by since then, so that's another 4 years in Equestria time!  ...

    Either:

    a) FiM is showing events from MULTIPLE timelines of Equestria (something that is canon to exist and be real since S5E25)

    b) SOME of the Hearth Warming Eve celebrations happened in the distant future and/or at the same time (it requires minor retcons on some visual details, like Twilight´s wings/castle, the CMC cutiemarks, or Spike´s wings).

So here's my theory on this: time in the human world moves MUCH SLOWER than time in Equestria. The two worlds aren't connected like that. So you can think that after Twilight and Spike went into the human world the first time, they came back much much much longer than we thought! Either that, or a few minutes went by. Time's really confusing, and especially when it comes to the multiverse theory.

I know the devs never thought this through, but it can be quite an annoying subject for people who overthink! ;) Luckily this isn't that important of a subject to tackle. But it's fun to think about! Fanfic writers, your go! :3

. (Main, Prime, "canon") Equestria & CHS timelines are always in sync:

    [ S4E01 = EQG1 ; S5E01 = EQG2:RR ; S5E26 = EQG3:FG ... ]

    [ ... ; S6E12 (Twilight&Midnight "in mirror" at Twilight´s Castle) = EQG4:LoE ; S6E21 (Starlight´s Test) = EQG4+(3/3):MiMa ... ]

    [ ... ; S7E20~24 (Libraries+Pilars+Clover) = EQG4+2:FF ;  S8E01 (coldstart+movie) = EQG4+4:SB ... ]

BUT ! ! -> The TITLE of this thread includes "The Military" (implicitly also opening the way for other third parties too):

. Wallflower with the Memory Stone [you could also include "The Sorceress" Clover was chasing (or descendants)].

. The pony who brought the timeloop device from Equestria (before losing it and/or dying at that water stream).

. Any plausible "random Equestrian Magic Burst" giving someone a "boost" from "local background human" to hero/ine.

. A (Secret) Society or Goverment_funded Organization with access to restricted magical devices [akind to the S.C.P. Foundation]; that would change from "in the shadows" to "counter-attack" once all previous ones PLUS the (normal) Military fail.

    • Sombra (With mind controlled forces from both Cutie Remark and Beginning of the end)

    • Chrysalis (with pre-thorax changelings)

    • Tirek

Both in situations where they either invade the human world individually or work together as the legion of Doom.

    And also in two situations:

    In the following situations:

    • They know that they will lose their powers in the human world and Each of the Villains transfer their powers to magical artifacts before entering.
    • They enter the portal completely unprepared.

how far will they get if they worked together and who would stop them first? The Sunset Shimmer and the Human Mane 6 or the Military?

    NOTES:   [for my future posts]

. (Main, Prime, "canon") Equestria & CHS timelines are always in sync:

    [ S4E01 = EQG1 ; S5E01 = EQG2:RR ; S5E26 = EQG3:FG ... ]  <-  The "foundational level" ( no villains here )

    [ ... ; S6E12 (Twilight&Midnight "in mirror" at Twilight´s Castle) = EQG4:LoE ; S6E21 (Starlight´s Test) = EQG4+(3/3):MiMa ... ]

    [ ... ; S7E20~24 (Libraries+Pilars+Clover) = EQG4+2:FF ;  S8E01 (coldstart+movie) = EQG4+4:SB ... ]

    [ ... ; S8E14 (Rare Artifacts) = EQG4+5:SBP ]

.  There were severe limitations on what the "humane 6/7 could do" at each point of time (in magical & practical terms):

RR = FG < LoE = FF =/= SB  (the acquisition of the geods was a "big powerup" ; yet "doubling up" the entry points between worlds changes the paradigm on planetary defense ).

.  Not all villains can be used in the same way at any points of time. ex:(Chrysalis) "As a Changeling Queen" simply does NOT work by the time of "Forgotten Friendship". Inserting her just before of it enables the [unexpected by everyone] "Memory Manipulation" third party (Wallflower of the ~Resistance~!); while placing her (with her changeling army) after "Spring Breakdown" opens up the "Quicksand Portal" of the island for either/both sides going to/from Equestria...

