  1. I think my non-brony girlfriend would kill me and eat the pony. On a less disturbing note, I'd wonder how Dash came into this world in the first place and ask if she needs help getting back somehow. All while I'm slowly turning to stone under the actually really scary death glare of my girlfriend. (I really love her, but she can be scary when she's angry.)
  2. I do this too. As an added bonus, the MLP shirts I have aren't very clearly MLP. If you're a brony you'll instantly recognize them, but if not they're just shirts. I tend to wear them to cons, although I wear them in daily life a lot as well.
  3. The problem with saying sorry, though, is that the other person needs to be willing to accept it too. We, by which I mean the people on this forum, give things like this a lot of thought and we relate it to the world around us. However even we can easily be caught up in our own emotions and respond way out of line. At moments like that, an apology would not get through to us because the 'peace offering' doesn't satisfy us at those moments. External factors like stress and fatigue play into this as well. I've noticed that certain people (who shall remain unnamed even though they're not on this forum) become completely unwilling to see reason in certain situations and will not accept anything said to them, at all. That's not because they lack empathy, but more due to fatigue and stress just bringing out the worst in them. I myself am certainly not immune to that and I've been irrationally angry at people. It's taken me up to ten minutes to start reasoning again and realizing my reactions were exaggerated. Sadly, online people care even less about each other because there are no repercussions to being toxic in a comment section. Bans really don't scare anyone. Put on the spot, they'll show empathy, I think, but some people just enjoy being hurtful and in their mind objective reason isn't necessary because 'they're right anyway'. In relation to MLP, well, some people like the characters as more than just great characters. I can understand that, but a negative consequence of this is that any harm that comes to that character is met with immediate hatred and the call for blood will drown out the voice of reason. To people who know themselves to be like this (in certain cases I count myself among you): try to take a step back and view the bigger picture. You cannot help your favorite character by slandering others. They will deal with the situation themselves because of the nature of this show. Keep calm and carry on.
  4. I've read it, but I wasn't very impressed. I also wasn't very clear on what it was supposed to be. It's too stupid to be creepy and it just screams 'trollfic' to me. There's lots of gratuitous gore without any emotional responses. Seriously, if you're going to write a grimdark story where Dashie or anyone else gets horribly murdered, put some effort into it. A fic like that should have your audience in tears over your cruelty, not scratching their heads going, wtf did I just read? In fact the gore goes so over the top that the impact of the pain Dash underwent was non-existent. Smaller things could elicit a more emotional response because we'd try to imagine it, but this just goes way beyond anything relatable, and thus diminishes the emotional response.
  5. As much as I like certain fan content, I wouldn't want any of it, not even my own, to influence the creative process of making FiM. I'd much rather they made all the toys show accurate because quite frankly most toys are still every bit as hideous as they were before G4 came around.
  6. Whenever I'm at a major tournament, or watching large sports events on TV or live stream, I really enjoy watching the athletes preparing for their run, or the start of the match. That tension in the air is, for me, one of the best ways to get in the mood, even if it's a tournament I'm merely watching. It gets me pumped to see people preparing, and when I'm doing my own warming up I still look around at everyone else while they run, lunge, fleche or spar. Does anyone else have the same feeling? How do you get into a fighting mood (or cheering mood, if you're watching) for a competition?
  7. Don't think I could convince my friends to try it; they refuse on the grounds that it's MLP. Maybe I can get them to read this thread, though, since they've been known to google online nicks for fun and then quoting my own posts at me.
  8. There exist 3000 year old mummies who are more deft than I am. I'm a horrible klutz and I will find a way to break even the most robust things. This does not come in handy when I have to put in miniature screws or anything else that requires subtlety. Also don't ask me to carry heavy objects. I have the strength to do it, sure, but don't expect them to survive the trip. On a plus side, given a manual I can build anything you give me. EDIT: Oh, and I tried fencing foil some months ago; it snapped like a twig. Even my more robust epee blades break frequently. I fence like a raging bull. Sadly it doesn't do me much good.
  9. For me, in the first movie she was just a bland antagonist who didn't have much going for her. In the second one, she's trying to gain acceptance from both her new friends and the people she'd brainwashed in the first movie. In RR, I see that she's having a hard time adjusting to her new lifestyle because she's never known friendship despite the fact the people offered it to her. She realizes she can't do everything by herself, but she doesn't quite know how to talk to her friends yet either. I think the struggle she faces with that is portrayed rather well. Everything she's experiencing, from the events themselves to the accompanying emotions, seems more or less as I'd expect. One could say that because of that she's rather one-dimensional, but personally I feel that's mainly because Sunset is a rather extreme character. When she was evil, she thought she was above everyone else, including Celestia, but reformed she feels everything she does might be out of line. I attribute this to an overcompensation in regards to who she used to be and I think that given time she'll find her balance. She still has a bit of bitterness inside her as evidenced by the line "It must be nice always having people come to you to solve their problems instead of waiting for you to cause one", the delivery of which began with a rather forced lightheartedness but ended with a definite, bitter undertone. Of course, all of these things are simply things I see and they're nothing more than my opinion. I've read the whole debate between Dulset and Tilt and I think both have valid points. It all depends on your point of view.
  10. Two crossed epees, because fencing is such an important part of my life. Then again, I'm not naturally talented in it but I've heard I'm a decent writer so maybe a quill and parchment?
  11. I don't actually have an OC, but Simon Templeman should voice him if I did. The man is by far my favorite voice actor.