To avoid this kinds of complications:

->  All "invasions" will happen sometime after EQG4:LoE  (to be more specific: After the HuMane 7 discovered how to "superpower_up" their geods in that "Rainbow Dash abuses her power" short); but BEFORE Sunset makes "peace" with Princess Celestia & unlocks the secrets of the "Underground Canterlot Library".

This is to give the HM7 a (much necesary) "edge" combat/defense while in their own world [specially if they get separated]; while still not opening up to the unnecesary complications created after the 2017 Movie [ the Staff of Sacanas is too OP for the good guys to have it ], and keeping all of them having to deal with the temporary "transformation adaptation debuff" if they have to do an "emergency jump" through the portal to Equestria.

->  I will be using the "Invaders From Infinite Equestrias" plot device (some villains are coming from the other timelines Starlight made at EQG3; "connected" to CHS via the Dimensional Rifts Midnight Sparkle created) as an excuse as to HOW they could exist in some cases (at different, non-chronologically-compatible powerlevels).

Sunset Shimmer finally returns to Equestria for life and permanently decommissions the mirror portal to ensure that the human world is forever safe from Equestrian magic.

What about the "quicksand portal" in that island?

What about ~whatever~ made the ~timeloop_eye_thingy~ end up in a river of the CHS world?

Even if Sunset took the Staff of Sacannas and traveled the entire World; raising it up on "every horizon" to drain random magic (asuming the staff will do it anyways even if she can not even see it or being aware of its existence); there is no guarantee it will work with EVERYTHING [even if it did, magic stuff could be moving at the same time she does, meaning she may "miss" something].

Finally, she can not put "walls" in between the CHS world and Equestria (to prevent Equestrian magicians from "dumping" their trash in it); plus it would likely only mean it would be sent to another world [ maybe the G5? ].

    Nope.

Sunset Shimmer (and her amazing group of friends) will start a (not-so) SECRET SOCIETY (like the CMC) to keep constant vigilance over magical and inter-dimensional activities on their world [worst case scenario, they end up making an S.C.P. Foundation ].

  11. The reason why moving the Equestrian Sun is "harder" is because of the distance.

Telekinesis strenght seems to "falloff" the same as any other force (farther objects require a higher energy output), plus the "feedback" of information on the applied surface [a facsimile of the tactile sense] will become more weak [akin to the "tower reception" of a cellphone], meaning an increased concentration to "pick up" the data and correct errors may also be needed on long distances.

The Equestrian Sun is likely to be much farther away than the minimum "+1 equestian lunar radius"; but at the same time both objects could be MUCH CLOSER (while being both much smaller), than the distance from Earth´s Moon to Earth.

The "absolute minimum" distance for the Equestrian Moon is the level of the outer atmosphere of Equestria [above to where the friction would become strong enough to both alterate its surface and produce shockwaves if moved at the speeds observed on S4E26]; but then we also had to take into account the "Paralax Problem" it could cause between cities on the surface of Equestria far away from each others [regardless if the PLANET of Equestria is a sphere (likely) or a plane, the "Nation" (observed "from space" in S4E26) represents only a fraction of its surface].

-> From Yakyakistan to Mt Aris, the Equestrian Sun does not seem to be too close to the horizon.

If they do it properly they Premiere will open with Sombra back with unanswered questions as to how he returned. Then later standalone episodes with Chrysalis and Tirek/Cozy respectively. The finale could be the alliance of all the villain characters with the reveal that Grogar is behind it (and was the reason Sombra was resurrected if they keep the necromancy connection).

At this point I’m interested in how they play Sombra since he really hasn’t been given much dialogue in his past appearances. Is Sombra connected to Grogar somehow? They could really play this really well.

Sombra was based on Sauron (from "The Lord of The Rings").

Sauron was the chief lieutenant of the first Dark Lord, Morgoth.

    Hence, Grogar is Morgoth.

    It all checks out!

I'll start the chant: DEER FOR GEN 5!

. "Nine worlds plus a HUB". ( baseline Yggdrasil System )

     (3) "One for each pony kind"  ; (1) "Another for the dragons"

So why not one of the remaining 5 for Deer? -> Or maybe a Moon? xD

The show should end as it began, Twilight reading from a story book.