  12. If they let the movie be directed by Michael Bay, start focusing on humans and not ponies and if everything exploded. No, I'm not bitter about the Transformers movies at all, why?
  13. Haven't seen any, but then, I haven't been a member for very long. I have noticed that the site is excellently moderated though, so kudos to all the mods for keeping things running so smoothly.
  14. Eeeyup is one I've used for ages so I keep doing that, but that one's fairly neutral. When speaking English I have once accidentally said everypony instead of everybody, but that doesn't happen often since I usually speak Dutch.
  15. First thing, lack of hands would be the bane of my existence right off the bat. Second, what am I? I have nothing against Earth Ponies but I'd much rather be a unicorn or Pegasus. Third, "Oh f**k, I'm naked." I saw a post about pony senses but I honestly don't know how different MLP senses are from ours. I mean, their eyes aren't positioned to the sides of their heads so they would have normal binocular vision like we do. Maybe even better considering the size of their eyes, but who knows. (Incidentally, since forward facing eyes with good binocular vision are quite predatory traits, I wonder if the ponies were ever predators.) After the initial shock and confusion I'd sit down somewhere and try to figure out how I got there in the first place. Then I'd try to find something resembling clothing because horse or not, I'm not walking around naked. Finally I'd probably find either Twilight or Princess Celestia and try to get back home.
  16. Dashie's my favorite and imagining her reaction being called cute is funny (and of course adorable) enough to vote for her. Twilight's my second choice because despite her intelligence she can be so delightfully awkward.
  17. I'm from the Netherlands, and these are some things that I like: 1. The roads. Seriously, I've been in so many countries with bad roads and worse drivers that I'm always grateful to be back here. 2. Relative freedom. Even though the government seems determined determined to make things more shit for everyone we can still pretty much do what we like. 3. Healthcare. Being insured is mandatory and I fully support that. Lots of nastiness in that world, but the concept itself is one I like. 4. Peanut butter. There is no better peanut butter in the world and I will hear no arguments on this. (Also if any of my friends read this, ha funny ha) 5. Not applicable to me personally, but freedom of religion and full rights for any sexuality is always good. (Although I do believe we're getting too tolerant of some things) I'm pretty sure people would've expected weed to be on the list. I don't do drugs, so I couldn't care less, really.
  18. Writing. I've been writing short stories since I was about seven and if I could I'd become a published author. Fencing is my other hobby, although I do that fairly competitively so I don't always enjoy it as much as I should.
  19. I've never actually been close to death, but if you count all the times I fell down from bikes and whatnot, and maybe some near misses in the car, I could have died several times over. I've never been in a situation where I was actually dying and then came back from it, though.
  20. I wish I could be a published author because writing's been my thing for as long as I can remember. Other than that I'd like to do Let's Plays on Youtube, in fact I'm going to try recording one soon. Biggest problem there is, I'm neither funny nor a good gamer.
  21. Honestly, I like desolation dreams. Even when I'm awake I'm fascinated by abandoned cities and buildings. For instance, I'd love to visit Pripyat (Chernobyl) sometime, not because of what happened there but because it's abandoned. I once dreamt about a village that was destroyed. It had one building in it that looked more at home in a big city. In that building I got shot by some guy called Morgan. I followed him outside only to discover the village was alive and bustling, but one little girl stood aside from the party, and I knew she was the cause of the destruction. I followed Morgan beyond the village...and then I ran into an army of demons, apparently summoned by that little girl. Other classics involve zombie apocalypses.
  22. It's been stated several times in this thread already. Drama sells. Reporters should find polarizing stories and interview as many pundits (God I hate that word) as humanly possible to spark discussion. They should be unbiased, but even if they were truly objective there would still need to be a selection of items to broadcast, and misery sells way better than optimism.
  23. I don't have a story as long some of the others here, but it happened years ago and the image never left me despite not being very shocking. The house I used to live in was on a rectangular cul-de-sac with houses on the side the road entered, and a parking lot on the far side, that had a single lamp post beneath which garbage cans could be placed for collection, but usually it was just part of the parking lot. One night I was in our kitchen when I looked out of the window, and while I was watching I saw shadow walking through the light of lamp post. It was human-shaped, and seemed to be wearing a hat. The odd thing was that the 'hat' part of the shadow was closest to the lantern, which really wouldn't happen if a person had been walking there. There was nothing, no tree branch, animal or person, that could have cast that shadow. I've heard similar stories of shadow people before, so who knows. A less interesting, more mundane possibility is that simply imagined it, because I was about 12 at the time. I still believe I saw it, though.
  24. I made up this name in 2005 for MapleStory. I watched Naruto a lot back then and I liked Street Fighter and Ninja Gaiden, so I combined the Katon from Naruto with the Ryu from Street Fighter and Ninja Gaiden. I've been using it everywhere ever since, although there is another person out there who uses it (on Twitter, for instance). If I come to a place where he's beaten me to the punch, I'm KatonRyu13 because I was born on the 13th and I like the number.
  25. I don't know if these guys are from the US or not, but still: Simon Templeman Michael Bell Paul Lukather Rene Auberjonois They voice Kain, Raziel, Vorador and Janos Audron, respectively in the Legacy of Kain series and to this day I've never seen better voice acting anywhere. I would have included Tony Jay in the list, bud sadly he passed away in 2006. I think especially Simon Templeman would be awesome for a bad guy. EDIT: Simon's English