THIS IS UNLIKELY (at least as for the end of MLP:FiM_S9E26).

Equestria Girls is still an "active franchise" that would need from "Pony Crossovers" (to and/or from Equestria) from time to time.

-> Any kind of "book end" (or a long timeskip/epilogue) would either represent a "chronological barrier" from where EQG could never show its future; or [if ignored] will undermine any type of "high stakes" on stories (since we will know for sure & beforehand, that everything eventually resolved good & well).

Can't imagine Rarity using the floor when her fainting couch is right there :)

    Precisely.

She is not "resting", but rather dropping dead in an instant [no time to telekinetically summon anything].

I was talking about the EQG turning into ponies.

What was shown at the SDCC 2018 ( Equestria Girls 'Spring break' Special ) only confirms Sunset, Sci-Twi and the humane!Rainbow going to Equestria.

Well, with the 'gem/bits' theory you're forgetting something about the portal, it converts EVERYTHING that is entered into it to the other versions equivillent.

I mean Saddle bags turn into Backpacks, Dragons turn into dogs, Books turn into... well apparently books :P

So it IS possible the bits turn into the currency of their world... so you never know.

However, I feel like it's really something they'll just not address. I mean they don't even address the mane 6's parents (despite in FIM they've actually show all of their parents by this point.)  But I mean it IS possible Sunset took over human Sunset's life.  Would be the best explanation.

The portal does not transform inanimate objects (like the crown and element of magic), nor books or other items.

It MAY "adapt" clothes/fur/accesories so they keep fitting their "porpouse" on the other side if they are being worn by a living creature [a saddlebag thrown like the crown will passthrough without reshaping into a backpack].

It can even create complex devices like a wristwatch (unless it is just mockup for aestetical reasons), from organic matter [maybe using the iron on Starlight´s blood?].

Besides this observed "behavior"; there is a "deleted scene" in the DVD of Friendship Games were Princess Twilight meets Sunset in a cafe and then tries to pay using Equestria´s "bits" (big golden coins); then Sunset uses a few dollar bills while saying that she will have her chance to do it on Equestria later [as it was a "plot coupon" about her desire to return that was discarded]. This confirms that both "bits" coins do not change and they are not accepted as common currency in the world of Equestria Girls.

    About the human six parents:

Besides Granny Smith, the only indirect reference in EQG to any parents is the BIG house near Sci!Twi´s "lab" (both share the same fences); since in "Monday Blues" its clear that she lives in the "lab" [implying that Night Light and Twilight Velvet are as rich as their pony counterparts and enjoy living their lives without their independent, "crazy" teenager daughter ].

  18. Sunset Shimmer won her first "Spring Fling" with a smile in her face.

The second "win" she got was on her first "Fall Formal"; here is when she started to become mean and manipulative (this is where that baloon Mabel Pines got "backstabbed").

By the time of the "Last Spring Debacle"; she had no other choice but to sabotage Rarity´s popularity to win.

EQG1 starts days before Sunset Shimmer´s second Fall Formal.

The portal opens once every 30 moon cycles FROM THE EARTH SIDE (about 2 and a half years); as It would mean nothing if Princess Luna talked about "moons" from the Equestria side ( since it was data Princess Twilight should known in case SHE MISSED IT, for her to come back then).

-> Since Sunset came from Equestria (a little AFTER the time for a "Spring Fling"); she either did not participated on that same first year´s Fall Formal, or she lost it (this assuming those events already existed back then, as we did not see any other photos of any other girl in Principal Celestia´s office).

If we assume this first year is when the humane five met and took that early yearbook photo (the "freshman year"); then they remained friends through the next year (sophomore) without incident; with their friendship being broken by Sunset on their third year [just previous to EQG1].

-> The events of the 4 movies happened in this "third highschool year" that is probably the 10th ;as it is implied in "Forgotten Friendship" that Wallflower Blush met Sunset Shimmer [in 9th] after Sunset joined C.H.S. (but not necesary "as soon as" she came from Equestria, since Sunset had no real NEED to go to school inmediatly, she probably waited for the begining of the next scholar year).
